Yeah its weird that they haven't re-certified it. I'm very interested in seeing how much its sold now.

I think the label has to apply to be certified gold, platinum, etc. Death Row seemed to have zero leadership once Suge was locked up and the label went down the shitter so they were probably lacking a person that would have been responsible for applying for the certifications when they were reached.

the new deathrow/wideawake should get the old catalog re-certified.

Yeah both even with the re issues should be over 10x. I have no doubt in my mind that AEOM sold 10 million even before Life After Death did. Hell it was already around 5-6 million before Pac died.

Both are over 10 million, but it's down to money to re-certify, and they'll feel that the current number of 75 million is fine for now, and good comparing those sales to other current artists on top at the moment, and that the 2Pac name is big enough to stand on it's own, and feel he doesn't need to have bragging rights for the sake of an extra 4/5 million record sales, when funds can be put into better things

I think that it was a huge mistake that Death Row/Interscope/Amaru didn't handle the proper paper work done to continue keeping up with the sales of those two albums. Those albums were at 9 million back in 2002. So, I'mma take a wild guess that those albums sold more than 10 million each. I don't wanna sound like I'm hating or nothing. I don't like the fact that early this year, Eminem was named the first rapper to have 2 diamond (10 million albums sold or more) albums. That would have been 2Pac back in like 2003 or 2006. 2Pac did it first, not Eminem. It's just crazy that it wasn't documented.

Keep in mind that double albums are counted as 2 albums for certification, so AEOM actually sold about 5 million copies.

Pretty much accurate on all accounts. Eminem will go down as the greatest of all time from the big labels, although there will be others that dispute it.. People will dispute 2Pac/Bigge being the greatest, and select rappers from an earlier era. I guess it's down to just how much their fan bases are dedicated to the artist
