Regularly listening to some lesser known snoop cuts the last couple days, so I'm asking you:
Which are his most underrated songs ? Can be from albums, mixtapes and everything else.
I'ma go with a song most people won't know that well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCCOEn1uafc
Dope as fuck. Classic Beat, Snoops Part is great so is Sean Pauls, and the hook is awesome.
-
Snoop Dogg Feat. Lil' Half Dead - Show You How The Gangstas Do [Terrace Martin]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huvLFQjxlQw
Without doubt (in my mind), one of Snoop's hardest tracks since Doggystyle. The beat, lyrics, flow, subject matter were all on point.
These are the type of songs Snoop needs to make more of.
-
Sixx minutes" is underrated classic Snoop off the Doggfather album .

About to listen to this, expecting much from your description ^^
And @westside159 how is sixx minutes classic snoop ? Beat is dope, but snoop couldve done much better on it. At least in my opinion.
Another really underrated snoop song is "Big Dog" from his "Raw N Uncut" OST/Compilation.
-
from Da Game is to be Sold, not to be Told :
I Can't Take The Heat : always loved Mia X's verses and Snoop came correct, classic sample and nice hook
Game of Life : Bay 2 LA, Steady Mobbin and Snoop, not the best song using the 5 Minutes of Funk sample but still dope
other songs :
Let's Get Blown : modern G-Funk, pharell killed his parts and you can't go wrong with a Slave sampled
Signs : might get a lot of hate for this but I do think it's a dope, catchy single and kudos for having Charlie Wilson on the track redoing his Early in the Morning bridge.
Succ a Dicc : off Welcome to tha Chuuuuch Volume 1 with Daz and Uncle June Bugg, perfect summer song

I like these songs from the "Unreleased Heat Rocks" album: "Wanna Bz ft. Nate Dogg, Jeezy", "Look Around ft. J. Black", "Long Gone ft. Denaun". Also since Pharrell has linked up with Snoop again, my favorite song by them is "It Blows My Mind" from the Neptunes album. Also the song "My Peoples" http://youtu.be/SDcQJl8PBEM . And the song "Pop Lockin" off the Silk the Shocker album which always felt like a Snoop song to me. And "Feels So Good" from the Ride OST.

Yeah, I always loved that cut. BCT was the last Snoop album I really enjoyed.

Groupie from Doggfather 8) This should be third single, instead of Vapors.

Actually knew this song, its on the Unreleased Heatrocks Compilation, where its called "Gangstas Due". Still dope as fuck. Bumpin that song regularly.
-
-"Ride On" feat. Kurupt - Single off of the Caught Up soundtrack
-"You Bring Me Up" KC and JoJo single
-"Hooked" - banger on the I Got The Hookup Soundtrack
-"Still A G Thang" - I loved this song from the moment it came out. Meach produced the one bright spot on an otherwise garbage album prod. by Beats by the Pound
-"Buck Um" - This song was sensational. Right away when you heard it open up the Top Dogg album you knew Snoop had finally returned to old form
-"Life Goes On" - Touching solo track to end the first Eastsidaz album.
-"Purple" -rare version hard to find. This was on a bootleg of what became Tha Last Meal. Seemed like it had elements from Dre's "Zoom".
-"Ya'll Gone Miss Me" - A great track to close out the Last Meal album
-"Go Away"- Another hott joint from Last Meal. Kind of a more conscious Snoop joint. Snoop had really gotten back into a zone during that period of West Resurgence surrounding the Up In Smoke Tour
-"Balls of Steal" - Another nice solo joint from the Eastsidaz first album. I know he basically remade an old school hip-hop joint from the 80's on this one, shit was dope.
-"Smooth"?? feat. Nate and Techniec? - this was an unreleased joint from the Fucc Deathrow bootleg around 98'. It's the song where Tech says he's the "Doggfather's lil homie" and Snoop says, "Ain't that funny/ how I got lil homies now/ I remember when I was just a lil Bow Wow"
-"Change Gone Come" feat. Val Young - This was actually supposed to be a single for a 3rd album, it was even featured in that Source cover article when Snoop was trying to get off of Death Row
-"Rock Your Body Rock Your Soul" - feat. Nate, Kurupt, E-40 - another nice cut off the Fuck Deathrow bootleg

There's too many to list, but if we're talkin' about songs that weren't on his albums, here's some of my favorites.
"Back Up Hoe" (feat. Goldie Loc)
"Do Do (Battlecat G-Mix)" (feat. Beanie Sigel, Soopafly, Freeway, E-White & Kokane)
"Gangsta Move"
"Hooked"
"Just Dippin (Battlecat G-Mix)" (feat. Dr. Dre & Butch Cassidy)
"Legend Of Jimmy Bones" (with RBX & MC Ren)
"Ride On (Caught Up)" (with Kurupt)
I know i'm missin' some songs. Can't forget the remix of "Murder Was The Case", that's my favorite Snoop song of all times.

