Mack 10 revamps his 14 year-old label with a new distribution deal, and a roster that includes Mitchy Slick, The LBC Crew, Glasses Malone, Richie Rich, and Mr. X-to-the-Z.
In the late 1990s, Inglewood, California emcee Mack 10 launched Hoo Bangin' Records. The Priority-distributed label released projects from the likes of MC Eiht, CJ Mac, The Comrades and Mack 10 himself. After the Westside Connection member signed with Cash Money Records, Hoo Bangin' releases slowed, and the initial roster vacated the imprint.
This morning, it was announced that Mack 10 has revived Hoo Bangin'. Mack has signed a new distribution with Fontana, and revealed that he has a new lineup of respected veteran emcees, most notably Xzibit. The platinum artist Xzibit will be joined by his former Strong Arm Steady band-mate Mitchy Slick, Oakland's Richie Rich, Glasses Malone and former Snoop Dogg group, The LBC Crew - with includes original Hoo Bangin' emcee Techniec.
The first release for the revamped Hoo Bangin' is Mack 10 and Glasses Malone's collaborative release, Mack/Malone, due April 12. The long-delayed release will be Glasses' first retail album, while his Universal/Cash Money solo debut, The Beach Cruiser remains without a planned release date.
In a statement, Mack 10 said the following: "The Mack/Malone project is the perfect way to let folks know that Hoo Bangin' is coming back strong. We have been working really hard to make this release a memorable project for our fans. I want Hoo Bangin' to become the home of the best on the west."

Hoo Bangin' Records is a niche' for #OG_Musik i guess
-
Wow thats actually a nice roster. Hopefully they deliver with dope music.
-
real LBC Crew studio album would be great
-
Xzibit only signed cuz he is broke, right?
he is 10000 times bigger than Mack 10
reminds me of that laughable deal Ras Kass did wit the kid 40 Glocc
-
Good to hear that LBC Crew signed with Hoo-Bangin. Does anybody know if Young Tre is still fuckin with Mack 10? I would love to hear Bad Azz, Lil C-Style and Techniec over his beats. There isn't many beats from him that i haven't liked.
-
I've just asked Bad Azz if its true on twitter as ive spoken to him a few times on there, cool guy and he said
badazzlbcbadazz carabino @WardyPne where did u here that newz ??? Its crazy the thingz people say !!! Hmmmm I wonder ???
So ive gave him the link to HiphopDx and i'll let you know what his reply is!

don't agree. they're both great rappers with classic albums under their belts. Xzibit was cool when he was doing his backpack kind of rap, but he wasnt that great at gangsta rap.
Nice roster but let's see if they manage to release that Mack/Malone album first. Right now, I doubt any Glasses Malone project will ever come out lol
Hoo Bangin had their chances in the late 90's to become one of the best labels in the west with such rappers as The Comrads, AFTI, CJ Mac, Techniec and Mc Eiht but it didn't live up to its promises, although they did put out some very good albums like the Hoo Bangin compilations (2002, 2003) and Thicker Than Water album, but regarding to the former roster's potential, it failed overall...
let's see if Richie Rich can come with something fresh... I doubt it but I hope i'll be surprised.
this reminds me how DPG Recordz at some point claimed to have Sylk E. Fine, Chico & Coolwadda, Daddy V, Tha Twinz and a bunch of solid westcoast rappers signed but it quickly fizzled out.

you're right.
-
we'll see if it sticks.....mack's paperwork has been known to be "funny" in the past.
-
Wow thats actually a nice roster. Hopefully they deliver with dope music.
-
gotta give it to mack 10, apparently he knows his business if all these acts are willing to sign with him...
-

Yeah true but really the mainstream and international fame doesn't account for talent, so that doesn't mean X is 1000x better than Mack 10, but he had the chance to be around Dr. Dre when 2001 dropped and was maybe more marketable than Mack. If mainstream and international recognition were the sole criteria, then we could say that Soulja Boy or Bow Wow are 1000 times better than Dilated People or Cunnylinguists, when we all know it's never been the case.
I can safely say that Mack 10 has had a very good career both musically and commercially. He has 3 gold albums and 1 platinum album with Westside Connection. His first 2 albums are recognized as classics. Xzibit has 1 platinum album and 2 gold albums. It's not very different. If Xzibit is more of a household name it's mostly because of Pimp My Ride and other side ventures.
On the other hand, if you look at what they both have done for westcoast music, i'd say Mack 10 is more of a force to be reckoned with than Xzibit, and I'm not even a Mack 10 fan like that. Xzibit enjoys his lot of fame, true. But it's not like he has built something really solid or created a movement. He's a very talented rapper with classics on his own though. Mack 10 came up under Ice Cube, released a classic self-titled album and Bow Down under Cube's wings, then launched his own movement and developed artists like AllFrumThaI, The Comrads and the Road Dawgs, who all released classic westcoast albums. Then he launched his label and signed westcoast stalwarts CJ Mac, Techniec and MC Eiht who enjoyed a bit of success. then clicked with the Terror Squad, and with Cash Money records.
All in all, it's a very respectable career, not to be compared with 40 Glocc's. He's an established artist from coast to coast who has worked with some of the most reputable artists. So it's not like X is too good to sign on Hoo Bangin'...
I understand you prefer X, I myself do think he's more well-rounded than Mack 10 rapwise... but saying Xzibit is a better artist because he's more mainstream recognition, come on...
-
They've (Xzibit and Mack 10) had very respectable musical careers but due to Pimp My Ride and some acting roles, Xzibit is a lot more recognizable and well known.
-
This IS dope..Give credit Mack 10 for being the only one who is REALLY trying to keep the west coast vets working..I love this ..
-
they should release Techniecs original album

i said he's "bigger", not "better" than Mack.
n yeah, X is too big for Hoo Bangin IMO, i think hes signin cuz he is bankruptr ight now...
Xzibit is one of 4 rappers from the american west coast that is known all over the world (snoop, dre, cypres, x).
career-wise, cant even be compared to a 90s-rapper like Mack 10.. both in music n entertainment. hes been a star all over the world ever since the "Restless" tour (long before "pimp my ride")
-
Well I say congrats to ANY artist on the west that is putting together a label the way Mack 10 is. And the deal X did with Mack is a joint deal, it will also distribute Open Bar Entertainment as well. Can't wait to hear what comes from the label in 2011.
-
Hope they physically distribute a lot of projects in 2011
-
Best of luck to both Xzibit & Richie Rich...But maybe they shoulda talked to these guys first. :-\
Allfrumtha I

-
Can't wait to hear what comes from the label in 2011.

This is great news, even better if they all release something.
