Title: NIK's dumbest statement during these playoffs??
Post by: Hack Wilson - real on June 16, 2015, 08:33:24 PM
1 saying that Elgin Baylor (0 for 8 in the NBA finals) and Jerry West (1 for 8 ) are better than 11 time champ Bill Russell

2-Saying Lebron is still over rated despite winning 2 games over the west's Warriors without Irving, Love and Varrijao and setting all kinds of NBA finals scoring recods

both are awfully stupid statements that both deserve equal laughing at  - similar to how when Lebron passed Kobe's "non PG assist" stats how those #'s no longer mattere  ;D

WHAT DO IT MATTER? RUSSELL WAS THE 5TH LEADING SCORER ON A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM LMAO. U PUT ELGIN INSTEAD OF RUSSELL ON THOSE CELTIC TEAMS, AND THEY WIN 15 STRAIGHT.

Baylor didn't play one minute in that finals and you know it so you blow it off with "doesn't matter"  ;D

that's like saying Nomar deserves a ring for the 2004 red sox world series - no he doesn't.  he has one but didn't earn it.

if you put Russell on a team with West they'd have won a lot more than 0 titles  ;D

RUSSELLS HALL OF FAME CAST WAS BETTER THAN JUST WEST

Baylor did play on the 1972 team, he retired mid-season because of career ending injures, and did get a ring. Most players like him would get a ring. So saying Baylor doesn't have a ring is just wrong.

Also, only because of 1969, I'd say Russell is the best, but you have to look at teammates. The Celtics had hall of fame players coming off their bench. They had a roster 6-7 deep some years with hall of famers. West and Baylor were great, and in his prime Baylor might have been better than Russell as a player. But we'll never know because Baylor just didn't have the talent around him. It's all about teams. I give Russell credit because he battled Wilt every year, and beat him every year. Including when Wilt joined the Lakers and have Baylor and West with him. I think that's the justification for the praise Russell gets. He's the David that beat Goliath each and every year.

Defense wins championships my friend. And Russell was one of the best, if not the best, defensive centers in history. He always had hall of famers around him, but he's wars with Wilt justified him being in the conversation. If you rank players on offense only, then yes, Russell ain't even top 20 all time. But the complete player, defense, offense, rebounds, guarding better players, will to win, Basketball IQ. You don't get any better than Russell, and the rings speak for themselves.

look, i know he was a great defender...but to be in GOAT discussion, u have to do it at both ends. Russell never cracking the 20 ppg mark easily removes him from that discussion. like i said, he's somewhere between kareem and horry.

Also impact, importance, and being a starter for a winning team, and defending someone like Wilt, and coaching a team that you are playing for,.

Also, let's get some things very clear. Before Russell, the Celtics still had hall of fame players like Cousy, Sharman and others. Guess how many times they made the finals? None. After Russell retired, they still had hall of famers like John Havlicek, and returned 7 other players. In 1969-70, they didn't even finish with a winning record. Russell was very important to everything Boston did. He was the glue that held it all together.

I change my pick of dumbest statement.

It's how this nigga has spammed every thread with this "LeBron froze out his teammates & shot under 40%...what an idiot" statement. Completely ignoring who in fact his teammates were & how in a perfect world LeBron would be shooting 55% minimum if those teammates had a clue & he was playing his style of basketball lol.

But I get it, he needs an arguing point. If he played the game were used to, shot 58% from the field, had 15 assists a game, scored 29 a game & lost 4-0 because JR Smith & Shumpert shot 27% from the field (which is close to what they shot regardless lmao), he would call LeBron a pussy for not putting up 40 shots a game & understanding that those players can't score lmao.

oh, so he shot under 40% and under 30% from outside of 5 feet on single coverage because of his teammates.......i get it.

stop repeating what u hear on espn and think for yourself for once. if lebron played with draymond green, he would be relegated to scrub status...lebron is the type who would turn klay thompson into a spot up shooter ala james jones. can u imagine andre iguodala playin wit lebron? lmao...he'd look even worse than jr smith. u know ur king renders most his players useless bruh, why are u arguin the obvious truth? shit, timofey mozgov and tristan thompson are good low post players...if lebron was kobe, he woulda got those guys some nice contracts this coming off-season. your boy simply makes every1 around him look worse than they are with the way he plays, and arguin that is flat out dumb.

LMFAO. Son compared Klay to James Jones. Klay Thompson is all he needed to work with & he would of won this series in five games.

& yeah Iggy looks great on that team. He's got two all-stars, one being the MVP, an all-star snub, David Lee who you PRAISED all season long in fantasy. Iggy might not look as special on that Cavs Final roster, but throw him in there as the 4th-5th guy to turn to behind Kyrie & Love & he'd look great.

like I said, lebron would relegate klay to a spot up shooter, rendering him useless. iguodala would be shumpert status, at best. he doesn't get the best out of his teammates... never has. his style don't allow for others to shine.

