NO NO NO.
"How to rob" was just a glimse of fame..
He was virtually unknown to the regular hiphop-buyer.
"How to rob" made a buzz because 50 made fun of famous acts, and people overlooked the fact that 50 had doper tracks than this..
He made a lot of dope tracks, but what does that help when you get fucked over by your label?
His label didn't even want to have meetings with 50, because they were scared of him, and partly his enemies.
They saw 50 and his crew coming to meetings with bulletproof vests, and that scared them off, as well as the shooting-incident.
So that argument doesn't hold weight.. people might have known about the name 50 Cent, but very few people actually checked out other stuff than "How to rob".
It's quite difficult making a buzz for yourself when you don't have a label, but 50 did it either way through mixtape-DJ's.
Next argument please!

Isn't that exactly what 50 eventually did?
And after some hard work got 10 times bigger than E-40 by signing on a paper??
U try too hard to find something against 50, when the route he went is not much different than the rappers you like.

He WILL push units.
And he created such a buzz that he could basically choose which label to sign to.

Nevertheless, We can all agree dat at this moment he is da biggest star in da world.....
-
Since when did artists start going platinum totally on their own??
Of course you gotta have a label behind you..
And he was in a position to choose exactly what he wanted:
50 Cent: “I had deals on the table with a few other [labels] like J Records, Jive Records, Warner Brothers, Capital, Universal.
