lol If he wanted to make a true sequel, he should stick with his West roots, his best work been with his west roots usually. I'm not saying Automatically G-Funk but more like 2001, something that's new but still holds roots. It's gotta be something full of bangers or smooth tracks. LMAO! Exactly what I was thinking. This album was conceived less than 2 months ago and he's already got the first single. I have some pretty low expectations of this. So it's either going to be a rushed, shitty album that doesn't hold a candle to Doggystyle, or it's gonna be a bunch of random old tracks with some new ones here and there and it won't feel like any kind of album, just some songs thrown together.

I have this feeling that Snoop is just trying to sell more records by using the name of an album that he became a star with. Its good promotion, its familiar, and everyone loves him for that record. When I heard Swizz Beatz was working on several tracks for Doggystyle 2, I knew it wasn't going to be anything like the REAL Doggystyle. He's gonna end up shitting on the name that made him who he is. The FIRST thing you do when you're Snoop Dogg and decide to call your album Doggystyle 2, is grab the original producer of the vintage record, Dr. Dre, and give the people a sound that reminds them of what they love with a new sound altogether. Shit, I'm not even a music producer, a rap star, or a record exec and I know that shit. These people aren't interested in admitting that this shitty music nowadays sucks and they should probably go back to what works and build on that. Now they just use catchy names to get your attention long enough for you to buy their record and then be disappointed. Then they get a fucking award for it; all while perpetuating a fake marketed image of some kind of drug selling, yacht owning, womanizing mafia don who's done time in prison.... when they're really just rapping. LOL. What happened to music....

Well from the video he and DPGC did with MTV, I would say that would be part of it (in the sense they will have a part in creating it like the first one)
As for the single, I will wait to hear the song to pass judgment.

Here's the thing. For all the skepticism I had with no Warren production on the 213 album, that is one of my favorite Snoop projects so we'll see where Doggystyle 2 goes. My enitial feeling is it's a bad idea but who knows?

As Paul stated, I don't have high expectations for the album but I'm very curious to see what this will turn out like.
I doubt he will do ''Part 2'' for the songs tho.. Would love to see some Dre production on this album ... hopefully he can get some of the ''new Dre'' style beats. Snoop was always once of the first to pioneer with new Dre sounds when Dre introduced his new styles to the world.

Waka Flocka has the rawest album of 2010, if it ain't even close to that level Snoop might aswell change the direction/tone of the album and call it something else. I ain't sayin immitate dude but you can hear the Soul of a real street nigga on that album thru tha pain in his voice and I don't think Snoop has that pain anymore unless it's directed towards some other type of matter, let alone get tha quality of musik on all on ONE album (Swizz has classics but he's never produced a "Doggystyle" type of album in his WHOLE career).

I'd be generous and say 10. If he'd done this after "Last Meal" and reunited the original principles, I would have been as happy as pig in shit.
I still stand by giving it a chance though. I have no clue what'll sound like so I can't judge it too harshly. I'm not overly excited but like I said Snoop turned me around on that 213 album.

Yea my point was that there can be no Doggystyle 2 unless Dre does it. Dre was half meaning he was the producer and oversaw everything, especially quality control. The whole sound, the funk, the flow, everything had his touch on it. How can you have a proper sequel without the man behind the boards?
With movies its different cuz Jason can be from 1980 or 2010 and its still the same character. He still has the same mask, weapons, goals, etc. Snoop is snoop but he is missing his environment that made the original a classic.

Anyone who's seen Snoop perform live with the Snoopadelics behind him knows just how damn dope that sounds. Get Snoop, Tha DPGC and the whole band jammin and something incredible will happen - this happens on every show, rehearsal, tour bus and get together the gang have. They just need to record the damn thing instead of just jamming for themselves. An audience needs to hear this shit written and recorded on cd with a Joe Cool cover on it! Damn:) anyway if big daddy George Clinton just blesses the studio with his greatness the old magic will be there even more - perhaps more than in 92/93 now all the artists have grown.

I think the best chance for a dope track from Snoop nowadays is if he does some shit where the beat is pretty dope and dark, doesn't have to be crazy, just the right vibe and then have himself, Kurupt, Rage, RBX, Daz, spit hot verses back to back and come with a lot of energy and personality. Maybe even have Rage and Kurupt have longer verses than the others, like on Puffin Blunts.
That to me would be the easiest way for them to make a dope track now.
Because if there is a chorus, already we're in severe potential fuck-up territory...
It's so easy to ruin half a song by having to sit through a weak chorus 3-4 times, and then it makes it easier for Snoop to just drop 3 filler verses of the usual stuff in there to kind of fill-in time while we wait for the weak chorus to come back in.
At least in posse cuts, he might do a little something extra because he's in kinda competition with the others on the track.
