Wow this looks like something worth watching. The need to do more of these on a grand scale with stars as well as underground mc's. This market has yet to be tapped. I know its freestyle and any style goes but most of the new "freestylers" are spoken word with punch lines and I find that wack.

^ yeah I hate that shit. Most of that shit is all memorized shit that they use over and over and just change the name of the rapper they're battling. Also way too slow I like when freestylers flow consistent not this stop n go spoken word shit. It would be nice if someone would freestyle with a different style against that shit that would throw the person that they are battling a curve ball. Its fucking freestyle they shouldnt use the same style anyways...

Yeah I recall a recent Slaughterhouse interview where they stated that they'd be setting up a battle rap reality show in conjunction with their forthcoming album. It's a good way to bring battle rap to a new crowd and promote 'Glass House' at the same time.

Props to Em and Shady for getting behind it. At the end of the promotion it says "Witness the birth of the next great American sport". That's great that battling is developing into a major sporting event in the U.S.

Agreed.. but that's like kind of how they used to do it in the Scribble Jam days and for most of hip-hop's history. I prefer that style as well because I am ol school... but the new generation of today has popularized battling with leagues all over the country, I even participated in one in my home city... so you got to give them props for that. And I'm happy to see hip-hop creating a new markets now with this battlin.

Definitely props to Joe Budden. That's what makes this shit really interesting is to see a signed artist who is selling records step into the ring with these hungry cats who really represent the underground...
That's why I loved it when Canibus had the balls to face Dizaster. Even though he failed, it was an epic collapse that made hip-hop history. So I still give Canibus props for doing it. It was a great event that headz will never forget. It also helped popularize the sport.

The event was on par except the mic's, the rappers where over paid and wack. All hollow did was rant and try to justify why his facebook status is what it is.
This was a good thing for hip hop but it was sabotaged by a STAN, this has Aubrey "Drake" written all over it. Hollow kept saying Royce was in Buddens ear, but hollow had his sugar daddy Aubrey Drake, some how that went unnoticed or maybe it was and they kept that bitch nuccas name out of it for a real reason.... a reason you kids can not phatom. You kids want this '$aint nick' in hip hop, I Do Not!

The production overall was brutal. How they couldn't get working mics for the main event is beyond me. And yeah, no HD is weak.
I thought everyone's bars were extremely weak besides Murda Mook. He destroyed it. Lux had a good first round and then sucked it up big time.
Hollow won 2-1. Can't believe Budden put the mic down to boos. That was one of the most bitch made things I've ever seen. Hollow was weak though. Nigga was making the same jokes over and over about how Budden wasn't poppin' mainstream, yet 95% of rap have no idea who he is. Talking about niggas women. The rest was just whining how he doesn't get paid lol.
Seemed like there was serious tension between Budden and Hollow. If diss tracks are exchanged I expect Budden to ROAST him lol.
Eminem made it seem like he wants to make this a monthly kinda thing. I wouldn't pay for it again unless there was a main attraction from the mainstream trying to compete.

yup it's as if they wanted to make this thing look bad. busta rhymes was in the audience and they were constantly showing him, giving him props for being there (like thanks for coming buddy!!). crowd looked to be mostly reserved white kids. shit was corny.

no you misunderstand , i think battle rap is cool...its never been super profitable but its an important part of the tiers of hiphop you make too many assumptions on who i am or what im about....can you blame me for being too skeptical to be paying for this when it turned out how it did and theres so many gimmicks and shit in the battle circuit? i knew one of these guys was gonna do some fuckshit like daylyt did...thats not battle rap and im not paying for that.
i had mixed emotions on this when i heard about it i thought em and rosenberg and his crew would make sure this shit was put together right but ill wait for the second installment before i tell you if this shit is a waste of complete time. shady gets a pass hes trying to do some shit that hasnt been done before but these pussy ass rappers need to step it up and get better judges and for the love of god get a crowd that actually likes battle rap.

The crowd did suck. Watch any battle with these top cats on Youtube and the crowd is so into it. This was a bunch of white boys and Slaughterhouse/Eminem fans hoping Eminem would show up who never seen a battle.
