That project was scrapped a year ago though, why bring it up now?

I hate when this stuff happens because no only does it separate the West, but it puts the fans in an awkward position too.

50 said something ill (jus example). If you said F my mother 2 years ago and I find out 2 years later I simply know how you felt and it still offends me cause it's new info to me. Just cause they scrapped it didn't mean they didn't have disrespectful intention towards them. It's not like they apologize for their intention to crap on them. Have they reached out to Cube since scrapping it? No!

For the most part, he merely replied to a question asked to him the context of the issue, but nothing is never kept in context. that's why its blowing up now.

Hell no. When there's peace we get boring shit like Cali Iz Active.
But when there's beef we get shit like The Chronic, It's On (Dr. Dre) 187 Killa, Doggystyle, Safe & Sound, Music To Driveby... you get the idea ;).

These new west cats started it when the started complaining  about the OGs. I mean they were gonna make a whole CD about them. Come on now, Cube ain't no sucker on the mic.

You seem to be hating on the New West in every thread like this, got a grudge or something?

Anyway the OG's weren't helping the New West, why should the New West keep their thoughts secret? Out of respect for rappers of yester-year who aren't exactly what they claim they are.

Come on dude, make some sense. Why would have a grudge on these cats? I don't knowthem  personally nor they did anything to me. Surely, i disagree with their stance on the OG's and that's that. That's the only thinig you should only get from my posts about them. If you saw it more than once I'm apparently being consistent on my stance as my post were in context to topic of the threads.
I don't take this to heart. it's just music for me, not my personal life.

Ah, "tthe OG's weren't helping the New West". That's the whole issue right there. they don't owe them NOTHING. This what's causing the problem. they think the OG's owe them they start to disrespect when they don't get that "help" and now we have this issue.

If Cube claim he the west.. who can argue with that? that's an accurate claim that no other rappers on the west can claim other than Dre, Snoop ICe T and the likes.

I will say one thing though
the media the one hyping this more than anything.
Rapradar.com has habbit of reading rapper's tweet and making into news which spark drama. they did that to Fabolous when he said something on 50 about his NYC show with other rappers.
They do this all the time with tweet from rappers.
the Alhiphops, Mediatakeouts, etc... This is hte new trend take rappers tweet and make it news and stri up trouble.

the media brew these beefs more than anything.
the forums do too. they stalk rappers tweeeter and make controversial topics of them.

just the so called east vs west beef

Well Jay Rock is part of "the new west". Or he is a new west artist. He hasn't said anything bad about Cube & all of a sudden Cube says basically "fuck new west". So obviously Jay Rock is not gonna like that.

Ice Cube doesn't need to call out name. Jay Rock is an idiot for getting involved everyone know's it's the THREE STOOGES with big mouths he's dissing. But it seems like these new school rappers still don't understand. Most of the WEST COAST fans that buy albums are older people that grew up listening to people LIKE CUBE AND W.C. so when you try to go at them you loose future fans. I thought Jay Rock was the tightest out of the new school west but he's done also in my eyes. I'm never playing his shit again when I D.J.

Jay Rock's stupid for getting involved in this. He may be New West but we know all who Cube was really getting at. He may be New West but Cube definitely was talking about other people. Jay Rock could potentially work Cube and make some classic shit., I'd love to see that collabo.

^^ thatt's from crroked i's twitter. i'm pleased about this, crooked is the west's best mc imo. atm anyway

i agree with the viewpoint that cube would only be giving G Malone etc some publicity by naming names. so it's better not to. i'm also really disappointed with Jay Rock if i'm honest. i'm a fan of him, but saying that sorta stuff is the actions of an attention whore

In 2010 I would take a jay rock album over an ice cube album.Ice cube hasnt made a good album in a long fucking time.Hes boring as a rapper these days,he needs to stick to making are we there yet sequels,he doesnt have the hunger to make good hip hop music anymore.

