Daz & Snoop letters to Suge Knight on tOO gANGSTA FOR RADIO ALBUM

The following letters appeared in the "Too Gangsta For Radio" album booklet. Allegedly they were written by Snoop and Daz Dillinger to Suge Knight. Weather all of what is said is true, or some of it is true and Suge Knight is just trying to let people know what they said, no one really knows. Anyhow, here are the two letters that were written.

Snoop letter to Suge Knight

To: Big Dogg
From: Snoop Dogg
2345 Alamo Heights
Diamond Bar, Ca

I know that you're surprised to get this rite from me. Last time we hollered was in October of 1996. I tried to roll up when you was in county jail, but you know popo wouldn't let me in. Big Dogg, word on the street is that we got drama. But until I hear that from you, bullshit goes over my head. I ain't sending you this rite to start no shit. That's Daz and Dre, or those other muthafuckas who pop shit cuz they hear you're about to get out. I was hollerin at you because I heard you was tellin motha fuckas I rent crips to hang with me. I don't know where that came from! The niggas that hang with me are Long Beach Crips. All they need is to get high and they'll do anything. Now, I know ever since you been hollerin at that nigga Keita Rock. You heard I'm the shot caller for the Rollin 60's. So that means I don't have to pay them shit. They ain't nothin but some Snoop Dogg groupies anyway.
Holla back at me so we can put this behind us.

Dear Mr. Knight,

Christopher Bowden "C-Style" personally conveyed your messages to me as you instructed him. The seriousness of your statements cannot be disreguarded. Blatant threats to our lives and our family such as, "Daz gonna get fucked up... I (Suge) run the bloods in Sacramento and I'll (Suge) have them bloods do something to his (Daz's) mama... His (Daz's) mama live in my hood, I'm going to have my home girls (Mob Piru Bloods) pull her out the house and beat they ass," are taken extremely serious. Your references to the "bloods in Sacramento" and the "home girls" in the hood (Mob Piru Bloods) as the groups to carry out the threats against my family and myself, require that we be prepared to defend ourselves in the event that we are attacked. The seriousness of the threats is increased by your involvement with Blood gangs capable of carrying out the threats and their known violent capabilities. The number of possible attackers at your disposal to carry out your threats, requires that we remain on edge and uncertain of our saftey and our family's. We strive to avoid situations that place our family, ourselves and/or others in positions where they could be hurt or are forced to hurt someone else.
The tense, insecure, unproductive, and hostile environment created by your threats against us makes it impossible for business to proceed as desired and expected. Your threats placed us on notice that we must constantly look over our shoulders and around corners in a state of continuous uncertainty reguarding our family's and our own safety. It is impossible to continue business in a situation where our lives and lives of our families are threatened. Threats to our physical well being are contradictory to the successful execution of the business endeavor and work cannot continue under such dangerous conditions.
However, we remain committed to reaching a peaceful and positive resolution to insure that we can continue to do business. We are willing to meet with you and your representatives and discuss the various issues at hand. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Del Mar Arnaud

I am pretty sure those letters are fake. Daz does not seem to write like that and why would both snoop and daz expose themselves to suge knowing he can use the letters against them? Daz and Snoop both were saying Fuck Suge knight on records, do you think they would write such "beta' letters to him?

Lol Suge Knight is like Kim Kardashin and Paris Hilton.. famous for absolutely nothing.. ok he got Dre out of a contract and helped him start Deathrow label.. but we saw how successful it became after dre left... No musical talent, no business sense, just a big thug from a gang... Oh yea... he got one of the most talented artist killed...

Honestly I think Suge gets a teency weency too much hate but at tha same time to this I can never understand why Dre n Jimmy ever wanted to do business with this nigga.  I mean if they really wanted to show Suge love there was clearly other avenues to take besides giving him tha Executive role smh.  I just never saw tha corrilation between Suge being part owner of a record and his background, i get tha whole mob boss chit but letting him make executive decisions was just plain ignit.  Other ppl were around.

Suge coulda still been tha spokesman, he coulda helped pick out tha talent and music.  If anything he couldve workd himself to that position.  Not saying a nigga from his background and his breed didnt deserve a handout on a silver platter (more of em to this day need it truthfully) but I just didnt get Suge being tha boss and he was never involved at all in that world to my knowlegde.  I could c if he had an artist or two he was already managing but a whole label tho, a label with Dr. Dre of NWA?  crazy

Suge must've already had sum serious dirt on Dre.  I could see Dre wanting to focus on tha music more than tha paperwork but 50-50 tho smh.  Oh well, thats all water under tha bridge now.  These letters may have sum truth to em tho, we can ask Suge n them when we're standing in line waiting on judgement day lol.

Oh those letters exist, There are scans of those letters in the "Too Gangsta For Radio" booklet that I do have along with a few rare pics on there also. You gotta think Snoop (at that time) didn't really respond too much to Suge and his crew. He would say little things here and there but, that was it.

The daz letter (if it's real) seems like it's written by a lawyer.  He mentions that because of the threats, it "makes it impossible for business to proceed as desired and expected" meaning he isn't making the money he should be.  So it sounds like he's (or his lawyer) trying to create grounds to sue for damages.

