I popped this in the CD player today and even 3 years later this shit sounds as good as when I first heard it...Now I know why Dre refers to it as classic...
-
Word.. This album is reallly tight.. Dunno if its better than the SSLP cause i could say the same for that album too
-
100% agreed. In my opinion it's the best thing Em's done. It's twice as polished as SSLP and more cohesive than Eminem Show. Five star classic.
-
Nah, it's definately not classic for me, the album got boring after a while and I traded it cause I was simply fed up with Eminem's constant thinking he's hard by rapping about killing his wife and shit. To me the subject matter was boring, and I would say that this album is more a 3/5, if that, and is certainly not a classic.
-
to me its eminems best album
-
Its nowhere near a classic.....
3.5/5
the end of the album is filler city.
A true classic is something like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, The Chronic, Illmatic, or All Eyez On Me.....now THOSE are true classics. The MMLP isnt even close to being on the same level as any those albums.
To me, the Eminem Show is his best album, but even that album isnt a classic.....4.5/5
-
It's odd when it comes to the 3 Eminem albums cause there are people that think that all of them are classic, SSLP is classic and with each album it got worse, each album got better, or the MMLP is the only classic. Opinions on these 3 albums are all over the map.
I'm one of them that believes they improve with each one. His flow and delivery have been getting better with each album, that's for sure. I think in a couple of years MMLP and TES will be look at as classics.
-
^^^true, there is no general consensus when it comes to Em's albums.
Personally, I think the MMLP is his worst, because even though it has some of his best songs, its also a filler fest towards the end of the album.
I think the SSLP is better than the MMLP, but not as good as the Eminem Show [his best IMO]. I still dont think any of his albums are classic though. But then again, I dont give out classic ratings easily. Im a harsh critic, and an album has to really be something special in my eyes for me to call it a classic. He came close on the Eminem Show, but fell just short.
-
To me this is up there with all those classic albums...Maybe not Chronic and Doggystyle caliber but just under them...I think Dre had alot more input into the production on this album more than the Eminem Show...Lyrically I think Eminem is on top of his game and rips every track...

I couldn't agree more with hellrazor. MMLP is far from classic. It's Em's worst album. It's boring and repetitive. Only a few tracks like Stan and The Way I Am really stand out, while the rest is repetitive crap. The only album Em has produced that is anywhere near classic-caliber is The Em Show.

agree for the most part, but i think both mmlp and eminem show were 4/5s
-
i dont think any eminem album is classic...hes got no replay value for me or my homies...bump the cd for a week and put it away forever....tho theyre all good albums...theyre just not classic...
-
i think em gets consistently better with every album. i like that now he doesn't rely so much on his shock value. i think his flow has gotten even more incredible, and you've got to respect the fact that he produced all but 3 songs on ES. and i really like MMLP, but i totally agree about the filler towards the end. i don't think its a classic, but its definetly a good cd.

yeah, i agree in a couple of years both of these albums will be looked at as classics. btw, i still bump mmlp. I love that cd. I feel its his best.
peace

yea, dat's what I was feeling bout the MMLP for a long ass time, overall it has got to be, the whole mood of that album, the whole concept, Emz storytelling at it's best, consistent production, best lyrics overall .

I consider Em to have 2 classic records, "Infinite" and SSLP. MMLP has alot of great, potentially classic tracks like "Stan", "The Way I Am", "Bitch Please II", "Who Knew, but I wouldn't call it a real classic, although, I would definately recommend it to any hip-hop fan because it is a pretty important album imo, all his albums are imo.
