I'm not sure how the mods (or whoever bans people around here) are looking at it but my guess is that if you just post some crap in every other thread, not to add anything to the discussion, but just to increase your post count, it could be considered spamming. And that could lead to a ban, I guess.

No clue who you can ask, and if they would even do it. Thing is, why care so much for a number that's next to your screen name? Post counts and karma are the biggest piles of crap on forums.