LMAO. Did you watch those Miami Heat teams? Son had Birdman, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Cole, Chalmers all looking like studs.

You just say shit because it fits for the moment. Yeah, he couldn't make Matthew Dellevedova look like Steve Nash. Yeah, JR Smith is never going to be the second best player on a team in the NBA Finals. But you always play that double sided argument where if Kyrie & Love were healthy & played & LeBron averaged 14 assists per game for the series & Love & Kyrie were putting up 20 PPG each, which opens up the floor four times as much for a guy like James Jones or Mike Miller, you'd be on here saying that's a strike against LeBron. How he needed two "franchise players" (despite you saying Kevin Love looked like a role player in another thread) to win a title. & if he LeBron is a little more ball dominate & Kevin Love is only scoring 15.6 PPG, you rip him for not making Love a primary scorer in the offense.

We all see how you swing the conversation one side or the other as long is it is against LeBron. The question is, how many times can you just repeat yourself, get rebuttled & just wait two days to say the exact same thing over again? lmao.

The question is, how many times can you just repeat yourself, get rebuttled & just wait two days to say the exact same thing over again? lmao.

IT ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO A BUNCH OF "IFS" WHEN DEFENDING LEBRON....FACT IS, HE DIDNT HAVE LOVE OR IRVING. HE HAD A TEAM WITHOUT SUPERSTARS...A TEAM FULL OF SOLID AND CAPABLE ROLE PLAYERS...AND LEBRON MADE THEM ALL LOOK LIKE SCRUBS. JR SMITH, LIKE LAMAR ODOM, IS A 6TH MAN OF THE YEAR. TRISTAN THOMPSON IS A DOUBLE-DOUBLE GUY. IMAN SHUMPERT IS A LOCKDOWN PERIMETER DEFENDER. TIMOFEY MOZGOV IS A NICE LOW-POST PLAYER. SOLID ROLE PLAYERS MADE TO LOOK LIKE STR8 DOODOO.

SHANE BATTIER, MIKE MILLER, NORRIS COLE, MARIO CHALMERS ALL HAD BETTER SEASONS WITOUT LEBRON BTW LOLSMH.

LMFAO. BRUH JUST SAID THIS CLEVELAND TEAM WAS CAPABLE PLAYERS. GOOD LORD.

TIMOFEY MOZGOV AND TRISTAN THOMPSON ARE NOT GOOD LOW POST PLAYERS? JR SMITH AND JAMES JONES ARE NOT DEADLY THREE POINT SPECIALISTS (ONE WHO IS A FORMER 6TH MAN OF THE YEAR)? IMAN SHUMPERT AND MATTHEW DELEVEDOVA AREN'T LOCK-DOWN PERIMETER DEFENDERS? LEBRON LITERALLY HAND PICKED ALL THESE GUYS....IT'S A KNOWN FACT THAT LEBRON APOLOGISTS DOWNPLAY HIS TEAMMATES TO MAKE HIM LOOK BETTER. 1. Before I even go, it's not close to a championship roster & would of been undeniable the worst in history.

2. JR Smith is not relatively close to a "deadly" three point specialist.

3. James Jones played under 20 minutes a game.

4. You again switched your story up. Early in the series you said Curry shooting like shit was an "apparition", then you realized it was more of a knock to LeBron to credit his teammate, so now you're giving Delle big props, when in reality, he may never play more than 5 minutes in a playoff game again, let alone a minute in a Final.

5. LeBron hand-picked some of these guys figuring they'd fit in around two other players.

6. You realize, probably the most important of all is, probably should of said this almost a month ago, probably should bold this....you realize what you're knocking LeBron for is like Jordan losing Scottie & Rodman & expecting him to win or Kobe losing Shaq & Derek Fisher & expecting him to win or the Pistons losing two of those starting five or Parker losing Duncan & Kawhi & the list goes on... You're trying your hardest to make it sound like this was the team all year, LeBron had these guys flowing like a well oiled machine & just went AWOL when the Finals came around. He had everything in line to compete this year & lost his two best players during the playoff run. Then went on to play a team five regular season wins shy of the 72-10 Bulls, historically good & you just want to believe "wow, he failed again" lmao. That's just such sheer stupidity from a basketball analytical perspective, it's mindboggling.

