I just don't get why Dre ain't doing any of the production? Like i know he might be still be mixing joints but it's like damn you ain't a rapper and now you ain't even producing, so what is it you do?

Props for giving us the news though the only issue is when are we going to hear these joints and are they dope..

Woah. Great news  ;D Can't wait to hear this baby...

I guess Xzibit was right...when Dre has completed the intro and skits, it means it's about ready to be released. 8)

As good as this looks on paper its fuckin ridiculous he's not producing his own shit, on one of the most hyped albums of all time. Still, it shouldn't really come as surprise if you've been following Detox since it's early days (02-05) when every possible producer was talking about having a song on there. I guess most people just thought Dre was going to completely re-do the beat or not use it, but in 2010/2011 we can see that he hasn't really been producing his own shit for years now.

And it's fucked up too, because theres been countless amounts of leaks and studio clips (mostly the ladder) that prove he can still put together some insane shit, and even albums (Relapse). Take Topless, that Hey Young World song, 2 or 3 of those in-studio clips with Slim The Mobster, and a few others from over the years, and i'm sure you'd have Detox material.

I dont get it, who wants to hear Dre songs that's just him rapping over other people's beats? No one cares about Dr Dre the rapper. I figured there would be outside producers here and there with Dre co-producing, but this would make 3 officially released tracks with no Dre production at all

I still have a feeling over half the joints on there will be Dre produced, while the rest will be by producers that he's feelin right now.

Just Blaze in 2011 > Dre in 2011

with that said I too want to hear all Dre production on his last album but this track could be very dope considering the parties involved

Dre musicians team isn't as good as his previous one ( Elizondo and Storch) so he can't produce top beats on his own anymore  ... the best thing Dre can do at this point is working with the best beatmakers/producers  in the game and put some significant input into the instrumental ... Just Blaze is great and the music could be on some epic/opera type of shit ala " the 2nd coming"

I don't think it's a bad thing, as long as the beat is dope and Dre mixes it huge, replaces the snares, etc.

That's what he's always done a lot of anyway, got people to make a ton of beats and then fixed up the dopest ones.

At least with Just Blaze you know it'll be hip-hop sounding and have some energy to it, rather than another
really sluggish plodding piano beat with a few strings here and there.

The downside is it would have been cool to hear an overall musical theme to the album, like G-Funk on the Chronic...
and you're probably not going to get any overall cohesion if it's all different producers
(though the final mix, etc. could bring them all together in a way).

Plus I don't think we're going to hear anything brand new, next level, etc. this way, just some dope hip-hop beats,
but that would be enough for me at this point.

why isnt dre producing? This dude spent 10 years to be just a rapper?

Because these are one-off singles that are being given the Detox brand name to gain recognition.  I mean, even now everybody on the inside admits Kush and I Need a Doctor won't appear on album yet they were "Detox singles" -- how is that possible?  Because these are all one-off singles being given the Detox brand name.

Dre musicians team isn't as good as his previous one ( Elizondo and Storch)

Probably true, but I don't feel Elizondo and Storch were as good as The Glove and Colin Wolfe, let alone Daz and Warren.

Dre Dre = West Coast P Diddy

Don't understand why it takes so long to buy yourself an album. If any of us on this forum had Dre's industry contacts and bank balance , we could have made a classic album in a month or two. How hard would it be to get 15 hot beats, guest verses and some ghostwriting done?

Listened to some relapse stuff and BISD the other day, and IMO he's still the best producer,  just baffles me why he wont produce his own shit.

It is actually possible that Dre is at the point of his career where he's taking a more behind the scenes role and giving credit where credit is due. None of us actually knows what happens in the studio, what kind of input Dre has and so on. I'm just saying though, that could be the case

Im thinkin, that its still the same way of delivering music by Dre and his musicians, other producers and beat makers - except he dont take the credits, like haters used to bitch about.
It also clearly showed who is a hater on this forum with no questions, just check the people who used to bitch that Dre doesnt make his own music and take credits for it, and who is bitchin now (i see some names in this thread).

