It looks like they're actually investing in him.

Also, I don't classify a no-name as someone who has already scored for H.B.O.'s Entourage, and on top of that he has the backing of both Timbaland and Dr. Dre. He also made a cameo in the Say Something video.

The mentality of a new consumer is, if the CD was retail and promoted properly, they would cop it because of the artist - not the features. Not once have I copped an album because of the features. This isn't a retail release, this is just a warm up for Hayes. Also, I know the typical mentality because I do PR among other things.(www.2SPR.com) Also, it's hate because you came at the dude hatefully for just asking a question - all defensive like.

how am i "defensive like"? i was tellin him, WHY i wanted to know who was on there as far as features..
if ur doin PR, u'd know that recordlabels and distributors are usualy spendin money on stickers on frontcovers of albums - sayin "Featuring appearacnes by.... etc etc"

also, if ur checkin out album-ads in any known hiphop-publication, you are usually, in typing, seein a-game niggas names on there, as "bein featured" - in BIG LETTERS
so yeah, i'd say the "knowin who's on there"-thing plays a big aspect of a consumer's mentality..

Correct, but people don't buy for features. That's a given. The only album I would buy for a feature is a Fat Joe album or a DJ Khaled album. When you were a kid, did you pick up a 2Pac album to hear E-40 and The Click, Tha Outlawz, Richie Rich, and Danny Boy? NO!

You picked that shit up to hear 2Pac. Most dudes can't carry an album by themselves. That's a given. However, people usually don't pay for stickers with features. They pay for the hit singles - featuring songs like etc, etc, I ain't going to pick up a DJ Quik album because of him featuring his homeboys. I am picking it up because of Quik's talent.

Apparently, you're too much on your own dick to see hate. You feel that you are always correct about every thing, and I have observed this from your postings. Like on that "the fuck you think" shit. Everyone in this damn thread, minus you of course, is checking the shit because he's Hayes and they want to see the reason Dre and Timbaland are co-signing him. Not because of Busta Buss or Drake being featured. Lol.

If anything, you might get 2% bought because of features. That's it. My dude Hopsin, he did all of his album by himself. No features, no nothing, all his own original production. He didn't have to rely on that featuring bullshit. They might big it up, but most albums are bought because of hit singles and brand name. That's a given.

finally, an interesting debate

like u said, "people don't buy the product cause of the features".. BUT ppl are movin their vision towards u as an artist, IF u have tied ur industry-knots - like, can u seriously say dat someone are lookin into a no-name nigga more, if he ain't been featured somewhere of a relevant magnitude?

EXAMPLE
the reason why Shakira's label, is payin Weezy big stacks for a 16verse for their artist shit, is simply because of... HE'S KNOWN! hiphop-fans can relate to him, so the label figures "hey, how bout stealin some of them hiphopfans by featurin their current biggest star on our artist shit, and release it as a single"

this whole business, is a "Who-knows-who" world.. n if u think u can promote a no-name nigga without backin of what's relevant (wihtout fan-base or without a trendsetting formula), then.. well, i rest my case

i dont know everything homie, but if im interested in somethin im usually schoolin myself into perfection about dat subject - A+++ style  ;D

Weezy is pushed on people's shit because he's a brand name. He's one of the few features that would make an album sale, like you said. A lot of people buy his garbage ass shit. You build a fanbase by releasing mixtapes, establishing the artist, etc. - Features aren't always necessary. You can still do today what people did in the 1999 market. People don't do it though, because they would rather take the so-called safe approach. Also, Shakira did Lil Wayne because she wanted to stay current in the U.S. market. Also, I can promote it without a trendsetting formula because I can establish a big ass fan base.

features are def necessary if ur comn out zero-nigga-deep, out the hood, dirty fingernails, no nothin.. a feature is def necessary for u then, to create some eyeballin comin ur way.. ESPECIALLY in this over-flooded business today. ppl aint lookin for u, or not downloadin ur tape from datpiff, if the name-game ain't played (IF u dont have the following already) - simple as it gets.. BUT there are alternatives, trendsetting formulas etc/ subject-matter relevant for the current times on ur released single etc etc

AND if u want to create ur fanbase like ur sayin u can do (whitout no relevant consistency bein featured on ur debut album, bein a production from an a-game producer or 16-bar verse from an a-game rapper), u usually need to stun those fans ur tryin to acquire wit somethin diffrent, some new content, - "a new formula"
like i said, this business is a "Who's-fuckin-who-who's-suckin-who" industry, ruled by youtube, myspace etc etc

it's not how it was back in 95, when 3˝mics in The Source, was enuff to get u some recordsales..