7. The year after Shaq left was pretty much the equivalent for Kobe & the Lakers weren't even considered a contender.

ACTUALLY, I NEVER EXPECTED LEBRON TO WIN....BUT I DIDNT EXPECT HIM TO SHOOT SO DAMN TERRIBLY WHEN HIS TEAM NEEDED HIM MOST. I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT HE'D TRY MUCH HARDER TO GET THE TEAM GOING, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HE'S A PASS-FIRST GUY....BUT HE STRAIGHT UP WENT OUT THERE AND DRIBBLED THE CLOCK OUT OF EVERY POSSESSION TO TAKE A TERRIBLE SHOT OR MAKE A LAST RESORT PASS. IT'S JUST NOT GOOD BASKETBALL, REGARDLESS OF WHO UR TEAMMATES ARE.. IT WAS PROBABLY THE WORST CASE OF HERO BALL I'VE EVER WITNESS....AND COMING FROM A GUY BILLED AS A TEAM PLAYER, IT'S MOST DEFINITELY SURPRISING.

In this eastern conference, the 2006 Lakers would have at least made the conference finals.

If you really believe that, then I really don't know what to say...seriously, now, you DO realize defense is what lost us this, right? Kobe wasn't gunna win this 1-on-5.

But that exact philosophy is exactly why the ring argument is autistic as fuck lmfao.

You say that because you know the USA has a superior team every four years. Yet, if Westbrook leaves Durant & Durant spends the rest of his career alone, running into your fantasy, stacked Laker squads or LeBron & Love or the Warriors, etc, you're going to knock him for never having the talent around him to compete with the "USA team in Olympic play".

You don't judge Pau for not winning a gold medal because the USA teams are always better than the Euro teams. He almost has no chance to win because his teammates in Spain aren't as good.

But it's the same philosophy in the NBA. If Westbrook is all alone in OKC for 10 more years after Durant leaves & his career ends, how you going to judge him for 0 NBA Finals rings for being forced to play with Dion Waiters & Mitch McGary for 10 years? If Kobe never stomped his foot & whined to management to steal him Pau Gasol & didn't win you'd be on here crying he had no help.

It's pretty simple as long as you're not fucking retarded.

comparing nba level competition to euroleague competition is flat out retarded....jr smith would automatically be the best player for 99% of euro teams if he ever joined one. you try so hard.

again...lebron had a capable team. it wasnt euro level talent vs usa level talent. it was 2 NBA LEVEL teams goin at it. one had better inside presence and the other had better perimeter players. do u understand that draymond green and andre iguodala would be considered scrubs if they played with lebron? like jr smith and iman shumpert....u put those guys next to steph curry, and they shine. the narrative of lebron not having enough is a media fabrication. and because u lebron groupies are used to seein him play with superstar teams, then all of a sudden havin a regular team becomes "unfair". stephen curry is the only real franchise player in golden state...klay thompson is good, but he's a borderline all-star, not a franchise player. kyrie irving and kevin love are both franchise players (one who was relegated to looking like a role player next to lebron)....the thing is, if lebron had kyrie and love, then it doesnt balance shit out, it makes lebron have the UNFAIR advantage of having a superteam (once again).....and guess what, lebron lost game 1 when kyrie was playing (were the teams not even then)?  how did he lose it? thats right...on a classic chokejob, only the way lebron knows how. then they won games 2 and 3, despite lebron shooting poorly (they won mainly due to defense on steph)........u groupies need to stop comin up wit excuses for lebron every time he loses. u go to extreme lengths like comparing usa level talent to euro level talent. it's just fuckin dumb and makes u look desperate. to the casual fan, they may think u have a point. to some1 who follows espn as their gospel, they may even agree with u....but to people who actually understand the game, they laughin at how much u got this 2/6 finals record holdin, travellin on every possession, over-glorified for marketing purposes, hidin behind superteams, beta males dick down ya throat....stop that. root for the sixers bruh. hype up embiid all u want, i dont give a shit. but this individual male praise for a guy that doesnt even help ur team is flat out embarrassing.

I'm sorry dude, I know you spent a little typing that out...but I had to stop reading after "LeBron not having enough was media fabrication" lol. There's just no point if you're that out of line. That's absurd.

Speaking of narratives, I get your whole "pretty much everyone who isn't a 'franchise player' would be 'awwwww man Draymond Green?!?'", but no lol, Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Shane Battier, Birdman, the list goes on of Miami Heat players who wouldn't have been shit for the last 4 years, turned into champions by LeBron. & those Miami players were better. Dellevedova will never start on an NBA team again unless all other options are on the DL, JR Smith sucks, James Jones can only shoot a three, Mike Miller today is too old, Thompson has zero offensive game, Mozgov is the only player worthy of a Finals roster & that's if he is the 4th or 5th option on the team. Iman can play defense, can't really do anything on offense unless he's created looks from pretty much being ignored. Kyrie & Love, like designed in the offensive scheme, yeah, they win. But like I said in another thread you...like usual...ignored because of how insane you'd have to be to argue it...no other team in NBA history could you have removed the 2nd & 3rd best players & that team would of still won the NBA Finals.