I disagree, at one point Suge Knight was one of the top cats not just in rap, but in the music industry, he was responsible for packaging "gangsta rap" into the mainstream with the deals he cut with interscope and viacom.  He picked all the tracks (executive producer) on those legendary death row albums.  And not to mention, All Eyez On Me was the best rap album of all time and Suge selected those tracks.  His second generation roster was dope too IMO Top Dogg, Crooked I, Tha Realest, Soopafly, with Daz & Hutch as producers he just never got a chance really.  Now Post-2003, he's been a complete joke, postponing his albums then losing his label and still involving himself in reckless behavior.  But before 2003, I would say he was a top cat and one of the first black men to make it in the music industry to the top.  He screwed it up for himself by crime, shelving all those albums, not promoting and releasing albums, and screwing up his taxes and not properly fighting the lawsuits.

While I also disagree with Suge being compared to socialites like Paris and the Kardashain sisters, I dodn't subscribe to the rest of what you're saying. Suge was actually far more the business guy at first. I think he got more involved after Doggystyle and I don't think it was all necessarily for the good. All Eyez is not the best rap album of all-time. It's a good collection of great Pac party tracks but it doesn't have the smooth transition from track-to-track that say a Dre-produced album like The Chronic did. And where exactly did you hear that Suge chose the tracks anyway? I think his strength was his aggressive dedication to the business end. And it was Ruthless Records that brought gangsta rap to the mainstream, not Suge Knigh.

No, the letters (whether they are real or not) were actually published in the Too Gangsta 4 Radio album booklet. Though the word in Snoop's should be "kite" (as in a letter sent in the pen), not "rite".

And it was Ruthless Records that brought gangsta rap to the mainstream, not Suge Knigh.

In several interviews, Suge talked about selecting the tracks and how he had to pick the best ones from a pile of over 200.  If you checkout the making of All Eyez On Me, Suge coordinated the whole thing -- "Ambitionz Az A Ridah" was Pac's first song when he brought him back, Suge called up K-Ci & JoJo to get them to record with Pac ("How Do U Want It," "If U Play Your Cards Right," etc.), and pushed Pac and Snoop to record "2 of Amerikkaz Most Wanted."  I recommend checking out 'The Making of All Eyez On Me.'  Also, Suge selected tracks for DJ Quik's "Safe and Sound" album around that same time.  Good point about Ruthless, but Suge took the brand of "Gangsta Rap" to levels it had never seen before far surpassing Ruthless..but you def have a point that Ruthless laid the groundwork for success and Suge and Dre just packaged it and took it to places it had never gone before.

As far as the album itself goes, I would have to say hands down "All Eyez On Me" is the greatest album ever.  I think it showcases the West coast artists coming together all in the pinnacle of their careers and gangsta rap hitting the top of the charts.  There was a lot of reality behind those lyrics as to what was really going on in Pac's life; so it's all real to me.  I would say that "Doggystyle" or "Chronic" is probably the second best of all time.  But even if you want to go sales, you can't argue with the success of "All Eyez On Me."

I would never try to claim it wasn't succesful but to call the greatest album ever, let alone the greatest in rap, is an overstatement. It's a great album but I wouldn't call it the best Pac album or the best Death Row project. It's an awesome album but too many folks are blinded by guest features.

What is the fuck is your point?  So an album's greatness is depended on how much it "feels like Calfornia"? I'm not arguing that it's not a West Coast album or that it doesn't have its share of California-based themes but truthfully, I think that's why both Me Against The World and Makaveli are both better albums.

while Suge Knight was the executive producer for all the albums, he was only in name only until All Eyez On Me, with the exception of a few things here and there. It was Dre that did all of the stuff for the Chronic, Doggystyle, MWTC, ATR, and Dogg Food.

He screwed it up for himself by crime, shelving all those albums, not promoting and releasing albums, and screwing up his taxes and not properly fighting the lawsuits.

while Suge Knight was the executive producer for all the albums, he was only in name only until All Eyez On Me, with the exception of a few things here and there. It was Dre that did all of the stuff for the Chronic, Doggystyle, MWTC, ATR, and Dogg Food.

Suge was Executive Producer on "The Chronic" -- It was Suge's idea to push Rage's album back and release Dogg Food; And it was a team effort, Dre didn't do "all of the stuff"; Warren G, Daz, Sam Sneed, Kurupt, Jewell, and all the producers contributed to those albums together, it was never about just Dre or just Suge; but it was coordinated by Suge and Dre was co-owner and lead producer, but it was a team effort

Man, when you listen to that album you can feel California...I feel California in that album...you can't say that for a lot of albums
What is the fuck is your point?  So an album's greatness is depended on how much it "feels like Calfornia"? I'm not arguing that it's not a West Coast album or that it doesn't have its share of California-based themes but truthfully, I think that's why both Me Against The World and Makaveli are both better albums.

All Eyez On Me sold more and Rolling Stone Magazine named it the best gangsta rap album of all time; Me Against The World and Makaveli the Don Killuminati were both great albums too
