Yeah...There's been big talk of the first Israeli to go into space these last few months...Everyone was happy, and proud of the mission taking place...Last night, when they took off, the space shuttle blew up...6 Americans, and 1 Israeli...All dead...Very tragic... :'(

Yeah, horrible tragedy. The only solice is that they all knew the risks, every astronaut knows that they're attempting something crazy. I feel bad for their families, though; it's gonna be a really emotional time, and I would imagine all of them had children.

Well, there is risk involved with everything you do in life...Going into space isn't such a huge risk...A lot more people succeded than failed, when traveling to space...PEaCe

Im devistated. I've loved following the space program for some time now. Stuff like this shouldn't happen to good people.
I wish people would stop saying that there were 5 Americans, 1 Indian, and one Isreali on board. 7 heros died today. It's a huge risk that they took, but it seems like space travel was a ordinary thing now-a-days. People just took it for granted. I hope this is a wakeup call. My thoughts and prayers go out to the widows, families, and chilidren that lost somebody today.

Yeah it's a horrible tradgedy.
Still, I dont think space travel is that dangerous.
Compare it to train crashes, plane crashes and car crashes over the same weekend and I guess the space program would qualify for being one of the safest means of transport.
Its a sad day for america and the progress of mankind. Long live the space program.

anyways back 2 topic... whats really freaky is me and optical went to an IMAX cinema yesterday and watched a cool 3D movie thing about them building the international space station n that... some of the people killed were in that movie.. freaky or what

there is NOTHING safe about space travel, sure more people lived than died, but the odds are pretty bad... i'm sure they all knew that, too.
anyways, I know this guy at church, and today he was talking, and said (he's like 20) that two years ago he went to Kennedy space center, and met Commander Husband, and talked to him about two hours. For the past two years, they've been emailing each other back and forth, just about different things, because this kid is really interested in space exploration, and he was just saying today, how excited Commander Husband was about this trip, and how fun it was going to be, and everything. Pretty sad, he was pretty torn up becuase he'd got to be pretty decent friends with the guy.

Man, that is really very sad and tragic. R.I.P to those people.
And imo, space travel is very dangerious, like when the shuttel was reentering, its moving at an extreamly high speed, and its extreamly hot, like a fireball, or like a big rock just coming down, a slight error can result in chaos. And you cant really compare it to to train crashes, car crashes or anything, cuz there are millions of cars on the road everyday, they dont launch shuttels daily you know .. peace
