So, unlike some of you think, Dre did say "its coming this year" at some point.
Anyway, talking about some music dropping in 2 weeks can't be a bluff in my opinion cause 2 weeks is very short and precise. If he had said "within the next few months" it would have meant nothing.

i dont know i think Dre may be coming with something out soon, 2 weeks or not. Pundants do it all of the time but people just don't get on the News and tell lies unless they're trying to cover somethin up that's serious. But then again it could just be all about the headphones. But maybe the album "Detox" is when you just get the buzz of it when the artists/producers/dre talk about it in magazines and shit like that but you don't get the actual high which is the music.

its obvious to me that Detox IS going to come out, and they ARE going to put out the single with Jay....Theyve built up to much hype and promotion already not to come through. The anticipation is at an all time high right now. Its the perfect time for them to start putting out music. This is only the start of the promotion for Detox. People will be going nuts when this track drops, and the anticipation for Detox will grow even higher. I guarantee these guys are going to cash in HUGE from Detox. Just wait.

well now more than ever, dre needs to release this detox album as soon as possible,... which means this year.
i believe this is the pivotal year for dre in the "make or break" sense. because after this year goes by, the interest for detox consumerwise will be averge to low.
there was alot of hype for detox in 2003, when 50 blew up, but dre made the fans wait too long for detox, and alot of people have given up caring years ago.
pushing an album back that has alot of hype can make it grow in anticipation, but if you push it back for too long, it can really hurt the people's interest in the album.
back in 2003, people still really cared about dre, but today, the mainstream has moved on, and kanye west, drake, lil wayne is what the mainstream want.
dre is almost like old news now. he had his chance to release and make detox blow up back in 2003/2004, but he fucked that chance up.
honestly, dre will be lucky to go gold these days. very stupid move by dre and jimmy for pushing detox so far back. anyways, it is what it is.
regardless on how it will sell, i just want it to be released, and then dre can call it quits on releasing solo records if he wants to.
even if he does want to release more albums after detox,... when will they come out?... when he's 65 or sumthin? its been 11 years since chronic 2001 came out in 1999. if he wants to keep his solo career, he needs to start releasing an album every year from now on, because dre cant afford to waste any more time because he's gettin real old, and he's starting to lose relevance because he stays missing in action for so long. these days, you need to release records constantly to stay relevant in the rap game.

One more point: Why drop a single in the next two weeks (i.e. April) when you're only going to drop the album in the 4th quarter? That would give the lead single at least five to seven months lead time. Sounds unrealistic. We will have had the whole album leak by then...and then Detox would get pushed back again as a result.
Sounds like more marketing hype for his headphones. Read my sig and replace "albums" with "headphones" lol.

something tells me that the album is done, and that they are content with the material they have. Now it's about promoting it right. Its a perfect time for Dre because the promotion for the album can parallel the promotion for the headphones. I also believe Under Pressure is not the first single, but a promotional track to test the waters and depending on how well it does on iTunes, they will drop Detox this year. I also think he drops a Still Detoxin, or Detox 2 with dope leftover tracks within a year of Detox's release. To all the people claiming they dont believe, you aint fooling anybody, you are all as excited as anyone about all these announcements, you feel it (no homo), but dont want to admit it.

you're right, i can't look into the future, but Dr.Dre has a certain history.
that doesn't mean it's guaranteed that Detox won't come out, but there's definitely a pattern, no one can deny this.

why would you even be excited in 08?? lol nothing was even said that year other than bishop saying it'll be out by the end of the year ..this year game reunited with dre, several pictures have been posted of dre and numerous artists detoxing in the lab, snippets of beats/songs from the studio. You didn't get any of that in 08. And all of the sudden Dre himself is speaking on the project not bishop lamont.

Dre needs to make the best album ever. So of course it's going to take him time and songs from 5 years ago isn't detox. He's restarted the direction of the album several times now. For all you know it's taken him a year to work on this NEW PROJECT. How is he past his prime? you care enough to check these threads though...and game is an improved artist and he was off of aftermath for 5 years, now he's back. That's definitely something to talk about after that whole beef with g unit he got the last laugh and ended up back on aftermath, and no i heard bishop rave about detox in 08. Why do artists insist on having their shit sound just like everyone elses??? Is that really a prerequisite for record sales?
808's and Heartbreak sounded nothing like the other shit out there, but it sold cuz Kanye promoted it with confidence and put his million dollar name on it.
So Dre, being paranoid, probably scrapped songs... and replaced them with ones where Fergie sings the hook in autotune, and TI raps the guest verse because that is what is current.
It's really ridiculous if you think about it. Detox will sell no matter what - the hype is gigantic, and Dre's name still sells (just look at the Documentary and Relapse). And if he makes this album unique.... it will CHANGE the game. There is absolutely no need for him to conform to the sound of today. He should just make the best hip-hop possible....
I know that some of you on here are questioning whether Detox will sell - and it's a legitimate concern. However, I see parallels between the hype behind this and the hype behind Tha Carter III, so I'm predicting that Detox will do a milli week 1. You also have to factor in that a lot of places (such as my local best buy) were sold out of Tha Carter III two days after release. With Detox, they will probably ship a more accurate amount, which will only help sales.

