Title: Snoop album entirely produced by Pharrell, feat. Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson
Post by: woof on September 26, 2014, 05:40:32 PM
When Snoop Dogg isn’t busy hosting awards shows, he’s back in the studio working on yet another solo project. For his latest album, he teamed up with Pharrell and he’s promising something completely fresh.

“It’s a great record me and Pharrell did from top to bottom. It feels good and I’m happy to be back in the studio working with one of my favorite producers and homeboys,” Snoop told MTV News on the BET Hip Hop Awards carpet. “It’s different — it’s completely different than anything we’ve ever done. It feels good, sounds good, looks good.”

He confirmed that he won’t be taking on any new monikers this time around (remember Snoop Lion?) instead he’ll just be focused on the music.

Features on the new project will include Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson, and of course, “Snoop Dogg — he’ll be on my album. Just Snoop Dogg with two Gs, baby.”

After the success Pharell has had in this last year and the pretty good party, happy ( no pun intended) music he has put out its safe to say
Snoop Dogg will have a hit and be back on top of hip hop.

Pharrell probably giving Snoop all his leftovers (rather than developing every track in the lab) but its still gonna be better than everything he's done since Doggumentary 8)

Whiklst i like the idea of having one producer in some ways theres still that part of me that will be unhappy to not see production from the likes of say Soopafly, Battle cat, dre, quik, pooh, etc. But to be expected really.
I wonder what rappers will be featured on there?

yeah i think it has potential to be a decent and interesting album, but Snoop doesn't seem to focused so I'm afraid we'll get something half assed despite Pharrell's involvement. Pharrell sounded motivated to work with Snoop when he was on GGN though, so I don't know.

it didn't sound that way from that pharrell was saying before, he's always given snoop some of his best production. and you know stevie wonder aint gonna be on no leftover track. i expect the whole thing to be very musical and well crafted, though the autotune in that snippet was a bit offputting. autotune can really spoil things.

This is good news.  One of the main problems with many Snoop albums is the production has been all over the place, so it's nice to see this album will have a consistent sound with pharrell doing the whole album.

Lets hope so. And yeah, Snoop thinking he can sing on everything is fucking all his music up.

the first snippet didn't sound like that at all. the album is going to be very soul influenced like pharrell's record.

Sounds like it will be a '7 Days of Funk' part 2 but with a little less emphasis on funk.  I'll keep an ear out for it.

im not pharrells music. im talking what him and snoop has done is the passed and the lil sample snoop resealed a couple weeks ago. you add stevie wonder and charlie wilson in the mix and that means your getting that grown and sexy shit. most of the fans on here are not into that shit and i don't expect most people on here to vibe to this album. so to the people expecting some kind of hard album or some kind of west coast shit should just drop your expectations right now. you'll be getting sappy, watered down music. snoop has lost all his creativity and he's just bouncing everywhere to find a certain sound that can get him back to the top of the charts. he just needs to hang it up at this point because he's done! he really has nothing to offer the game at this point man. he'll just try to copy that sound from  pharrell's happy single and turn that whole shit into a crappy album. every time he's about to drop a album people get so excited on here only to be let down :-\ HE'S DONE!! at least niggas like jay z cube, nas and ren are still trying to put out rap albums. i don't even know what to label the music snoop is dropping now. even old ass niggas like king tee is still putting out rap music. it's like snoop's music now is pop, funk, reggae, some cheesy ass rap lyrics, all combine over a bruno mars beat. he makes music so he can do that lil old man shuffle you always see him doing  :D you know that shit where he just moves his feat and his elbows  ;D

One producer on an album can either result in every song sounding the same or a stellar compilation of bangers. Based on the features I think its going to be the latter.

of snoops later directions groovy, soulful beats from the neptunes is easily one of the best. past collabs have generally been on a classic level, providing you aren't looking for harder hip hop or gfunk. joints like 'lets get blown' and 'beautiful' are legit jams and 'drop it like its hot' is snoops biggest record to date. not that popular means great, but you'd have to be really adverse to pop/r&b to not appreciate those.

and will i think you are being harsh on pharrell his last album was legitimately good, you can't say 'happy' is not a classic jam from dude. even if you find him corny or whatever his production is on fire recently. lots of groove. and even if he's ripping off marvin gaye the robin thicke record was another one.

let's get blown is more funk than pop, pure groove with a classic Slave sample so it doesn't make sense for people to hate on songs like that when those are the influences Snoop claims too. Signs sounds poppy but is funky as well especially with Charlie Wilson in the mix.

Pharrell was the 2nd worst thing to happen to Snoop Dogg (Master P being the 1st). Not excited about this at all. Guarantee it will sound like a bunch of "Happy" remixes.

R&G gave Snoop crazy hype with Drop It Like It's Hot.

Hopefully, they'll come up with something fresh again for Snoop to show his musical skills.

Commercially Happy is a huge song with a massive reach. It's nice pleasant track/video combo. A standout cut by today's standards but far from classic material IMO

i'm not a huge Pharrell fan, but some of their collaborations are alright: i mostly like Vato. Drop it like it's hot sounds ok to me now, but it has also annoyed me in the past, especially the hook( i may have posted that on the forum before)