The reason the west is dead is because its 2010 and people still want ice cube and snoop albums when those two artists fell off over ten years ago.The rest of the world has moved on from those artists, the sales speak for themselves. We need new stars, not the same crap over and over again. The west needs to move the fuck on.

The south is on top because their willing to work with eachother, and the ogs make records with the new artists. The westcoast is dead because of snoop and cube and people like them.

I don't know what Jay Rock thinking

Cube most likely has heard of him but he's not known enough to make a difference.   What people are missing here is:

CUBE SNOOP DRE

GAME

are the faces of the WEST to people that are not from the WEST.  By dissing them is already causing "could be" fans of such and such artist
to not join their fanbase.   You don't see Nipsey doing no shit like this, he's moving in his own lane not crying about such and such co sign or such and such
need to put me on a track

going at Cube is not a good move at all so I don't see how this will be beneficial to jay rock glasses or whoever specially when they have

NO ALBUMS OUT NOT EVEN 1

Yeah I'll admit that the OG's have a right to claim they're west, but who wouldn't want the kind of boost Dre gave Game?
Its just that in these kinds of scenarios people start taking sides and get their hate on for the newer guy because they dissed their childhood hero or something. I'm not saying that the people here do that, but I can see it happening on other bullshit Hip Hop sites and basicly ruining the chances of the new cat's album coming out.

Come on dude, make some sense. Why would have a grudge on these cats? I don't knowthem  personally nor they did anything to me. Surely, i disagree with their stance on the OG's and that's that.

JAY ROCK NOT LOOKING FOR A COSIGN READ WHAT HES SAYING...NIPSEY IS DOPE BUT HE HAS A SNOOP COSIGN

going at Cube is not a good move at all so I don't see how this will be beneficial to jay rock glasses or whoever specially when they have

NO ALBUMS OUT NOT EVEN 1

do u see a nigga from NEW YORK who not established and who don't have 1 album in stores  taking shots

do u see a nigga in the south with same circumstances taking shots at

Jay Rock is a solid rapper but he's nothing in the GRAND SCHEME of THINGS same with Glasses Malone.
If GAME said it even though he NOT A LEGEND, it would be a little more lee-way

at least motherfuckers outside the WEST know WHO HE IS

but u never disrespect LEGENDS in your OWN REGION unless YOU GOT LEGIT MERIT and none of these niggaz have it

I'm never playing his shit again when I D.J.

you ain't playing his shit when you dj now because he said something about cube?  see it's shit like this that i don't get,you are admitting he's tight yet a couple of comments mean you won't play his shit? i know some dj's can be sensitive but damn my equal, you ain't got to agree with him and can hate his comments but you as a dj should play MUSIC THAT'S BANG'N! and if jay rocc's joint are flame play them joints yell

I think equals out west can do the same thing just got to get in good with the right people and it' ain't our og's! and stop just putting everything that's gangsta in the forefront AGAIN FOCUS ON SKILLS and making your self IMPORTANT as an artist, when you do features outshine the STAR! that's on the album, give people themes they ain't heard before,it's shit that takes place now that didn't cracc off when the g's was put'n shit down, and for the g's cover what it's like for being grown in this shit, most of the time we get the same i'm from such and such hood i kicc it with the homies i fucc bitches, well damn get deeper talk about the losses equals take,or a deep story about how a homie is strung out (but paint the picture step by step) and FANS STOP THINKING JUST CAUSE SOMEBODY IS NOT KNOWN ON A MAJOR SCALE,CAN'T MAKE AN ALBUM THAT'S BETTER THEN SOMEONE FAMOUS WITH FAMOUS PRODUCERS AND FEATURES! and again it ain't got to be gangsta lol, and remember the most selling rap group is from the west the blacc eye peas and they ain't gangsta lol pop yes but it's fucc'n rap get yall minds right yell

I don't know why any artist should be upset about Cube's blog comments about the "New West" rappers. He never singled anyone out, so any attempt at dissing him before he disses you comes across like a cry for attention... & Yes I'm a fan of Jay Rock.