Yeah, I feel you.  You do have a point there, but with enough push and enough shove - you can bring it back to 1995 times. Just got to get enough people.

yeah, a loyal followig is the biggest lifeline for an artist dat is not "wit the times"

look at Ice Cube, he came out gangsta as he ever was wit his content, nothin changed (well, mayb some Lil Jon-beats), cakin up like a muffucca wit dat gold-sellin record "Laugh Now, Cry Later".. and dat was just some year ago or so

I do, especially the first song off of the first 48.  I also really dig Depending On Me.  For a gangsta rapper he's quite aware of his actions and the reprecussions.  It's just not a one way street - i.e fuck the police, it's they fault.  He brings individual choice into the equation quite a bit which is missing in a lot of gangsta rap.

Hayes's Big Boy Shit > Game's Big Money

Somebody zshare or youtube somethin by this dude.

I have never heard of dude.  For whatever reason when I started to read this I thought of that other dude Drake.  I haven't heard shit by him either, just hear you cats talk about him.  I think he's affiliated with Jay or whatever and that alone is enough to not make me even wanna check him out...anyway...

So for whatever reason, this "Hayes" dude gives me the same vibe as that Drake cat.  You got the single name that sounds like a last name.  They're marketing this guy saying that he's a protege of Dre and Timbaland which I think is a load of bullshit - all marketing ploy.   And now you got that fuckin slimebucket zionist Jimmy Iovine posing in pictures with this dude?  I mean they are really getting desperate to sell records.

I'm callin hype.  Interscope records can suck my dick.

And what's up with Dre and Em always lookin like they had mad plastic surgery nowadays.  The whole clique is gettin kinda creepy if you ask me.

Feels like a movie...I like it.  Most of his material isn't on that level...his new stuff is an improvement compared to his first tape...there's another track or two on the tape like this one.

He isn't going to change the game or anything.  I'm not sure what people expect from artists.  I just enjoy them for what they are.   Maybe that's why I don't understand the hate people have for other artists.

I gave the mixtape a spin today... this is my first time hearing any material from this dude so I didn't know what to expect, but I can say he's above average and has potential, like others said he just needs to work on his vocals... this mixtape is mood music for me

I'm looking forward to seeing how he will sound on Dre and Timbaland production  8)

He is briefly featured on a Timbaland track on Shock Value 2.  Go Hard is another new track that reminds me of what a Timbaland track would sound like.

I actually think him over certain Aftermath producers music would be dope.  Silm Da Mobster showed that sneak peek of a track which is the kind of material Hayes should spit on - a fuller orchestra-cinematic sound.

Drake's not trash, he's a hater.

But.... Hayes can write stories but he's no Ice Cube.  He sounds like a copy cat Kid Cudi.  They wasted the instrumentals and their time fuckin' wit this guy.  By all means let the man make his money but he's soft, you can hear it in his voice he wasn't the gulliest in his click, the nigga sound all intelligent n shit (dont take that as a stereotype, but the nigga sounds like an Einstein).

But whatever, if that's who they wanna push let 'em, I just hope that whatever they put out I just hope it's heavily featured with big names and thoroughly produced with more than just piano loops and keys.

its just my opinion on the dude.

not feeling him at all. kinda like a less cretinous version of lil wayne, but still with the annoying whiny/nasally style vocals.

and radiotube you can eat a dick, just cause i don't like drake doesn't automatically make me a hater.

hayes is not like cudi ... hayes is a gangsta/huslter rapper  - cudi is not, cudi is a rapper that touches on personal issues.  he's very much an indie/emo rapper.

additionally, hayes paints a way bettter picture than cudi has.

no hate.  i bought the cudi cd.

I like drake.  I don't get why people dislike him.  I understand not liking his vocals but cats are wrong with they say he's trash.  He's a fresh air for commercial scene.  From what I've heard he's no lil wayne.  Show me a wayne track like best i ever had or successful or fear?

Why is Drake dope ? Well, he reminds me of Snoop & 50 when they were at the top of the game. Everything he's making right now is hit after hit and I mean that in a good, organic way, not some forced shit. He's also more relatable, since he's not on some gangsta tip and when it comes to women he mostly speaks about relationship dramas and not some "I'm a muthafucking pimp, hoe can only suck a dick, I've fucked 300 bitches last week...". He can make anthems (Forever, Stunt Hard, Still Fly), catchy club shit (Money To Blow, 4 My Town, Best I Ever Had, Uptown, Say Something), introspective tracks (The Calm, Fear, Successful, Say Whats Real), spitting (Ransome, Ignorant Shit),  rnb tracks (Houstatlantavegas,  Lust For Life, Brand New), writes for other rnb artist (Alicia Keys)... Got this own distinctive sound with Boi 1-Da providing more epic, banging beats and 40 producing that dark, chilled tracks for more personal joints. And Jay has nothing to do with him, he's more Lil Wayne affiliated.

