Any plans to release any of his unreleased music / tracks like Felonz and Status?

Does he realize how much his fans would love to hear his unreleased and demo stuff?

Does he know people pay outrageous amounts online for his unreleased stuff?

Considering how popular his Quik's Grooves are...Why no Quik's Groove on the new cd?

Has he ever considered doing an album of all instrumentals and talkbox like Roger & Zapp?

One thing I always wondered about was the Everlast diss on "Can't Fuck Wit A Nigga" off the Menace II Society soundtrack. What was the origin of that feud?

Any chance of a "Lost Tapes" or "Bootlegs & B-Sides"-style release of lost Quik tracks?

Besides yourself, who do you consider to be the top 5 producers working in music today?

Out of all of your solo albums, which is your personal favorite?

I heard that before your new album was called "Book of David", it was to be named "Rhythm-al-ism Red"; if true what made you decide to change the name and concept of the album?

Can you ask him if the song "fresher than me" he did with Suga Free will ever get released?

And if the other songs he played that didn't make the cut for TBOD will be released as well?

"have you ever thought about doing jazz arrangements of your hits that you would perform with a small combo in jazz clubs all over the world? to see an even more versatile and more musical side of david blake?"

"name the 5 most important pieces of your mixdown gear: what is it called, and why is it so important for you, how do you use it, whats so special about it?"

"is there a difference in the process of creating a song in the 90s and now? how is the process? jaming around? or what songs did you produce having the whole song already in your mind, directing musicians to play things exactly like this and that. BOOM. song done. which of your hit songs were created like this?"

"why is it so important for a producer/you to recreate yourself on each album? doesnt personal and intellectual growth and your surrounding (like change of time.. radio, politics, etc..) automatically lead to an upgraded sound? isnt that just natural? so why putting oneself under big pressure to having things done in a particular way that you dont even know yet. doesnt that lead in the most extreme case to a detox album that will see the light of day after more then 10yrs without the promised improovements that everybody expects, judged on the two singles dr.dre released so far."

"you are one of the most underrated producers in the game but still very well respected. dont you think youre just perfect in that niche? you seem to feel very well jumping into the audience and shaking hands with them or do stage diving. a dr.dre isnt able to do so. also you can experiment on your more frequently albums without loosing big fanbase that are expecting radio-friendly pop music."

"how do you feel about the change of music. 30-40 years ago music was more lively and versatile played on the radio. nowadays it seems that the industry is dictating what is to be played on the radio. songs that follow a certain scheme which seems to be the flavor of the day is played over and over again. you have 5 different songs by 5 different artists and producers. and still they roughly sound the same. what happend to the originality and artistic freedom that used to define a musician prior to the last 10 years. and what happend to the freedom a radio DJ used to have to actually play whatever he feels which needs to be played spontaniously in this very moment which was the original idea of radio as a medium? so how does that influence the music industry and how does it affect you?"

Love the questions so far. I hate when vets get interviewed and people ask the same old question

I too wanna know if he's going to do a lost tapes type thing and release felonz, live from la theme, inside out, etc

Since he finally admitted "u aint fresh" is a dre diss, ask him to speak more on how the other nwa members reacted to his request to replace eazy

What ever happed to gangsta d from 2nd ii none? And playa hamm? And pretty much why he's beefing with amg and hi-c (and does he think their issues can be resolved)

Why did he diss game on that 8 minute diss track from a few months ago?

Will there be a visualism 2? Or another dvd?

What was it like to finally work with ice cube?

You definitely must ask about Suga Free and if he plans on producing Street Gospel 2. He said on his twitter that Suga Free was on "Book of David" only because of Tony Lane and that he won't produce a whole album for Suga Free. Can he explain it himself ??

Why is he still reluctant to talk about Mausberg ? On his mixtape, the only track he doesn't breakdown is "Down, Down, Down" feat Mausberg...

He said that Stan Sheppard fucked Mausberg by releasing and rushing Mausberg's album after his death and noy giving money to his family. Album didn't sound like Quik wanted because he could not master it. He said Stan Sheppard disappeared while he's still around, just check DUBCNN! Did he ever confront Stan Sheppard about the situation ? Any chance he remasters Non Fiction for the fans and re-release it properly ?

Does Quik still not want to release unheard Mausberg stuff ?

Why didn't he release the tribute "Mausberg RIP" ? This song is the best tribute I've ever heard, I'd love to hear CDQ!!!!

Tell him about the thread that we made not a long time ago about Mausberg discography. We reunited all his songs, tell Quik Mausberg, 10 years after his passing, still gets much love and is not forgotten by his fans!