Agree with a few of yours like "Hooked", "Just Dippin", and "Ride On"....
...but as for "Murder Was The Case" that track is highly rated as one of the biggest and most celebrated tracks of Snoops career. Even alternative heads loved that shit when it was out. The track was so huge they remixed it and made a whole damn mini-movie for it. That video version was in heavy rotation on MTV. Whether your talking about the Doggystyle version of the track or the Soundtrack video version either way that joint was fuccin huge. One of Snoop's all-time classic performances was at the MTV Awards when Swoop (?) brought him out in a wheelchair at a funeral on stage and he performed Murder Was the Case and declared his innocence at the end. That's like the largest moment of Snoop's career. Saying "Murder Was the Case" was under-rated is like saying "Gin and Juice" was under-rated.

It was Big C-Style who brought him out in a wheelchair. Ricky Harris (DJ E-Z Dick & Sal-T-Nuttz) was the priest. I've seen that performance on Youtube, shit was dope.

Didn't know the dude from W Balls was the Priest... wasn't sure it was Swoop that's why I put the ??, so it was C Style.

Also that freestyle off the funk flex album "Real G's" where he rAps over biggie beats is a personal classic. The 213 album to me doesn't get enough props they chose the wrong singles at the time, with G-unit around I think people expected a gangsta album full of shoot em up lil em songs but it was a dope ass summer album about bitches and fun!
Twist yo body
My dirty ho
Run on up
Ups and downs
Appreciation
Neva love a ho
-
My heat goes boom
Ups and downs
I agree with those two.
...and by the way anyone else remember seeing the MWTC MTV performance LIVE?
-
Yea 213 album was dope, but mutherfuckers back in a days expected material from 90's.
-
@soopa-man
I could never really get into that real gs freestyle. When I first heard the hook over that juicy beat, I was expecting snoop to let loose over that classic beat for 3 minutes straight. So I was pretty dissapointed by the concept, he shouldve done seperate freestyles on those biggie beats. And also his freestyle wasn't even that great either, something I normally can't say for a snoop freestyle.
To throw some more underrated cuts in:
-The Way Life Used To Be
-My Own Way
-We Rest N Cali
-This Weed Iz Mine
-Cold Game
-I Dont Need No Bitch
-Take U Home
All from the doggumentary album. Great album dispite a few fillers and just underrated as a whole. Those are some of the dopest tracks of it.
-
my favorite under rated and some unreleased are these
Poor Young Dave
Eastside Connect Game with C Style
Niggaz Is Lyk Dat with Chocolate
Crooks N Doggs with Crooked i
Doggystyle (the song)
Every Single Day (this might be a legendary song on dubcc but most people never heard it)
Eat a Dick
Keep It Real Dogg
The Shaggy Show with ICP
The Genie with Bad Azz
the lost sessions vol 1 cd was better than doggfatha to me

Do you know anything about the bootleg that included "Purple" ?
Maybe a Tracklist ? Is it the version of the album that suge put out on the death row website to fuck up snoops sales or is that the advanced version ?

lol @"Gin and Juice 2" that was like the lowest point of Snoop's career. That song was trash and an insult to the work Dre put in on the O.G. version that made Snoop the Michael Jordan of rap in 93-94

I remember that it came out like late summer 00' on all the forums that pre-dated this one. So anyone that was around then might know better than me. Maybe Sccit remembers. It also had the track "Ya'll Gone Miss Me" on it, the version seemed slightly different. I just remember those were the two songs I really bumped from the leak. Seemed like all the other tracks were throw away tracks that didn't make any albums.
Sorry, can't tell you any more than that... just remember zoning out to those two tracks "Purple" and "Ya'll Gone Miss Me". I was surprised when "Purple" didn't make the album but later I think I found out it had something to do with the sample used. At the time I didn't recognize it but I think it's the same sample as Dre used in "Zoom". Then for the chorus it was like this dope guitar riff, where they stripped the beat of pretty much everything but the guitar and Snoop rapped "Your the only thing that I love... The one I adore... Your-the-only-thing that I love... the one I adore" then it was this ill transition back into Snoop's next 16...
...damn those were the days, my first year after high school graduation living on my own, I'd clean my whole apartment up and then enjoy a cigar and bump those two joints looking my window

