Yeah Blood On The Leaves and Guilt Trip is where the album finds itself for a minute
The rest is just a cacophony of sounds and really basic lyrics
its a 6 - 6.5/10 album (6.5 being kind)

"I Am A God", "New Slaves", "Hold My Liquor", "Send It Up", "Bound 2" are all solid

The most impressive thing is that the listener literally gets to experience what state of mind Kanye is currently in. That's always been his biggest characteristic, and at times it polarizes a lot of fans (808's being the most famous) but then it could be pure gold (Through the Wire, Power, Devil in a Blue Dress, Gone). This mentality has resulted in such a diverse discography. Not many artists, rappers, groups, etc can claim that as these 6 albums in Kanye's career could. Yeezus is a fine album to have in his discography.

The thing for me with this guy and most of his music, is that it just feels hollow. I realize that rap is bragging; that it stems from that and has only very recently grown into anything but (yes William, I know stuff about rap too). Buut, Kanye just comes across as completely arrogant, lifeless, tryhard, and douchey. Which is probably what he is in real life - which I couldn't care less about, except for the fact that it is obviously seeping and teeming from his musical ambitions and recordings. Hes the kind of rapper that goes from either the emo side (which is unbelievable since he's so self-describedly "cool" and "above" everything) or the "nigga im rich" side (to me, this is him following the trends being the complete opposite of being innovative which some people seem to think he is).
On a lighter note, I get that guy and Classic Material confused when I read their shit all the time lmao.

It's a characteristic that that isn't positive per se, or something that one can support. But it's definitely interesting to see the development that Kanye has experienced over the years. The more money he's made, the hypocrisy has become even more intense. He tries to be cool sure, but his pain is quite evident. The guy's mom died from complications of plastic surgery and around the same time him and his long-term fiancée called it quits. Something even to this day he still raps about. I don't think a rapper compares to him in terms of dealing with what comes along with fame, and he's putting it out on display for everyone to listen to.

i'll say this as I feel it pertains to me: everybody here has favorite artists, teams, etc. and it's ok if one or another doesn't necessarily like what I like and I shouldn't expect them to. as far as lookin' at rappers or any entertainers as a hero or whatever it's not the case in fact if you go and purchase whatever these guys are puttin' out we are in fact their heroes...we the supporter put them in the position of power and influence that they are in. so when midwest say he's not turnin' his back on a favorite artist of his I share his sentiments...I been buyin' t.i. records since '03 and I will always support my favorite artists and others that I like because that's what I feel you should do if you're a lover of music.

there's nothin' to defend I've put several records in the t.i. thread that doesn't discuss the trap for homie and 90's west coast rap is not extinct. I can name 5 west coast albums from the 90's that no current west coast artist can outdo you sayin' that about west coast music shows you have no respect or knowledge of west coast music....dinosaurs are extinct that west coast music you speak of is timeless and still prevalent to this day.

Ok so I found the whole album on YouTube. Listened to the intro, then the song with that "fallen in love" sample, then skipped around to a few random spots.
And I completely agree with your assessment. I'd also add there is no way that I could even tolerate anything that I heard for more than a minute without feeling agitated.
Further, Kanye just seems like a miserable bastard. Listen to his music from Graduation and prior, he sounds like he's actually having fun and his music was soulful. Now it's pretty much pretentious wanna be avante garde crap.

I haven't heard anything from this album yet but I will get it in due course. I enjoyed Kanye's last album and this one is receiving some good reviews in places. I'll give it a chance despite the bashing its receiving on here.