I wrote up lyrics to two of the cinematic-esque tracks off The First 48.  They're the tracks I enjoy the most off the tape.  They show case Hayes ability to script a story and highlight specific moments from his life.  It's one of the reasons I enjoy him as a rapper - vivid pictures.

Quote
My cousin was facing life but his bitch took the rap.
I'm thinking to myself she ain't ever coming back.
By the time she get out she'll be 60, he'll be dead.
What the fuck is going on in that stupid bitch's head?

Lost his other chick when he was walking out the fucking club
Some nigga's brother that he killed so homo started dumping slugs
He keeps losing bitches and not to other niggas.
It's either cause the system or the reckless life he's living.

Getting money is a given.
You do anything to see chips.
Get up off your ass or you never going to be shit.
I want respect even if I got to die for it,
even if my family has to stand over my casket and cry for it.

Lights out, spazzing out, listening to Many Men.
Glock cocked, pad hunt, I'll give it to any men.
Life got me fucked up, I don't got too many friends.
I fuck a couple hos but I don't trust any of them.

Chocolate chin-chilla to match with my henny Timbs
Your boy Hayes got it popping - good looking Mike Lynn.
Interscope signed me so who am I supposed to compete with?
Wait 'till they get a load of the fucking niggas I eat with.

Hold me down cause ain't no promise we going to make it.
Nobody goin' give a shit so we just goin' take it.
Find out who got the highest score up and fucking break it.
If they don't like us now I'm going to make them niggas hate us.

Anybody try to stop us I'm a strike and make them suffer.
I keep a cool killers with me, I call them my brothers.
We laugh as we toast champagne with one another.
It's been that way for years, all we got is each other.

Got to watch who I trust cause loyalty ain't promised.
Whether it's a nigga or a bitch at least I'm being honest.
If I told you I was balling it was just me being modest.
Regardless of what these mutherfuckas may be saying about about us.

I risk my life to make it.
And, ain't no better reason.
What seems reckless to you could just be me doing what I believe in.
Cause where I'm from nobody ever brags about achievements.
If they do nobody gives a fuck, let alone believes them.
And, that's my inspiration to go all out like "Fuck it!"
I started out with zero and turned nothing into something.
Even if you never liked me you got to be proud of him.
And, if they like us now I'm about to make them niggas love us.

Why not for them boys on the block?
Them boys is hungry.
You see what those god damn streets done to me?

now they will hype slim the mobster's album and hayes' album for 4 years, saying it will be classic and that they will both be heavily featured on Detox. They both will have productions from dr. dre, timbaland, dj premier, rza...etc, features from eminem and 50 cent will be confirmed on their projects.
2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 will each be said to be THE year of Aftermath. With ALL the albums dropping !!!

Until....they both get dropped in 2014 after releasing a few mixtapes and about 5 Hit singles with no video. For one of them, we might even get a chance to have tracklist and production credit. But that's all. Then, Dre signs a new up and coming gangsta rapper... and the same story goes again.

That's what is most likely to happen in my opinion.

Anyway, the mixtape is nice. But i was way more impressed when i first heard bishop (that track "its bishop" back in the days wa bangin' !)

I've been fooled 3 times with stat, gage and bishop. This time, i'll try to not read their useless interviews and promos talking about release dates and producers on the album. At the end, its a waste of time to get teased for nothing.... Its like a bomb ass girl teasing you all the time and saying "ok next month, i'll be yours". If its all bullshit, why get our hopes up ?

Finally peeped this. He's a dope storyteller for sure, can really create short stories in that 5 minute song span. With Dre & Timbaland backing I don't think he'll have a problem with the production side, all he needs to work on his his flow; right now it sounds like he's talking, instead of rapping. I like him better than Slim Da Mobsta, who is more of a cliche gangsta rapper, Hayes seems to be a more conscious one.

Hayes voice reminds me of Kid Cudi, listen to em both back to back and you'll see.

Drake makes good music.  I don't bump all his stuff but some.  I fuckin' hated "bed rock" but he had the only verse on the song i liked.