PLEASE ASK JAY!! THANKS! Can't wait for that interview!

01.  Will DJ Quik ever do a Rock collaboration?  I'm not talkin about hookin' up with Travis Barker again either lol.

02.  Who is he rockin' wit that's new these days that's from the East and the South and the Mid West (outside of the Westcoast i guess).  I think it's a little too cliche' and honestly just bland asking him who's New on the West that he's feeling.

03.  Will he ever get with everybody who's ever done anything big or semi-major that's from Compton and do an album together?  Dre, Hootie, Ren, Menace, Game, etc etc...  I'm tellin y'all now that an all out top to bottom Comton album would be a masterpiece.  I mean they've had an unemployment rate of 21%+ for i think decades now, i mean the Art and the creativity from that album would be insane.

04.  Is he doing anymore songs with Jodeci, it's not like they ain't been reunited since forever.

05.  Does he still NOT smoke or drink when he's in the studio recording?

06.  How come he's never worked with Daz... but then again i don't think their sounds would mesh together all that well with Daz's voice and Quik's beats.

07.  Is he ever going to Tenure at a prestigious University for Music/Audio Engineering?  Is that something he would consider?

08.  Does he have any tracks/vocals that are unreleased with Nate Dogg?

09.  How come him and Warren G don't do anything together, especially do a production collaboration?
Quik:  Drums, Melody, Bass
Warren G:  Keys

10.  Does he have any material he did on Death Row that's unheard/unreleased... i'm talkin songs, features, and most definitely productions too... obviously aside from Danny Boy

11.  Would he ever do a track with Young Jeezy?  I'm tellin' u right now that y'all are sleeping on that collabo, think about it hard (if u have to) iz all i can say.

1. Ask him what he thinks about doing an entire album with Suga Free. They are magic together. The best duo ever...
2. Will he ever work with El DeBarge again? He was giving El DeBarge props in that SmokeALot Radioshow a week ago.
3. Are there plans to release a Visualism Part 2 on DVD/Blu-Ray?
4. What happened with the Greatest Hits Live At The House Of Blues DVD?
5. Are there any plans to release The Book Of David as an ''instrumental album'' like he did with Trauma?
6. What happend between him and AMG?
7. How much is he involved in the Konnectid Project Volume 2?
8. Is he ever going to use the talkbox again?
9. What music does he like when he is chilling at home?

ok here we go...

- 2nd the requests for question on putting out any old unreleased or misc tracks properly/in cdq. i'd add to that, any chance of his first 3rd albums being fully remastered cause tracks off them sound lot better on da finale compilation. maybe even HQ digital versions of his albums in the future...

- fresher than me, why isn't this on the BOD? bonus track or not cleared/included? perhaps something to do with suga free, but i'd love to hear it with or without him. sounded like one of the best tracks.

- who has been working with lately and upcoming releases we can look forward to with quik production, aside from the jon b. i'd love to hear an entire album done by him like some of his earlier classics. specifically any r&b artists, cause 'fill your cup' is classic level 8)

- technical process - detail on exactly what gadgets is quik playing with these days and hows that influencing his sound?

- any chance of doing a show in the UK any time in the future?

that'll do i guess 8)

1) any chance of a "Lost Tapes" style album with tracks like "Felonz" on it?

2) what artist would he like to work with that he hasn't already worked with?

3) With the Eiht/Quik beef squashed over a decade ago, how come neither have released a collabo track?

4) Are you going to do any concerts on the East Coast?

5) If this track isn't on Book of David, is it going to see the light of day? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X_2Bs6RDP0&feature=player_detailpage#t=132s

If asking about unreleased tracks, or lost tapes idea, it'd be good to be specific. Wouldn't want an album of Fixxers, or Blaqkout scraps lol.

Tracks like:

RIP Mausberg (Requested for years from fans to have in CDQ)
Felonz
Afternoon Drive
Bedtime Story (Requested for years from fans to have in CDQ)

The Theo drops, and tracks from that period, all album worthy, even if it was done digitally under a different name like DJ Quik and Co presents, so it wouldn't sit firmly in his discography if he's concerned about that

1. He's mentioned before about getting into film scoring, what's up with that? Is that still going to happen for him? Has he already done some film scoring that we may not know about?

2. Would her ever consider working on a full length LP with MC Eiht now that the beef is over and what is the overall status between them two? How did their beef finally get settled (it would be tight to finally get the full scoop on this).

