I like it. The beat has a kind of mesmerizing quality to it, and the hazy hook is in keeping with that. While I enjoy the production, I agree with whoever suggested that it's not ideally suited to Game. He just about keeps my attention though.
What's really holding this track back are the verses. I think Game knew how to apprach this beat as far as writing a complimentary hook, but didn't necessarily know how to rap over it. The verses aren't awful, but they underwhelm with that redundant stuttering ("ca-a-ar") and lazy, stop and start delivery.
IMO, he should take the time to perfect this track. Refer to this leak as the unmixed / unmastered, re-record his verses, and then re-release as the final. The potential is there, and it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

lets face it, pop sells... as much as we dont want our favorite gangsta rappers to go this route, its necessary to sell units if they wish to stay relevant. with that in mind, im digging this song, its hella laid back & i can bump this w/o a broad getn overly offended, which matters at the end of the day if ur tryin to score points w/ chicks. the same goes w/ Snoop's WET, compared to past music its garbage, but in todays music scene, its better than half the shit they be playin (IMO its "sexual Seduction" done right)

To stay relevant he should NOT go POP, he will (further) alienate his core fanbase. He should have continued the DOC ~ DA game style (which I still listen too). Hes trying to ride a style thats doing well in the charts ( i clearly could hear some wiz elements) he should followed his own path but similar to his personality his rapping style is bipolar.

I dont know if L.A. rappers are specificaly asking for Lil Wayne/southern styled beats or the producers are creatively bankrupt when it comes to devolping new sounds for the west, maybe both.
Game is on just cruise control on the mic.
Having said that, somehow the song is okay to hear in the background whilst you fold up a king rizla.

i still listen to those two also, they're the shit! im just saying he should have focused more on the music & long term image as a lyricist instead of his almost 20yr old+ stereotypical gangsta image. keep in mind that his 1st album took years to make perfect & had Dre's "anal" music expertise & his NAME ON THE PACKAGE & 50 CENT AT THE TIME & the 2nd did start production under dre's eyes. theres a lot of things & equations going on behind the scenes we dont know about too & would be foolish to assume that we know.
my bottom line: a decent track im felling, sound like it has potential to grow on me.

This is a cool, laid back track. I definitely don't believe that this is the first single for "RED" though. Street single, maybe. Good jump off for "Purp and Patron", which is what I think it's off of. It doesn't have enough energy to be a lead single. My guess is that the track he did with Chris Brown or Trey Songz will be the lead single.

He's released probably around 70 tracks since '09 and about 5 percent of that is actually real good to me (maybe 8 or 9 tracks I can still bump with like 2 or 3 of those being real GAME album material). I dont understand why he cant just make the kind of music he WANTS to make and quit trying to go the pop route, which is clearly NOT working either.

When Game gets to the point of his career where he goes the independent route, thats when you will get the music that you wan (without the beats that you like).

Its on @1500orNONTHIN twitter. Someone asked them if WSP is the single and they said no. Then they asked if the song was finished and they replied that it was done and will be on the red album just not the first single. But then again they are just producers....Its not up to them if it makes the album.

Its smart strategy if you think about it. DJ Skee posted that this is the single to Purp & Patron and RED album. So basically if this song doesnt blow up it can be just used for the mixtape and they dont have to put it on the album. But if it does blow then there is promotion for both the album and tape at once. I gotta say, Ive been listening to a few times and that shit grew on me already. I like it.

So in the end they take the 60 or 70 songs he made and they sit down together to work out what will make the final cut. Obviously Game will get most of the records he wants on the album, but there will be a few that Jimmy will want him to use and he cant control that.

I don't believe Interscope and/or Jimmy Iovine hand picked or instructed Game & his people to promote "I'm The King".
In the last couple of years Game has thrown alot of shit against the wall hoping something would stick. (This song being the latest.)

I'm listening to it again right now. I've changed my opinion about the hook. It's not that bad now that I've heard the song more than once. It should still be re-done for the final release of it. But the song in general is growing on me.