I probably would still check for a Dr. Dre album in 2014 bcuz we've all grown to talk about the album that never was, y'all would too.  And then he'll do a Guns N Roses with Guns N Roses on the track and it'll be left at that. lol

I guess if Slim changed his name to Slim Mobb and his album contained a little bit of story tellin/perspective of the shit; Slim wouldn't be that bad, backed with alot of Hard Dr. Dre beats and maybe 1 or 2 other producers that make music to fit him his album would probably crank a lil.  Keep it interesting/relatable thruout the album.  Albums like Doggystyle and Reasonable Doubt bcuz they put you in their shoes and not just lookin' at it like a stand byer.

When Detox drops, it drops.  If it doesn't I don't really care.  I do like the free material from Aftermath affiliated cats; be it Stat Quo post-aftermath, Bishop during his run at the Math, or Hayes right now.

Unfortunately, the rest of the tape aside from 10 tracks are from 24 Songs of Power.  He should've just released the second tape without tracks from the first one.

the fact this dude isn't exclusively signed to 'dre's' aftermath gives a hope that his album may surface on day. plus he seems to be friendly with jimmy.

slim da mobster is more likely to be the next person to fall into the detox protege black hole.

I can up the extra tracks for you all if it doesn't drop.

The Too $hort track has a dope beat, it just needs better mixing/mastering ... like a lot of the material.

Edit:
Here's two artist, Slim & Hayes, who would have been great and easily marketable under G-Unit during their hot spot.

looks like D.O.C was right, these two new katz Slim The Mobster & E. Hayes are str8 pimpin'!  8)
Slim is REAL raw, hood/street & ghetto kinda rapper, I can see him doing good things for DETOX! Earl Hayes is is on another level tho, he G4NG$T4 fo sho. he's like the future of main-stream gangsta rap/hip-hop a true bona-fide storyteller!. It makes sense that Iovine choose to have him signed, he has great concepts & sounds fresh on the mic. having two super-powers like Timbaland & Dre backing him solidifies his credibility as a culpable & talented artist. not only that he's the most marketable artist since they birthed peeps like Game & fiddy. I'm looking forward to hearing him over some proper Dre & Timbo beats!  8)

Disc 2 is pointless aside for x amount of tracks.  It's the same exact tracks from 24 songs of power.

And, the stream rips are the same quality as the ones he officially uploaded.  It's the mp3 downloaded.

Luna always be puttin' together bomb-ass articles/interviews!  8)

yah, that 'Bottles Up' joint is MAD poppy! although Hayes does have that kind of "Gangstar" brand image that can be easily marketed, I'd like to see more from him. with the exception of that Bottle Up track, lol  :-X someone over at Interscope fucked something up, and I still don't think Bishop is entirely to blame. he's an artist who was signed & had some sort of record deal. he was doing what was necessary to move along his career whereas his label wasn't doing much & didn't push him hard enough, if at ALL! :'( so hopefully they're happy now. and maybe Aftermath might start releasing some albums/music.  :-\

I did listen to it, and it's in no way improved...the production is better on 24 Songs of Power on a both creative level and mixing level.

WoW :o , I don't know what 24 Songs of Power or what version of the First 48 you are listening to? although the NEW mixtape does have a lot of songs off the previous one. nonetheless The First 48 is an improvement, imho!  8)

but we're all entitled to that.  ;)

the beat on bottles up is pretty sick.

Sounds kinda Timbo ish, so is this his official single

cant be, his album wont be out until late 2010/2011. just an internet buzz track.
so you actually know he's going to drop something?

nope, that's just what i would imagine the date to be if jimmy did allow him to drop an album. there's also the probability that he will never drop an album on interscope.

and it sounds like this 'movie' could be a larger project as opposed to a music video. you know, something that will delay detox another couple of years and still not see the light of day. oh man, interscope really is a joke now

Maybe Detox is the OST to it... like was reported by Ronin Ro. (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=169127.msg1933164#msg1933164)

Dr.Dre;
"I had to come up with something different but still keep it hardcore,so what I decided to do was make my album one story about one person and just do the record trough a characther's eyes,"
Dre said,"And everybody that appears on my album is going to be a characther,so it's basically going to a hip hop musical"

In this recent interview with Ronin Ro seems to imply that this idea might be back in effect;

...Recently,he's been saying he's going to release it. And while he's done this before and failed to deliver, one difference this time is that he now has a new film deal for his imprint crucial.
So instead of just putting out a final album as a vocalist and staying behind a desk or a mix board -in essence watching others do what he still seems to like, which is rapping- he can put the album out the leap right into film,as even more visual way of expressing himself...

So could it be that Detox will be soundtrack to a movie?
Maybe I'm reading to much into it?

Looking forward to his debut.  He actually has a chance of being released.  Especially since his image is more in line with what interscope is used to marketing
