Virgin has come up with an interesting way to combat Internet pirating. First, advances of Spymob's debut were sent out encoded and they have gone a step further with Gang Starr's highly-anticipated return, The Ownerz, by making writers sign a contract to receive the LP and then encoding that person's name on the disc... Will this new method deter Net bootlegging? Who knows, but it may figure into why Gang Starr's LP has yet to be ripped by Net savvy heads.
Hmm... interesting.

Woohoo gonna be good...
...looking forward to peeping this :)

I was a bit dissapointed by my first listen of Militia 3, but i'm sure it will grow on me. Can't wait for this.
-
encoding the name on the disc? uh, right!
aslong as it'll play in a computer, you should be able to rip it fine. the only thing stopping people ripping would be the contract, or if the encoding has some sort of digital watermark on it
-
So the name thing is so they know if it gets ripped early which company did it?
I hope this means we'll still be able to burn songs as i make shit loads of compilation CD's and when they stop you from copying on that they infringe on my rights to do that.

Old news, that Tracklist was out weeks ago.

i'm guessing what their saying if its ripped they'll be able to find out who did it from the rip

Old news, that Tracklist was out weeks ago.
Not the featurings though..
They might have tagged the tracks with audio.. "This is Martin King's advance version" or something like that.. it's possible with todays technology.
It's supposedly ripped now.. will be on mIRC within a day or so.
I will be copping this either way..

I was thinking that it must be something like that cause otherwise they could just play it in a cd player and record the music being played onto a computer and ripped it that way.