That's not "Purple". That's "Sunshine" aka "You I Adore" and it was produced by Dre. If i remember right one of Hittman's unreleased songs had the same sample on it. "Purple" is a different song, it features Mr. Malik aka Lil' Hershey Loc and Lady V, you can check it out from Youtube if you haven't heard it.
-
Came in to post the exact same thing @Okka
I also got that song "Purple" with Lil Malik & Lady V, also a very dope song by the way.
It's You I Adore/Sunshine is also known as "Luv You" on the Advance Version of "Tha Last Meal".
Didn't know it was produced by Dr. Dre though, thats pretty cool. Dope Beat.
But it would still be cool to know something about that TLM Bootleg @ابرهم عبدالصمد if you could ask scitt about it that would be dope.

I know the "Purple" that is on youtube is different... but back in 00' when I had this bootleg the joint I'm referring to was called "Purple". So I don't know homie.. I mean certainly you got it straightened out now, but I'm just going off what I remember from back in the day
...yeah, just checked youtube and today it's under "You I Adore" (Sunshine) on youtube... as some Detox leak. Interesting

Interesting
nah, its from Dretox, a mixtape from couple of years ago
"Sunshine" leaked ages ago, that mixtape isn't even official.

gin n juice 2
etc.
lol @"Gin and Juice 2" that was like the lowest point of Snoop's career. That song was trash and an insult to the work Dre put in on the O.G. version that made Snoop the Michael Jordan of rap in 93-94
Personally i think the song is dope as hell and if it weren't called "gin n juice 2" iam sure it would get alot of love. But if you expected it to sound like a doggy style left over then no wonder you would feel that way.

sorry pedophile man but i'm gonna have to agree with white muslim on this one
-
anti beats by the pound? but fair enough i personally like the track.
-
Odd that I would come across this thread as I just made a mix of the lesser-known Snoop tracks that I am feeling and a lot of these were on there.
Buck Em
Trust Me
Change Gone Come
21 Jump Street (with Tray Deee)
Go Away
Ballin'
Eyez Closed
Feelz Good 2 B DPG
Slow Down
The Strong Will Eat The Weak

Another track im listenin to a lot lately is "Watcha Gon Do" from "Da Game...."
Dope song, very west coast sounding.
-
R&G : I Love To Give You Light - Promise I - Pass It Pass It
Paid Tha Cost : Stoplight - Bo$$ Playa - From Long Beach 2 Brick City
-
R&G : I Love To Give You Light - Promise I - Pass It Pass It
Paid Tha Cost : Stoplight - Bo$$ Playa - From Long Beach 2 Brick City
Pass It, Pass It was dope as fuck. Same goes for I love to give you light, and also Oh No with 50.
As for PTCTBDB :
Tha Bo$$ would like to see you had an unbelievably dope Beat, shame snoop didn't rap on it. There was an very long and very good interview here where he also talked about this track, and maybe making a full length song out of it, but unfortunately it never happend. :-\
-
Family Reunion (feat. Daz, Warren G, Bad Azz and Uncle Reo) - one of my favorite tracks on the advance of Paid Tha Cost
After Dark (feat. E-White, Kokane, and Warren G), love that song
Lifestyles of a G (feat. Goldie Loc) - came out on some compilation in like 00, Eastsidaz early 00's shit
Breakfast in my Bed (bacc up ho) (feat. Goldie Loc) - Battlecat vintage production
Just a Baby Boy (feat. Tyrese and Mr Tan) - fucking loved that song, would always play the video on my Baby Boy DVD
May I (feat. Malik) - fell in love with it the first time I heard it
Heat Roccs - always wondered what that song was at the end of Dogg Pound Gangstaz until I bought Dead Man Walking
Bussn Rocks - Heat Roccs's remake by DJ Quik, funky as hell, took me a little time to fully appreciate it though
Gangsta Ride retail version : people praise Daz's version, but I always preferred the version with Silkk, I thought Silkk's verse was actually dope and Snoop murdered his verse, way more so than on the original version
Feels So Good - monstrous song that kinda went unnoticed on the Ride OST, one of the few songs with Snoop and Crooked I, everybody went hard
I Got That Fire (feat. E-White and Daz) - alright it's a Daz track but I remember when DPGC U Know Wht I'm Throwin Up first leaked (the australian retail version with only 15 tracks), i was disappointed by the whole effort and then this song played, I was like great beat, nice verse from Daz, ok verse from E-White and then Snoop's verse came on and i was like that's Snoop's best verse in years, really an underrated song
-
Could you hook that "Lifestyles Of A G" Track up ?
-
boss life

