I deleted because it was a hook-up thread. Last time Tanner hooked up those Sam Sneed snippets Nima got contacted by WideAwake.

i aint asking for a link but im asking where i would find one or what to search for this?

i never even knew this existed? sam said the flac files to the OG tracks were damaged or missing and thats why he had to redo half the CD?

im confused as to what this actually is and when it leaked  ???

Something that apparently is doing the rounds online. Quality is mixed. I guess someone assembled some new and old leaks to make it the full length album.

I don't see the problems with hookups then if it isn't an official release?

Nearly all the recent 2Pac leaks have got taken off youtube by Wideasleep. Think they've put the smack down on a lot of stuff.

This album was disappointing but I think it's because there songs from different eras so it sounds more like it's been thrown together as opposed to a solo album.

Is it known if this bootleg is close to the original album as it was planned?

I think it was pretty damn good. You can see Sam Sneed had a huge influence on the Death Row sound. One of the tracks even featured one of the elements of the "That Nigga Dave" beat.

It was definately worth releasing as it had U Better Recognise (which was a hit) and had a few other tracks that could've hit. Its also a shame its taken this long to leak. Shame its a notch below CD quality and its a shame Suge mismanaged and ruined Death Row. Would've loved to see the dynasty with Dr. Dre running it without having the bullshit Suge brought in.

We are talkin' about the version that just leaked. It doesn't have any new material on it, only old songs.

album was definitely created during the height of Death Row (Murder Was The Case Era) because all the songs have elements of all the releases from back then (ex. the beat to the Heist sounds almost just like Natural Born Killers)  I would love to know how much involvement Dr. Dre, Daz & Soopafly had in the production because i hear elements of their "Death Row" production styles in all the tracks.  If this had been released around the Murder Was The Case Soundtrack it would have gone double-platinum at least.  Definitely is another shining example of Suge being a terrible record label CEO.  Suge clearly was in this for the money and the fame only and had no musical talent or ear for music

Tracks are hot, this shold have definitely been the Sneed release instead of the one that actually came out. As I said in the other thread, the quality is a mixed bag. Also it seems the tracks are out of order. From the way songs fade in and out, "New World Order" should have gone before "Drug Related" and "It's So Hot" should have come before "Street Scholars".

Hopefully the quality can be salvaged by someone that can make it consistent. Obviously WideAwake won't be able to do it, maybe Efrain?

It's a shame this album never came out back in the 90's. Would've been the perfect release after "Murder Was The Case" since "U Better Recognize" was a hit.

Hopefully the quality can be salvaged by someone that can make it consistent. Obviously WideAwake won't be able to do it, maybe Efrain?

I think Efrain will be able to do it. Hopefully he has the time.

Hopefully.

Kinda funny that "The Heist" has Drauma on it given that Sneed kept referencing that track during his album promo media tour and said every time J-Flexx was on there.

I like this album. It's a shame that Death Row never got to release this album. It's tight! I guess whoever leaked it heard what I was saying about the 2 back-to-back album releases by Jewell on Death Row/WIDEawake/Best Hand. I said that the idea is a good one and I wish that WIDEawake/Death Row would have did it for the Sam Snead project early this year. It would have fit perfect for him.

I'm sure WA is going to somehow fuck up the Jewell release. Black Diamond is a completed album, yet they are probably going to throw in random tracks that have already been released.

I sure hope that won't be the case with that release. I know she has some heat in the vault. Sam Snead had some heat. Sam's album is ahead of it's time, in my opinion. It's a dope album that I wish was released. It's Sam's Chronic album with a twist to it. If it was released around 1995/96, it would have been a good set-up for what Dre was working on for what would have been his next album on Death Row: "The Chronic II".

Damn, these songs are so dope. I just wish they were all in CDQ. "Ghetto Hero" has a same soundin' sample/sound that was used in MC Eiht's "Hood Took Me Under". "Street Scholars" has the same chorus as J.Flexx's and Dr. Dre's "Street Scholars". I hope we can hear that one in CDQ too in the future. Death Row Records should have really released this album back in 1994/1995.

Ghetto Hero is a good track.

I'm So Hot is clearly unfinished, but you can tell Dr. Dre was supposed to be featuring on it.

Shame they're not in CDQ.

Of course, that was the original. Natural Born Killaz came from The Heist. Sam addressed this a while ago. Dre just took Sam's idea to the next level with Natural Born Killaz. Originally Sam was on the Natural Born Killaz song then, it was changed into a Dre and Ice Cube cut that we all know about.

I don't know too much about it but, it was some songs recorded for it or was in the works for that project. "California Love" was originally for that project, The Chronic II. That's been documented along with a few other songs as well that remains in the vault. From what I've read, that's part of the reason why the original 2Pac version didn't make it on All Eyez On Me and the remix did (I could be wrong).

I totally agree with you on that one, they should have released that album. It's a great piece. The only song I did hear that I wanna hear in full is the song called "Lyrical Assassin", that was off the bootleg snippet of the album. That's dope too! J.Flexx took that beat and turned it into his "Street Scholars" cut. For some reason, I refuse to believe that's Dre on J. Flexx's version. From what I've read, that was done after Dre and Sam left Death Row. I could be wrong on that one.

i don't understand why dre came up with the title chronic II anyway, since he was tired of gangsta rap.

