Came out during the East West beef and I wasn’t fuckin with East Coast jointz a lot other than a few exceptions like Lost Boyz and Fugees
I can’t believe I used to think this joint was wack... I thought it was one of those contrived lead singles just meant to be catchy and target radio play...
But this joint is maad official and authentic sound and representz the culture to the fullest, this joint is Bananas I was trippin to sleep on a joint this def...
I wouldn’t even be surprised if this is the joint that gave Dre some of his ideas for Eminem’s “My Name Is” or the Knocturnal single with Missy Elliot

One of the weirdest, most odd beats that just seems to fit Busta Rhyme's style perfectly. Definitely up there with one of the greatest songs of hip-hop of all time that has aged extremely well.

True indeed... back when it was important to be original he certainly came through the gates with a heavy hitter going solo

man, you slept on a lot of things...

So you had time and money to give every new release from the golden age of 88-2003 a serious listen? Impossible.
And as for Busta I already explained... I was 13 and I doubt I was the only one who mistook lines like “Yah Yah Yah”.. and “Woo-hah” as some corny attempt at a catch-phrase hit record the way Master P would try to holler “Hootie Hoo” and shit like that to make a hit... but I was wrong of course and what Bus was doing was the truth

nah, not everything, but this one was a massive hit. hard to not hear, or miss it IMO...

Busta in my Top 25 of all time. Been listenin' to his music since I was a lil' kid. I hope he puts out that new album soon.
-
Im from the East Coast and the beef never affected my listening habits but I did know alot of people in NY who did not listen to West Coast music because of it...its a shame though because they missed out on alot of great music

That whole album is great.

Yeah obviously... that’s why I gave two separate explanations in my response above, one to respond to “you slept on a lot of things” and another explanation for why I slept on Bus’ monster hit

The perfect remix

These two had potential for a great ep together.

Not throwin shade BUT...for someone trapped in 1996 supposedly you missed out on alot 'out there' albums....it is what it is though...but yeah this song was memorable back then for an annoying hook, still a classic.

I consider "The Coming" and "Genesis" classics.