If you honestly & truly believe if one week before the Finals the Warriors & Cavs broke all trading deadline rules & traded LeBron for Steph & you think the Cavs would of still won...actually if you think the Warriors WOULDN'T have swept Curry on the Cavs, you're so lost, it's inexplicable.

he had enough to win, son...thats why they won games 2 and 3. he had:

1.A GREAT TEAM DEFENSE (LOCK-DOWN PERIMETER DEFENDERS, RIM PROTECTORS)
2.KNOCK DOWN SHOOTERS TO SPACE THE FLOOR
3.EXCELLENT REBOUNDERS
4.LOW POST SCORING

IT'S NOT KWAME BROWN-SMUSH PARKER-LUKE WALTON LAKERS LIKE U KEEP ACTING.....U PUT MJ, KOBE, BIRD, MAGIC WIT THOSE GUYS, AND IT'S A SWEEP VS THE FUCKING WARRIORS....I MEAN, WARRIORS ARE GOOD, DONT GET ME WRONG. BUT THEYRE STILL THE FUCKIN WARRIORS. IT'S NOT SOME HALL-OF-FAME LINE-UP THAT CANT BE BEAT. THE FUCKIN GRIZZLIES WERE UP 2-1 ON THEM BEFORE CONLEY WENT DOWN. "No other team in NBA history could you have removed the 2nd & 3rd best players & the team would of still won the NBA Finals."

C BYNUM

SPURS WOULDA STILL SWEPT LEBRON'S CAVS IN '07 WITH:

My dude, why aren't you saying that this team:

Fisher
Kobe
Ariza
Powell
Bynum

Would have beat the Celtics though?

Instead, what you're doing is saying that these teams:

Alston
Lee
Hedo
Lewis
Dwight

and

Gibson
Pavlovic
LeBron
Gooden
Big Z

Are equal to:

Curry
Thompson
Barnes/Iggy
Green
Bogut

And that's just flat out not true. If you're going to make these comparison, make them right. LeBron played a top notch team, so make your comparisons with other top notch teams. If Dwight didn't defend on that Magic team, who would have? Who would have stepped up and bailed them out? Nobody. If LeBron didn't do damn near everything on that Cavs team, who would have stepped up and bailed them out? Again, nobody. These are not elite teams. Now, take that Warriors team. When Curry wasn't scoring, Thompson was. Iggy was. When the team needed stops, Green stepped up. Iggy stepped up. Livingston stepped up. That's what elite teams do. So you're comparing weak teams to better your agenda of Pro-Kobe, Anti-LeBron and are completely ignoring the fact that LeBron played against a stacked team with the MVP.

Also, if PPG was the only factor in determining the greatest of a player, then AI should be considered one of the greatest ever. Bill Russell changed games with his defense. His defense was his offense. This dude out played Wilt Chamberlain regularly. Wilt was destroying teams (which of course, West needed his services to win that ring), but struggled to lead his team over Russell. Take Russell off that team and the Celtics are a footnote in history. They're probably the Knicks today. Take Sam Jones off the team, take Cousy off the team... maybe they lose a few Finals, but they still have plenty of hardware, thanks to Russell.

I know you're rivaling Vanessa when it comes to Kobe Fandom and you hate LeBron and the Celtics, but damn man, at least try to be objective.

ARE U BEIN SERIOUS? READ THAT MAGIC ROSTER U POSTED AGAIN...U ACTIN LIKE ITS NIGHT N DAY WHEN COMPARING IT TO THE WARRIOR ROSTER TO SAVE FACE. DO U REALLY BELIEVE THAT LEBRON IS ON KOBES LEVEL OR DO U JUST ACT LIKE THAT BECAUSE U LOVE HIM SO MUCH. BE HONEST.

BILL RUSSELL WAS A BEAST BUT HE UNDENIABLY PLAYED ON ALLSTAR TEAMS. WILT OUTPLAYED HIM REGULARLY, IT WAS RUSSELLS SUPPORTING CAST WHO WOULD OUTPLAY WILTS. AT THE END OF THE DAY, RUSSELL WAS GREAT, BUT NOT TOP 5 GREAT. ID PUT HIM IN THE TIM DUNCAN ECHELON, WHICH IS SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN LEBRON-ISIAH-DR J AND KOBE-MAGIC-MJ

I have only seen highlights of those 1st - Jerry West seems like the by far best of those 3 - Baylor and Russel is legends, but West was special for the sport at the time, from what i seen.
Nr 2 Lebron overrated? depends on his rating - nr 1 of all time? thats Jordan to me. - Compared to Kobe? (I will skip as Kobe is my all time favorite player)

Why do you feel any of those statements are dumb? Other people's opinion matters if they do not throw "facts" that is not facts.

Lakers & Fc Copenhagen, all day - everyday.