Listen to the song, Sam Sneed tees Dre up for the last verse and then someone (Sneed or Drauma) ghost raps his lyrics.

Dre's verse on I'm So Hot would've been classic.

"Relax. Floatin over the track slow motion, coastin in the Benz and the skins like lotion.
Tokin on a fat, packin a big black..gat..fat sack, livin like a fat cat.
Who dat? The head nigga in charge like Joe Clark*. The Principle invincible, once the show start.
The spark increase gettin the hoes in pieces..I release peace to regulate the concrete streets.
And get your ass up off the wall..yes y'all, it's me and Sam continue to get up in you."

i love the sound on all these tracks its kinda the basis for dre's early aftermath stuff, really dark, maybe a lil funkier. reminds me of the vibe on the hittman album too 8)

yea, i think bud'da or someone said that sam and them had developed that dark "pittsburgh sound" before death row, and that was the basis for the early aftermath sound.

sam's production was just crazy back then. these dirty ass harmonies... are like nothing i've ever heard before. where is he getting these samples and sound effects from??? sam must have dug like  a beast, and then on top of that just put these elements together in a way like i've really never heard anywhere else. wow. maybe he had barney rubble helping out on keys to provide that musical knowledge. these beats almost sound like those harmonic minor keys scott storch loves to use, but DIRTIER and more dissonant.

wouldn't be surprised if barney had a hand in this, since he played keys on better recognize and produced a lot of stuff for flexx.

i don't think this album was ever totally finished. the tracklist has always been a lil different every time i've seen it, and a few songs are missing verses. i think that guilty as sin and the better recognize remix were supposed to be on the final tracklist. it's clear that whoever put this together slapped on a cdq of lady heroin and better recognize.

btw, i know it says 95 on the album art, but i think these songs might be even older. keep in mind the heist has to be from BEFORE nbk....

sam needs to put out the rest of his vault. these beats are almost dilla-esque in the sense that they are so dirty, so atmospheric, and also so damn original.

'Heist' notice the 'Once Upon A Time America' sample when De-Niro deals with that horny slapper over the desk ''YOU DIRTY BASTARD!''.

They could thrown of this on the 'Heat' movie soundtrack which also came out in 1995.

Hey, I could be wrong. I actually remember seeing this posted online some where on a forum some years ago because somebody was trying to find out more info regarding J. Flexx's album that was recorded while on Death Row and some people was wondering like "why would J. Flexx use a track featuring Dr. Dre on it when he was just dissin' him on "Who's Been There, Done That?" song?" and things like that. I find that to be weird, especially if that J. Flexx's "Street Scholar" song was considered for his album since Dre was no longer apart of Death Row. Unless that was the original idea or concept that recorded for Sam Snead. As far as The Chronic II, you can see it planned to be released sometime in 1996 because it was included in "Death Row's Upcoming Releases" in 2Pac's All Eyez On Me album booklet along with the credits.

"Street Scholars" has Dr. Dre on it and the nigga even says so on tha song smh.  It was also supposed to be apart of "The Chronic II...".  I guess nobody has the full song anymore but it's definitely Dre.  Tha shit was recorded in 95' anyway, not 96'.

LOL! You know what, I guess it was the quality of the original MP3 of that song. I gotta say, I put my foot in my mouth on this one. That's Dr. Dre on there, that had to be done sometime in 1995. That intro was chopped on there. That came from the Murder Was The Case soundtrack, that was the intro to Jewell's Harvest of The World song. So, it's safe to say that Dr. Dre and Chris "The Glove" produced that one.

Can anyone drop some knowledge for me? Was "Guilty As Sin" and "Let The Madness Begin" meant for the Street Scholars album?

If I can recall, Guilty As Sin was intended for Sam's "Street Scholar" album.

Had songs like Guilty as Sin leaked before the Dre bootleg dropped way back? Shame most of those songs are blended + EQ'd a bit for that compilation.

I talked to Chris "The Glove" Taylor last night, we had a long discussion about Dr. Dre, Aftermath, and Death Row. He told me it was meant for J-Flexx's album.

It was just a casual convo, I usually don't record anything until it's time to interview. However, I'm more than open for questions if you guys would like me to interview him.

Shame his album didn't come out (proper), it's a solid 4 mic+ album, with some potential classics on it  like The Heist, Lady heroin

Nah, but we discussed Sneed a tad bit. I'll post a question thread now. Going to be working with him and Young Pistol.

That makes sense to me. "J-Flexx the street scholar" is a line in the chorus so I wouldn't guess it was anybody else's song. So whose song came first though, Sam's or Flexx's?

Sam's came first, then J. Flexx used the beat cos it was in the vault and not being released at the time.

There was five different versions of J-Flexx's one, so this maybe the case. Plus, it says 96 as opposed to 95 when all of Sam's stuff was recorded for Death Row and the beat sounds more polished.