Yes he has been. Detox was first announced in 2002. He worked on it, then stopped when he wasn't satisfied with the end result. So he gave those beats away to artists. Then he repeated the cycle two or three more times. The fact is he hasn't been pleased with the end result for 8+ years that he's been working on this album (assuming it's real). Meanwhile, it took him about 16 months to make the quality of The Chronic. Let the difference sink in.

Touche. I can say the same thing -- no matter how many years go by, we keep hearing that Detox is coming soon...and then it doesn't drop. At some point you have to put up or shut up. If you keep believing the Aftermath marketing dept.'s talking points, it's like still believing in Santa Claus even though you've been told time and time again he doesn't exist.

Yes he has been. Detox was first announced in 2002. He worked on it, then stopped when he wasn't satisfied with the end result. So he gave those beats away to artists. Then he repeated the cycle two or three more times. The fact is he hasn't been pleased with the end result for 8+ years that he's been working on this album (assuming it's real). Meanwhile, it took him about 16 months to make the quality of The Chronic. Let the difference sink in.
the chronic and detox is a diffrent thing.. dre wanted to release the chronic fast to get on the market quicker, he was in some kind of rush.. but he isnt in any rush wit detox and he really want it to be perfect as he was sayin that in lot of interviews.. dont compare those 2 albums, couse its totally diffrent thing..

that's a good shout. if Game was on one of the singles, i hope that he wouldn't just go on about being reunited with Dre etc., but would really bring his A+ game. he's obviously known for being impressive on other people's songs, plus since it's Detox, he'd hopefully step his game up even more

I think both the anticipation and skepticism is both kinda fair to be honest.
How many times have we heard about detox coming out this year and that year etc...
So when a cat like dre-day says the last time he was really checkin the album was in 2008 and you know he is a huge dre fan, u know that cats aint always going to be believing some stuff thats coming out now because of past history.
BUTTT the biggest difference now in comparison to the past is that we have an actual name of a song and dre is out here again doing some promoting and has been on twitter alot this year in terms of pics so maybe the game hype was part of getting dre out there too at the time and i think this is the most information we've had at any stage really since a long ass time. About jayz being on the joint, about dre having a new single and even having a title. So this def seems legit as in this the closest we have come to having some solid detox material and if we have a single, its the closest we'll come to having the album until its released.
Also the timing in alot of ways is coming right for dre. Dre is back in the studio with storch. Say what u want about dre and yes he is the best hiphop producer but his style is dependent on musicians and one of the biggest thing in dres sound for the past decade has been the keys...and dre wont find anyone better in the industry than storch on the keys, especially for dre so having him back will def help with making them hits.
Also eminem is back onto some form if you check his guest appearances and seems focused on the music, without distractions so thats a plus for dre and snoop just needs to get his ass into the studio with dre when it comes to stamping the record. Also Game is back with dre so really most cats everyone want to see will be on it. Also im guessing game and eminems album are mostly done too so dre can work on his project to finish it and when its done he has the other two to fall back on if his detox plan aint coming out like he wants to and if does, them two albums get to ride the wave off detox aswell as snoop and anyone else who dre has any interest in.
To be honest, while i remain skeptical, i cant wait to be honest. If dre is dropping something, we'll all be anticipating it...but we'll enjoy it when it actually drops...until then...i wouldnt be suprised if it got cancelled a minute before it was meant to be dropping sorta thing lol...cuz like dreday said...anything is possible with detox lol....and with dre....
but im def anticipating it....under pressure! Hope its fire and got a bangin catchy melody and some next level sound...this is detox after all!

Maybe cause I'm not from the west I'm not as desperate on seeing west coast guys on there but you can be sure Game, Snoop and Slim Da Mobster will all be on there and possibly Nate, Warren G, Xzibit and Bishop Lamont. Pretty long list if you ask me and tbh I don't want to see people on there that sound outdated and boring.
Xzibit and Eminem were two of the stars of 2001 and both were relatively new. Hopefully Xzibit gets on the album simply because him and Dre sound good together and obviously I'd like Nate on there.