Ya it'd be funny if someone asked him an actual fresh question one day instead of "when is detox coming out?"  I'd love to see one of those TMZ guys yell "Hey Dre how come its takin so long to put out Detox?  I saw you on the cover of XXL last year and you said you gonna put it out?  What happened"

That would be good  :o

i agree...i think dre is simply giving the beatmakers the production credit nowadays, whereas back in the day, warren g, daz, storch, elizando, mel-man, focus, etc. were the beatmakers, but dre was getting production credit, cuz once he touched a beat, he made it his own. dre's gotta realize that his name NEEDS to be in the production credits, cuz whether he's makin the beats or not, we know he's producing them, and he's been known as hip-hops greatest producer for some time......cut the experimental ish and take it back 2 tha basics.

i don't care how involved you are on a beat if YOU don't create that muthafucka from scratch to the final creation you may have produced it but essentially it's not your track and if that's how dre worked from the chronic until now he's not the greatest producer in hip hop. if prokeds create a sneaker and nike puts a check on the side that doesn't make it a nike sneaker.

its just "beat by" just blaze and produced by dr. dre :)

i agree...i think dre is simply giving the beatmakers the production credit nowadays, whereas back in the day, warren g, daz, storch, elizando, mel-man, focus, etc. were the beatmakers, but dre was getting production credit, cuz once he touched a beat, he made it his own. dre's gotta realize that his name NEEDS to be in the production credits, cuz whether he's makin the beats or not, we know he's producing them, and he's been known as hip-hops greatest producer for some time......cut the experimental ish and take it back 2 tha basics.
i don't care how involved you are on a beat if YOU don't create that muthafucka from scratch to the final creation you may have produced it but essentially it's not your track and if that's how dre worked from the chronic until now he's not the greatest producer in hip hop. if prokeds create a sneaker and nike puts a check on the side that doesn't make it a nike sneaker.

dre does more than put a damn check on the side, trust that....he takes a basic beat, laces it, gives it life, makes it his own, takes it from decent to classic. thats why when u hear a dre production you KNOW it's a dre production...producing is a whole lot more than just beat-making. any muthafucka alive can make a beat...but to produce a track to perfection, making it sound like the classic shit dre has put out time and time again, only a few people on this earth can do that.

cuz thats what he does...not sayin he doesnt create some of his own beats from scratch, but a lot of the classic dre productions have been simple that beats producers would bring to dre. if dre was feelin it enough, he would take the simple loop and turn it into a classic beat. in essence, that is what producing actually is. layering the bass, drums, melodies, inputting his signature sounds, rifts, classic build-ups leading into the chorus- the overall crisp sound that gives the beat life and allows it to thump just right....this is what Dre does. if u heard a beat like "Respect" before Dre put his hands on it, you'd understand how much more work goes into the actual production part of things than the simple beatmaking. thats why most who have worked with dre and actually understand the musical aspect of things have said he is a genius and on a whole nother level....and the mufuckaz who dont know as much about music, like bad azz, think dre is stealing beats, when he is in fact producing them. why do u think daz, mel-man, storch have never been able to make a beat on the same level as Dre once they left his side? it's obvious. Dre is a musical genius. yes, he does make his own beats, but he is more focused on the production end of things, so a lot of the time he just lets his team bring him the simple drum patterns/melodies, and he laces 'em...simple as that.

sorry but i'm tired of dr. dre. not in the sense of hearing him so much but we don't hear him enough and when we do the shit is sub par (lately). i'm not coppin an album from a person who not only doesn't write his own lyrics but is not even producin the shit (from what it seems). what's the purpose of buying the shit ?

uhmmm.... listening to good music?

yeah from a puppet. there is great music to listen to son but if you ain't writing it or producin it and you are producer. you might as well slap milli vanilli's name on it.

well...i don't care about the name if music is good. but this is me...

