What you lost I gained


When we started out
Now I think that it was heartless how
The first words that came out of your head
Were that I was on the wrong side of the tracks, dick head
I should of drawn the line on my judgement
That you would have a problem with respect
After all of the 5 years of suffering
What you lost I gained, no more neglect

But I walked the road
Erased myself from thinking of doubt
Rationality froze
Now I have only heart-break to show for myself
I should of let go
Realized whatever you learn to love to set free
Whatever the lessons learned
Release your wings and set what cannot be loved
Let be

Our time together was in a bubble so deep
We couldn’t swim to the surface for air
Argued about menial things
Demanded right over wrong because it wasn’t fair
I should of showed the white flag
Swung it high above my pride and contentment
Left when the wounds were still fresh
Easier to recover when theres not a level
Of resentment
