This a West Coast forum and never any word about one of the biggest artists in West Coast rap history?
No love for Coolio?
-
I love it.
Got most of his albums on cd.
-
was just discussin coolio wit doggy the other day
one of the most underappreciated gangsta rappers of all time
-
Okay good to see some love... he was also down with WC and the Maad Circle, he was down with the Liks as well...down with Rass Kass isn’t LV from the Dove Shack or just homies with them?
Any favorite tracks
“I Remember” with LV is classic and got one of the homies from the Liks on there
“See You When You Get There” great song and 40 Thievz are nice on that track wonder if they ever did anything else? (Nothing to Lose was a good soundtrack had a Soopafly and Daz banger on there too “Monkey in It” that they even used to play the video for I actually thought Soopafly might be the next big artist on Death Row at that time)
“Fantastic Voyage” this was actually the first single I ever remember buying in stores
“Gangstas Paradise” I think this track was just so big and mainstream headz don’t show it love but if it was like some underground joint on a Dove Shack album that didn’t even go gold or something like that headz would go bananaz for this joint
“Stick um” ha ha ha stick um !! Banger fear. ras kass
“Mama I’m In Love With A Gangsta” - Coolio rips it on this track great back and forth between him and his girl while he’s stretched out in the pen, powerful track
Some joints were annoying and he probably played himself out with “1, 2 3 4” and some of that shit but it’s not his fault those tracks blew up
-
dont forget his classic theme song for kenan and kel! 8)
-
he wasn’t down wit wc and the maad circle, he was part of the group
he went solo after their first album
-
Coolio n the 40 thevz was my shit
-
Coolio is dope af. I’ve been revisiting his albums recently funny you make this thread. What made me want to check his shit out was the verse he spit on the Curb Servin album.

Which track is that I’ll check it out.... “Front Back Side To Side” was a big banger off maad circle album but Coolio had already gone solo by that rhyme. We used to bump that track on the album 8th grade bus home back when Sccit was in the 1st grade

It’s called “In a Twist”. It comes right after “put on the set” which is one of the most creative and underrated tracks I’ve ever heard and probably my favorite WC track

Dope thread, Coolio has classics! "It takes a thief" is a front to back classic imo and his next 2 albums were dope too. Wish him and WC woulda done more, it was always dope hearing them together.

LV is from the group South Central Cartel.... He was Nate Dogg's idol. There's an interview where Nate Dogg mentions LV and said it.

Interesting.. South Central Cartel had a banger on the Show soundtrack which is my all-time favorite soundtrack and LV did his thing on that joint but I keep forgettting to check out the rest of their material.
LV was before Nate? Seems Nate was already doing his signature sound before LV

Yeah good question because N Gatz We Trust came out in 94 while The Chronic came out in 92. Was LV on anything else that Nate could have heard. I was listening to the first SCC album and I don’t think I heard LV on that one
