Seems like ages ago they were talking about this album. And nothing since. Has this project been scrapped? I thought it was finished according to Pharrell and just needed to be mastered?

how many projects get scrapped? most of them dont even get talked about and are scrapped without us even knowin they were in the works....the political side of music is much greater than most realize. making the music is the fun/easy part.

Snoop only released some snippets some weeks ago and is still mentioning working with Pharell on his next LP in recent interviews or videos. So the album will come out this year, I believe. It's not like a mixtape you can record in a couple of days or weeks, an entire album is more than that. Also, Pharell is a busy artist and producer, they won't be in the studio together every week.
Don't really know what to expect from the direction they decided to go. I kinda expect a mostly sung soul, funk and pop influenced album with 2-3 "gangstafied" tracks for the old time's sake.

Can't understand why some people here are already hatin on snoop working with pharell... Sure, a whole album done by him is a bit of a risk, but these 2 guys proved that they can actually drop great music together and not just pop songs. While they are surely gonna be 1 or 2 pop inspired songs on it and surely also a possible new hit following the success of "Happy" (which would be cool for snoop nowdays to show that after so many years in the game he can still drop a hit), pharell also produced tracks like "Vato" or "10 Little Crips" where snoop sounded on fire and the beats where hard as fuck. So this surely wont be the completely pop influenced album some people here fear. And with pharell on his groovy soul tip nowdays they can also drop some great chilled out music which also suits snoops very well. So just wait for the album, i bet this will be worth the wait.

Snoop and Pharell made some of his biggest hits of his career so I can see why Snoop would want to revisit that though

Like I said if snoop offers some bangers like "Vato" again this will be great.
And he will surely drop some gangsta tracks along with the one or two pop tracks and a whole bunch of soulfull, funky tracks. Can't see whats wrong with that, this could really be some of his finest work in this period of his career.

Snoop Dogg reveals the title for his next album... "Bush".
Revealed during a panel hosted by Omnicom Media Group at CES 2015 in Las Vegas on Wednesday (Jan. 7), the rap legend said the project will be produced entirely by Pharrell and said the first single will be a song titled "Peaches N Cream."
In addition to Pharrell, the album will feature appearances from Stevie Wonder and Charlie Wilson.
"Bush" is due in March. It marks the follow-up to 2013's "7 Days of Funk", a collaboration between Dam-Funk and Snoop's alter ego Snoopzilla.

Thats Pharrell, dude does what he wants. A Snoop Dogg album may not be what Hip-Hop is craving right now but if Pharrell is happy with the outcome of their studio sessions then thats what he'll do, he's always been a trend setter / not a follower.

It doesn't even look that good. The marketing people probably thought Ed Sheeran sold a bunch of albums with just green 'X' on the cover. They're selling him like a pop star and the albums gonna tank. No ones gonna look at this and say "ohh snoop Dogg. Bush. How cryptic. Rhymes with Kush. But. Wait. Do Snoop eat the bush? He don't love no hoes!! I gotta buy this and hear for myself!! Take my money".
It should have Pharrell and Snoop and some models on the cover and both their names. Trust me he could sell this just based on Pharells popularity not his own

I thought the video was really dope!
The track was funky, but lacked something, (some actual rapping maybe), but a cool song that would grow on me more and more.

Pharrell's is on fire with his production for the last couple years (it started with the last NERD album) and seems to have stepped up the funk factor for this album. this is a much more exciting project on the production side of things. the fact it's a Snoop album is neither here or there, only that it got Pharrell to come up with this type of music...

I'm worried about the album sounding monotonous, though. Sure, it's great to have one producer do the whole album so that the entire thing sounds cohesive and brings continuity from track to track. But you can take it too far with that. For example, So Many Pros to me sounds too similar to Peaches N Cream. I don't want an album to be, like, one track with nine more remixes of it to create 10 tracks. Listen to Mobb Deep's Hell on Earth, for example of what I'm fearing. Each track sounds so reminiscent of all the others that it just drones on, and it's the reason why that album pales in comparison to Tha Infamous.
But I'll keep an open mind. Just worried about the tracks all sounding too similar to each other.

wouldn't be a problem here, on the contary, i love that sound 8) we've heard 3/10 tracks and the common theme is thick groovy bass w/ guitar licks. 'awake' had a much more chilled vibe than the other two though. no doubt i'm an exception to the rule, but i can and often do listen to disco-funk grooves all day long.