Now on the other hand...Ice Cube has a history of soured relations within' the industry. I don't know how much of this is on Cube but it seems like alot of people who have done business with him in the past don't have alot of good things to say......

Soon after leaving NWA, Cube was attending the 1990 New Music Seminar in NY with his crew Da Lench Mob.  Also in attendance were Above The Law who at the time were still signed to Ruthless. In the lobby of the Marriott, (where alot of people visiting the seminar stayed) both crews passed one another leading to fists and chairs being thrown about. Tensions between the two camps had finally risen to the point where someone got "Touched". Accounts of this will of course vary, but most who witnessed this said ATL got the better out of Cube & Co. King Sun of all people ended up helping Mr. Jackson get out of the Marriott in one piece. (These two would also go on to have a fallout, but that's a whole different story) This ultimately led to the removal of Rap from the Seminar. I'm not sure if either parties have ever spoken publicly about this but I do know it's briefly mentioned on the B.M.L interlude from Above The Law's Vocally Pimpin EP.

Above The Law - B.M.L   https://www.youtube.com/v/5s7pXdAqI18 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s7pXdAqI18) (fast forward to the 55 second mark)

I can go into detail about other incidents but my intention IS NOT to turn this into an Ice Cube bashing thread.  ;D

Crooked I is arguably the best rapper in the world & he hasn't dropped an album.

as for the topic, this is the first i've heard about it.

as great as i think Cube is, if you're not a Cube stan or stuck in the past & defending Cube's legacy (i realize that is very few of you, lmfao), you can't help but almost applaud Jay Rock for standing up for himself.

i don't know the actual comments Cube has made, but if he's talking shit about the New West, then how can you hate on Jay Rock for responding?

you guys complain the West is dead, well if you let the legends just hang around & not give guys like Jay Rock, Ya Boy, Nipsey, etc. a chance, it'll never go anywhere.

People shouldn't bring up Nipsey's name while speakin about this "situation". Nipsey doin' his thing. I can't really say the same about Glasses or Jay Rock. I know they droppin songs on the internet and shit like that but are they doin' tours like Nipsey is? None of them got an album out but i'd say Nipsey has the biggest buzz of them all. Now that Snoop Dogg and Game are both helpin' Nipsey, i really can see his album comin' out. I'm not sayin' it's gonna sell millions but i have a feelin' that it is bein' released.

LOL,I dont believe anything is coming out until its in my hands.Hey look how well being behind snoop has helped soopaflys career right?Or the countless others. And we all know how being pushed by game has helped clyde carson, eastwood,ya boy,juice....Or the countless others.Glasses has had what three singles with videos that got some play?Jay rock had a decent hit with all my life.Nothing helps.Nipsey has no buzz outside this forum.Nobody knows who he is.

if you asked actual rap fans who know almost everybody in the industry & not ask people who would say "oh, obviously Lil' Wayne", you would find many people would Crooked at least in the top 3.

and i only say arguably because if i said he's the best, it would sound very stan-ish.

man if i ask fans who know networth hip hop they ain't gonna put him in the top 3 are you serious. WHERE ARE THE LEGIT SONGS!! i mean shit that ain't a freestyle or metaphor joints? as far as spit'n punchlines and frees go i would go as far as say crooked is one of the best ever! but when it comes to networth songs over your "own" beats and nobody else shit,i can't say he's in the top and that just keep'n it 110%, and i'm talking about songs that equals either still talk about/or gonna talk about for years, i ain't a wayne fan at all but i can name some legit songs he got that go yell

not to mention, those freestyles that everybody likes to shoot down (mostly the Weekly's) were freestyles with actual meaning, not just your quick 24 bars.

nobody in rap could make 52 or 53 (he started making .5's at the end lol) consistantly amazing freestyles.

tell me that wasn't incredible.

