Yes I agree with this, his last dope album was Godzilla, Million Dollar Mouthpiece was a letdown, too much anticipation back then... I remember being so disapointed, I'll have to give this album a new listen one day btw
Now back to this new "JJ Based On A Vill Story" and damn you were right, I just give it a first listen and it's actually really good, The Mekanix and DJ Fresh on board so you can't go wrong with that! Even using classic samples didnt affect the album, I like how they flipped these samples better than on Game's 1992 album!

after giving it one full listen I would say this is Yuk's best body of work since Godzilla and both UGA projects, like others said the sample flips were dope on some of those joints
most definitely copping if I catch it in the stores 8)

After a couple of spins I'll give it 3,5/5 - not Yuk's best album but def a solid one. He's been always on point lirycally, but I don't feel some of the beats - he should do a whole album with The Mekanix next time, I liked how they flipped out classic samples on some the beats here. "Fuck Friendz 2" dissapointed me tho, I thought he'll go after someone's head cause Part 1 was one of my fav disses realesed in 2000's... shame.

Hell yeah. I love "They Never Saw Me Coming". One of the few R&B albums i actually own.

TQ on "Westside" > Sisqo on "So Damn Hood" music-wise and success-wise. They're both very talented singers though so I'm not gonna say one is better than the other.

Yukmouth has been posting about JJ Based On A Vill Story on twitter for years. I expect alot of the album was recorded before The Games album came out.

finally got around to this one .. i actually heard part 2 first because it was much easier to find for some reason...gota say this shits raw and got a completely diff sound to it than part 2..i thought part 2 was more commercially viable and had more of a universal sound. this one is straight spits. they both on the same level in diff ways to me