(it doesn't mean Dre should take credit for the tracks he hasn't made)

i try not to engage in bashing people on this board lately but i'm a firm believer that if you are not black that n word should never come out your mouth.  i mean this is america and you have a right to say what you want but you might say it around the wrong person or people in the wrong parts of town and it could be lights out for you. i think black people have come too far to just let any individual(s) use the term just cause we as blacks use it.

your a good educated kid with a wholesome family background, not a white boy who ran around the hood who dont know any better and not a brazen wigger who just walks around saying it to be down, your saying it for a reaction which i guess is cool and all but still seems mad fuckin lame bro.

there are other ways to troll cats.
he'll learn. we've seen time and time again where real dudes have showed up at doorsteps all for the wankstas to run and hide.

the white man coined the "nigger"-word, therefore i am allowed to use it...
some white men sleeps with their relatives too would you do it ?

logical comparison.  ;)

face it, my friend. nothin to get uptight about. its just a word - ill call u a "nigga" if i damn well please. n fuck you n your post-traumatic 1920's-feelings, if you dont like it
call me what you want but i guarantee a few things internet gangster you would do it to my face because you are pussy as a pair of panties and i would trash you cracker. and then i'd tape your mother giving me dome because she shoulda swallowed you instead carryin infection in her stomach for 9 months. i don't let your comments bother because you like others will learn sooner or later and you on the internet displaying characteristics of a coward.

ur goin to do what to my mother?
look at this psychopath

if ur catchin feelings if im merely sayin a word,, then thats ur damn problem (and u should get some help) -- and i am not eligible to stop using it, cus its not illegal (threats are illegal) -- n its more patehtic gettin emotionally upset over a word and succumb to violent-threats (specially over the internet), then actually using it.

good look on using the cracker-word btw, psycho. shows where u stand, when ur actually using that word in a negative content

stupid idiot, smh
u ethered urself

you wouldn't do shit but bow down bitch.  LMFAO. and for the record if any white boy ever approached and greeted me like that. it would be a problem. it's not just the n word that you came at me wit that warranted my response. it's the fact you thought you could say what you said to me and it's ok. so if you wanna disrespect me allow yourself to be disrespected. and also as i'm typing i'm not upset at all. for what ?!?!?! you're no threat to me.

To say the N word on a forum just shows who you really are. To say it just for giggles or trolling on a forum means you're not here for discussing music. You are only here to win your arguments and boost a little bit your ego. It's fucked up man. I mean, at least try to show some respect for the culture you are following.

not the point. what i'm saying is i'm not gonna do anything to them but whose to say the next guy wont. i took time to school jokers because it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt and then people saying thats fucked up but these same people did nothing to diffuse the situation. at least you can say i laid out the reprocussions of such foolish behavior. it's wild i had to bring dude's mom up to hurt his feelings but he didn't care about trying to offend me as a black man so..... just be thankful that's as far i went so far.

i don't think it should be for giggles because as you and i've both seen where real situations which were in the begining believed to be funny but later turned deadly because of shit being done for giggles. i may not be able to reach you but you may run into someone worst and you be made a front page story out of. i don't think you would want to have ya moms grieving over you like that. if you are then that says a lot about you as a person.

u see, this is the problem wit certain kinda individuals today. this butthurtness-tension. gettin bent over words. this aggraveted/negative tension is creating "silence" and "censorship" in 2011

don take it out on me, if my great great great great great grandfather raped your great great great great great grandmother n burned her alive. this "post-traumatic 1920's-mentality" bullshit is hilarious n pathetic at the same time

its just a word, freedom of speech will always rise above emotions n feelings.

lets make a deal, i will never use the word "nigga" ever ever again,
if u promise that you and every other black person in the word, will never ever call me "pale", white", "honky", "cracker", "redneck", "blue eyed" or blonde" --cuz that shit might offend me, n i might snap at any minute n slit ur throat off
it all comes down to "words" and the indivdual tension that might get trigged
and since these specific words offend me, ppl are not allowed to say em around me.. black or brown folks. never ever ever, cuz u might die. i will kill u, and tape ur mother while shes giving me dome

The fact you judge me based off of forum rep, where people I intentionally annoy dislike me, shows what kind of person you are. People like you just get tight as fuck over words on the computer & jump to "you're a loser" because you can't do anything else, but REALLY want to because you're so pissed off.

It's the beauty of the entire thing.