3. Are there any new artists that he's working with and trying to develope to eventually put out?

4. As far as commercial / mainstream rap music goes, does he think is it possible to get it back to how it was before, back when there was more diversity in the artists and their sound and if so, how can it be done? Mainstream artists were more unique before, they brought their own flavor to rap and the lables looked for that new sound and/or artist and would work to develope them and now it's like if you don't sound like everyone else you wont have a chance to make it at that level; the labels want that pre-made cookie cutter artist. Before biting someones style was the worse thing you could do but now it seems like it's your best chance at making it. Quik is a very unique artist and has always done his style and has not tried to copy other artists and for all the amazing music he's made he is still highly under-rated (maybe because he doesn't follow trends) so it would be interesting to get his perspective on this.

4. Who are some artists that he would still like to work with in the future both in and out of rap music?

5. How did he learn to play the instruments that he plays? Was it all self taught or did he get lessons? And same for mixing/mastering, was that all self taught/trial and error or did he have proper teaching?

6. What is his process for making beats, does he start with an idea already in his head or does he lay down some drums, play some melodies or dig for samples, etc. and wait for some thing to inspire him and give him the direction the beat should go in?

7. What equipment is he using to make his music? Sill using an MPC3000, Studio Electronics synths, recording to tape, etc. or is he using software like protools and plugins with midi controllers like a lot of other people are doing nowadays? Thoughts on hardware vs software? Just pick his brain on the the whole production side of things.

06.  How come he's never worked with Daz... but then again i don't think their sounds would mesh together all that well with Daz's voice and Quik's beats.

09.  How come him and Warren G don't do anything together, especially do a production collaboration?
Quik:  Drums, Melody, Bass
Warren G:  Keys

gotta stange feeling both these has happen be4...kuz on dogg food... they thanked david blake out of nowhere and coulda sworn i seen quik and daz name on a couple of songs on all eyes on me..

y ask quik when daz post all the time on here...

warren i think they've done somethin as well..thinkin there she goes or dont tell

Do you think artists tend to get sloppy and focus less on quality when they're independent and know they can get by by selling fewer albums?

What's with you taking turns beefing with Suga Free, AMG, and the rest of your crew from time to time?

You've said you were in a bad place mentally when you recorded both Safe + Sound and Rhythm-al-ism, yet most people would rate those two as your best albums. Do you think you make better music when you block out everything else that's going on in your life?

Ask him if he would ever consider writing a real "Book of David" by DJ Quik / David Blake ? A book that would cover everything from his banging days to how he got started making music, all the ups and down that he's had both in the music biz and personal life, music production both for himself and other artists, his beefs, touring, the on-going fallouts with his homies/artists, his thoughts on the industry and how it's changed and how it's affected him; a full-blown autobiography of DJ Quik.

One thing I always wondered about was the Everlast diss on "Can't Fuck Wit A Nigga" off the Menace II Society soundtrack. What was the origin of that feud?

yeah man thats the number one question he dissed the whole soul assassin click on that track. Everlast came back at him on the track "Shamrocks And Shenanigans"

"The House Of Pain's the name of my clique
You can't be down, punk, get off my dick
You make me sick, like strawberry Quik
Your style is wack, you ain't the mac
So yo step back, get off the crack"

Then B-Real goes at Quik in the outro of a unreleased diss track called "SCOOBY DOO" calling him strawberry quik as well. Scooby do is mainly a KID FROST diss record "you fat piece a chit! Kid muchacho" but he clearly gets at Quik as well...

[Outro: B-Real] (Mexican dialect?)
Take a good look ... 'cause this is the last time you're gonna see
fat bell like this again, you fat piece a chit! Kid muchacho,
muchacho kid, get flabby - (oh - choot that piece a chit.) You
fuckin' lobsta piece a CHIT! I'll stomp you like a duck. And you ...
you with your little happy chain of lighters ... you wanna fuck with
me, you fuck with the best! And you ... you with the burly haircut,
the Stawberry Quik guy ... you around the way, main. I know where
you at.

Is it true that there was an album scrapped between "Way 2 Fonky" and "Safe & Sound"? If so, why was is scrapped and will any of the tracks see the light of day?

Do you have any of the rights to the music from the "Head Of State" movie?

Any plans on releasing any unreleased tracks?

one more question, goes with the one on his current/forthcoming production -

has he produced any tracks in the past 1-2 years that are out there (mixtapes, whatever) that may have gone under the radar?

The answer to his unreleased question is easy -> He wont ever release any of his old archived material