EDIT: did i mention that he did that for a year & didn't get paid for any of it? just did it for the fans & for Hip Hop; gotta tip your cap to that.

Well how can you comment on it if you don't know the actual comments Cube made. That gets a "child plz"

regardless of what he said, it's apparent that is was dissing the New West.

going by Jay Rock's Twitter saying "Cube been talking 'bout New West", it's a safe assumption it was a diss to the music the New West is making.

if you can't see where one would make that assumption, i'm going to have to give you a "child plz".

"I got alot of questions since my last blog. I'll answer a few.

What's up with these local MC's in L.A. who keep disrespecting me? They're just mad cause I don't f**k with they wack-ass. They ain't on my level, why should I waste my time. I don't even remember ever meeting these clowns or even being in the same room with any of 'em. They can't make a name for themselves so they need help from the O/G's. I refuse the throw'em a life line. f**k'em. It ain't my job to make nobody famous. And for the record, I ain't scared of no n***a. Especially, no rappers....seriously people.

Age-ism in rap? Age-ism is everywhere folks. In the work place, in sports and of course in hip-hop. We are a out with the OLD in with the NEW world. But as we go through life we realize NEWER ain't always better. We find ourselves saying, "Back in the day, bah, bah, bah...." All young MC's should route for old MC's to have long careers. If you play us out, what kind of future do you have in hip-hop when you get 40?

Advice for young rappers: You gotta be hot on your block first, then your city, then your state, then your country, then the world. If you can't make your block notice you. The world is a tall task."

Rock can stand up for himself, but i don't think Rock was being dissed unless by responding in the way he has, he's admitting guilt to disrespecting Cube. Malone, Crooked and Rock are being linked the this whole New West Beef issue but there were a lot more rappers during the last view years who had jumped on the New West band wagon. Shoot, yelling New West was like the in thing to do out here for folks lol. So New West has ben extended to anyone, I guess, who game after Game (excluding Crooked I)

elaborate....

I really don't feel like going through the entire list today so since you have Threat in your sig, I'll elaborate on him.

His issues with Cube really stem from the almighty dollar. Threat's first appearance was on Ice Cube's Death Certificate on the track "Color Blind". The track was well received & depending on who you speak with, led to promises being made which were never kept. It didn't help that Threat was friends with Kam who had a falling out with Cube that was well documented. Cypress Hill would later go on to fued with Ice Cube over stolen lyrics. Bad blood ensued....Threat Solo ended up seeing "The nigga he loved to hate" in traffic, which ended up with Cube leaving the scene without some of his possessions...one of which was his Westside Connection chain. Threat Solo passed it to Kam who passed it to B-Real for the infamous House of Blues photo. (I believe Threat Solo speaks on this in the Beef that has the Cypress Hill vs. Ice Cube) I'm sure you can probably figure out, Threat & Cube would never work together again.
In a nutshell....there you have it.  ;)

Thing with Cube is he has gone from just being a rapper to a household name. I don't think anyone would argue that he's worked hard to get where he is now. With that being said, when your tax bracket goes up so does your number of friends/associates. I'm sure some people would like cradle to the grave entitlements just from the association. Unfortunately business doesn't usually work out that way. Some of the above mentioned artists may be partially to blame themselves...it's just that Ice Cube's list of friends turned enemies is pretty long.

Now on the other hand...Ice Cube has a history of soured relations within' the industry. I don't know how much of this is on Cube but it seems like alot of people who have done business with him in the past don't have alot of good things to say......

can you explain plz what happened with these guys? especially above the law

I can go into detail about other incidents but my intention IS NOT to turn this into an Ice Cube bashing thread.  ;D

elaborate....