Also underrated are the great majority of the "Welcome To Tha Chuuch" Tracks. These 9 mixtapes were dope as hell, so many songs by snoop, daz, bad azz and many more that are dope as fuck. Just been listenin to "Gangsta Shit" from Vol. 2 8)
-
Just stumbled upon that "Get A Light" Track form BCT, dope song 8)
Also Gangbangin 101 & Crazy are great. The whole album is dope as fuck, but these 3 joints seem to be underrated as fuck.
-
The Big Squeeze got some dope shit on it too.
31 flavourz with Kurupt goes hard,
Fuckin is good for you (if thats a correct title)
-
What also got largely ignored is the song "Feels Like Heaven" from the "Thats My Work 3" Tape.
Old school snoop & soopafly smooth as fuck track.
-
Anyone here remembers "20 Dollars To My Name" from "Da Game...." ?
Listening to that song regularly again, dope as fuck.
Even Silkk comes correct on this one.
-
What is also a criminally underrated song is "Still A G Thang"
Dope west coast production by meech wells and snoop flows great on it + the lyrics are also dope. The best song on the "Da Game..." album for sure.
-
Anyone here knows the song "Bang This" by Butch Cassidy & Snoop Dogg ?
Sick ass song, snoops verse is great, so is the beat & butch.
What do you think of the song ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7FbBEeDf7Q
-
What do y'all think of snoops remake of "Pay Ya Dues" ?
Very nice but pretty unknown track, snoop is one of the very few rappers that can do good remakes....

It was supposed to be on Butch Cassidy's solo album, but it never came out. I still wish he would drop an album one day.

Butch was always great, the old dogghouse/doggystyle artists were the shit man....

Damn, another one of the albums from dogghouse/doggystyle that sadly never came out...
-
A bit offtopic but do you guys here know anymore songs by snoop & goldie loc / tray deee / tha eastsidaz ?
I downloaded 3 compilations a while ago with a large number of songs that snoop did with them and (in some cases) that i never heard of....
The compilation wasn't official but seemingly a bunch of unreleased/leaked/rare tracks thrown together but still interesting songs on there.
-
I like these songs from the "Unreleased Heat Rocks" album: "Wanna Bz ft.
Thanks for the "my peoples" link! Was looking for that!
Im bumping these a lot atm;

I was reading through some of your choices and some of them match my list. Cool to see some of the the lesser known tracks here as well, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one feeling some of the songs. LOL Kinda went through some of the Snoop solo projects and came up with this list:

Didn't look too much into his features, but some of his features are much better than most of his solo stuff. His catalog is just too long to name his best performances...actually impossible to remember who he did songs with.
-
Nice list homie, although i disagree with some songs but thats your opinion 8)
Absolutely can't agree with his features being much better than most of his solo stuff, but again everyone has his opinion ^^ ;D 8)
Would still be interested in some examples for that point...

That one's great! Took that with me when I tested a couple of Hi-Fi headphones to buy some years ago. Has many elements to it and the verses are on point. Great opening track.

Is quite hard to pick Songs, especially when it comes to them being underrated. What's underrated really? I've seen songs mentioned here that have been praised when they came out, so underrated really doesn't fit. Like "Buck Em", "Hennesey N Buddah", "Protocol", etc. Those songs had people talking when they came out. Still listening to "Buck Em" nowadays and like when the beat kicks in, same for Hen N Bud. And with his guest features being better some times, I mean the overall concept or theme of songs. He did some good soulful or thoughtful stuff on other people songs, while he usually like to be a gangsta / party rapper or stoner on his own songs.
Here are some features I like of his. Think I'm missing the best ones, but those are the ones I have in my head from the recent years. Decided by his verses and/or delivery, not the overall song. Seems like he likes to step his game up either when he is guided by producers he respects or either when he is working with young cats trying to show them how it's done.
Future - Homicide
Chris Brown - Oh Yeah
Nas - Play On Playa
Gang Starr - In This Life
Av LMKR - Call You A Bitch
Jermaine Dupri - Protector's Of 1472
OG Daddy V - Smoke 1 Wit Me
The Game - Trading Places
Que - OG Bobby Johnson (Remix)
Slim The Mobster - What Goes Up
Young Jeezy - R.I.P’ (G Mix)
Shwayze - Livin' It Up
Dr. Dre - Kush
Kindred The Family Soul - You Got Love
Nipsey Hussle - Gangsta Life
Qunicy Jones - Get The Funk Out Of My Face
Young Jeezy - Higher Learning
