how many of yall americans thinks that george bush actually is an intelligent leader? how many of yall could let your lives depend on him

I do.....that is why I voted for him. Not only do think that Bush is extremely intelligent, I also think he has surronded himself with brilliant people like Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, etc

I would certainly trust him not to purposefully waste my life. He is an intelligent, articulate man. However, people make fun of him because : a)he's American and b) he's dyslexic

Let me just clarify that point Owen, people dont just dislike him because he's american and dyslexic, thats just being stupid, it's because he is a threat to world security with his foreign policy that people dislike him.
As for whether or not he's intelligent, I dont know the guy so I cant say, though from the outside he does give the impression of being a dimwit, but who knows?
Just a side note, an MRBI poll in ireland today revealed the following results:
Who do you fear most:
Saddam Hussein 39%
George W Bush 60%
I doubt people fear his nationality or his dyslexia, but his foreign policy.

Saddam has not threatened the world and especially not Ireland. Howver Bushs attempts to police the world are going to lead to increased terrorism which could easily lead to places like Sellafield in england being targeted, which would obliterate the whole country of ireland withot really affecting london. That is why people fear Bush more than saddam.
And sorry trauma, I misread the question. I think the reason people make fun of him is coz of the funny things he says, as maestro listed below. Maybe it's coz he's dyslexic but dyslexia doesnt distort sentences just certain letters within words
Anyway, of course we all do stupid shit, but we dont have thousands of nuclear weapons at our disposal. The worst we could do is have our friends laugh at us. Bush could start a nuclear war.

On the real, I have dyslexia, my brother does too. My grandpa did groundbreaking research on dyslexia in the 60s. Who is gonna know, I-Bo, who has "read about it in school" (lol), or me? Oh well.
Bush may be a danger to the world because he's evil, but not because he's stupid. I know of no-one who has met the man who actually thought him stupid.

Since when has Bush been dyslexic? I'm just wondering as when i lived in America (99-2001, which was during the election campaign and his first 7 months in office) they never said that the reason he screws up all the time in speeches is because he's dyslexic, in fact they didn't give any official reason for it.

Sure, I will. You question was why did they never give dyslexia as the reason he screws up speeches. The reason: Because it doesn't matter. who cares? Most americans could care less, we know what he's saying, you do too, you just want to be a dick about it. People screw up. Big deal. Misstating something doesn't mean you're gonna 'accidentally' bomb somebody, it means you screw up vocal communication sometimes. It's not big deal. Why do public figures always have to apologize for what they are? Yall are assholes for beating a man down like that because of a speech problem.

Yup. But I'd rather rely on the experiences of people of have actually met him-I have never heard someone who has personally met him say he is anything but intelligent and charming. Like I say, he may be evil, but that's entirely different.

The point I was trying to make, is that people throw around opinions and stereotypes like they are the God given truth in this forum. People expect to be taken seriously without providing facts of any sort.

I dunno what "facts" you want to back up points. Maybe if papers online hadnt gone private there may have been a chance of this. The point of posting on an article you read, is others may have seen it too, or heard something that disproves it, and it can be discussed. The Irish Times and The Irish Independant, the two papers I get a chance to read charge online subsciptions so I cant offer you links for them. Well, I could, if ya wanna subscribe.

Psychologically speaking, he suffers from an Oedipus complex since he is a former alcoholic and according to his dad a failure. The fact that he stopped drinking and soon afterwards became a devout Christian is an obvious indication for sublimation. In other words, he's a psychological wreck.