Bad blood ensued....Threat ended up seeing "The nigga he loved to hate" in traffic, which ended up with Cube leaving the scene without some of his possessions...one of which was his Westside Connection chain. Threat passed it to Kam who passed it to B-Real for the infamous House of Blues photo. (I believe Threat speaks on this in the Beef that has the Cypress Hill vs. Ice Cube) I'm sure you can probably figure out, Threat & Cube would never work together again.
In a nutshell....there you have it.  ;)

thats solo your talkin about homie....not threat.

Who are these others you listen to?Where are these people that liked the new version of we are the world?

What a stupid question, but I'll humor you none the less

"kimmiesarge: I love this song. one thing that bugs me, isn't lil wayne in jail for felony gun charges? how is that a better place for you and me? i guess that is the choice he made. 29 minutes ago"

"Aller69 Wow, Pink took over Steve Perry' part of the song, two of my favorite singers, loved it.

Thank you for not messing this song up like a lot of other coversongs are messed up.
I'm not into rap , but it was done tastefully here and it sounded good so thank you to all the artists involved 39 minutes ago"

"madisonpeak123 i love this song! good luck hati!! 42 minutes ago"

"smartycutieface i love the beginning cuz of justin bieber he was so was miley and nick but in general this is a great song and so are all the singers that sung this song cuz they r trying to send a message.!!! 48 minutes ago"

And that's just a small few of the youtube comments that enjoyed the song, there are plenty more following those as well as comments on different forums and sites that liked it. And it be pointless to point out those I know in real life who enjoyed it. Yes, I am aware that there are plenty people who didn't like it but to say and act like there aren't plenty out there that do like it is ignorant and biased. Argument over and ceased!

No, but I am offended that I'd get more of an intelligent conversation from your dog than you. You just hate to be proven wrong

I bet you were one of those kids on the playground who every time they were proven wrong in a argument, reverted to mama jokes rather than respond with something intellectual

i don't want to jump in over here, but are you arguing over the new We Are The World?

you can't really go by Youtube or any other fan-based comments because you don't know who you're talking to. i haven't heard it, so i couldn't tell you whose in it, but all it takes is one fan of "insert artist in that song" & they are going to co-sign the song just because their favorite is in it.

if you go on to Youtube, check the comments of any video you watch; if i watch a Joe Budden video, all the comments are "JOESPH ANTHONY BUDDEN IS THE BEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME"; but if i listen to a Saigon song, the comments are "SAIGON IS THE GREATEST, JOE BUDDEN SUCKS DICK".

people who post on music videos on Youtube are more or less stans who just support their favorites; for example, i don't listen to Gucci Mane at all, so since i'm never listening to his music on Youtube, i wouldn't go out of my to search up a song just to make a comment on it; where if i even had a Youtube account & was browsing around & found new music by an artist i listen to, i might be like, "yeah, this is the shit".

point being, nobody but stans or big fans of artists post comments on Youtube.

point being, nobody but stans or big fans of artists post comments on Youtube.

At the end of the day, it's only fan opinion that matters since they are the money spenders. I've never listened to an album or song review by so-called "professionals" in my life. They can be just as biased and themselves are just fans. And I purposely tried to choose ratings that didn't come off as Stans. Just because you don't comment, doesn't mean other real fans don't comment on videos on youtube or any other video site. It could also be said only stans comment in forums but yet here you folks are. And at the end of that day the idiot Jay ask who liked the video? and not okay what professional reviews like the 2010 version and so if he doesn't like the response then maybe he should start with the way his question was asked.

But if ya'll want a "professional" review then Maura Johnston liked it (MTV) and Simon Vozick-Levinson of Entertainment Weekly gave a mixed review, liking it but not measured up to the original with it's ups and downs http://music-mix.ew.com/2010/02/12/we-are-the-world-remake-olympics/

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1631899/20100213/pink_1.jhtml  So now Jay can stop actin' like a girl
P.S.
If some of ya'll are old enough to remember, the original version had received mixed reviews as well.
