I'm interested in hearing how this album turns out.  Bishop's spent so long on this project that it has to be worth the wait.

I hate it when a song has an intro skit for about 30 sec long and Bishop does that too much recently with his dope songs. Shoot Out and UnAmerican are both dope songs but fuck the corny in tro ruins it.

I'm actually really excited about this. It looks like he has some of the same producers from his Aftermath days. I loved Bishop's The Confessional the best....City Lights...Cant Figure This Out...Etc....Some really good music. Those could have been radio songs. It's sad that it's been about 10 years and he still doesn't have an album out.

One thing I hope he does, is keep his flow like it was in his prime. Some of his songs he changed up his style and was really stale to me. I love him on Warren G's album, and The Confessional. The other mix tapes were good, but I cut alot out that seemed to be fillers or just didn't catch on.

I'll be buying this album to support him. It sounds like it will be a great album (better be after 10 years). It's not gonna rob us like Crooked I's debut with cracker jack beats. That was a HUGE let down. It's a drink holder like someone said. Lol

I'm waiting for the pre-order to get the deluxe and support him. Go Bishop...............Great marketing too....

There's few songs on the album from past Bishop eras, but not those with Dre. Dre doesn't have his fingerprints on this one. So no Dre production or anything.

Album of the year worthy, still early but it's up there. Few blah tracks but near flawless for the most part.

Still giving the album a proper listen, but thought I'd add a quick 2 cents here...

The Intro track is insane IMO, instantly one of my favorite Bishop tracks, but I can't help but think it's a detox reference track originally written by bishop & produced by khalil for for Dre's Detox. Just listening to it, Dre's vocals would fit perfectly.

It's just the tracks vibe and content, sounds like something produced (or at least written) around the time of the Rakim Era on Aftermath, has that Rakim (ft truth hurts) - After You Die sound Dre was pushing Rakim to go with.

Also, The Game - Dead People (prod. Dr Dre), same kind of fitting sound / lyrical content, same kinda ish Dre likes.

Anyone else think this?

After some listens in the car and in my headphones, some initial thoughts:

+ Beats are banging, Khalil brought the heat as usual, Chris Noxx' beats sounds very Khalilesque, Bink/Batson/Warren G/Focus & Paul Cabbin brought the heat on the boards as well.
+ Bishop is on his A-game. He took his sweet time with this one, but he's versatile, masters different flows, and lyrics are mostly on point. He's more original than most artists.
+ Bishop got something a lot of these self-righteous rappers lack; humour and self-irony. Usually you don't smile/smirk/laugh when listening to rap, but Bishop made me   a bunch of times.
+ The guest list. Am I gonna complain about features from Ras Kass, Xzibit, RBX, Kobe, Warren G, Kokane or Apathy? Surely not. Some nice surprises as well, some artists I didn't hear about also brought some heat.
+ The album is somewhat coherent, but still brings some variation in theme/mood.

- The album starts out very strong, but from track 12, the quality is a bit below par, before getting stronger forwards the last tracks. Maybe it needs time to grow on me.
- The guest list contains some subpar features, which is kinda unavoidable with 31 features on a 18 track album (not counting the outro).
- 31 features might be a bit too heavy, took some lessons from The Game on this one..
- Being coherent is usually a plus, but some of the tracks might sound too similar..

18. Un-American (feat. Ryu & Apathy) (Prod. by Paul Cabbin)

I pretty much find all of these joints to be decent to solid after hearing the album twice more, but even a few of these sound a little too similar and some of the hooks were a little bit too Eminem - Recovery / Slaughterhouse sounding-ish for me

overall I'm glad dude finally was able to drop his album (he proved me wrong this year) but with all the hype build up over the years it just didn't live up to expectations and so many leftovers would have been better in place of other tracks, I don't see this one having the same replay value that Nigger Noize and Confessional had at least IMO

if I caught this in a store for the low I'd probably snag it anyway

nice that the album eventually came out! and that it's good. the sound is where you imagined it going originally and whilst there's no dre it doesn't sound cheap, on the contrary. there's khalil and a good band of producers, nice one bishop 8)

it took a minute, but i finally got my copy off bishop and bumped it all the way through

on first listen, it’s a solid album .. the stand out track to me was razor blade. most of the album had that early-mid 2000s G-Unit sound to me, which i was never a huge fan of tbh.

but overall, it’s got its share of bangers and some dope lyricism with meaning as well

i do see why dre never released him tho... as good a rapper as he is, this typa shit is simply not catchy enough to do mainstream numbers.
