those bloody french who benifitted the most from the CAP refuse to accept reform and will continue to subsidised thier farms while the rest of europe phases it out

They haven't scrapped it at all, nobody is pushing for that.  They've reformed it a little, but France won't budge much.

Farm subsidies are one of the biggest evils in the world.  

I'm not picking on the US, Europe is a lot worse, but did you know that the US gave $38 Billion in aid to Africa last year, but the subsidies it gives to its own farmers cost Africa $42 Billion?

I respected Mitterand, but the CAP was an obvious example of Franco-Germanic self interest.
