Title: LLOYD BANKS is the next superstar after 50 !!!!!
Post by: Jome on September 29, 2003, 09:59:47 PM
Gotta be among the best debuts on the "mainstream" hiphop scene without releasing a album..

First he made 50 and Eminem look like bystanders on "Don't push me", and then he had the best verse on "We all die one day", plus he killed the chorus..
Both on firstclass Eminem-beats.. hopefully Em will do beats for Banks solo.

"Don't push me":

[Lloyd Banks]
I done lost my bigger nigga, and I didn't cry
Too young to understand, the consequences of 'em then
Livin' a lie (lie), I gotta get that money I'll be damned if I'm bummy
Gotta watch my back around these niggas, cause they funny
20 years, of watching my mama's tears got me heated, heavily weeded
Smoking that bong, cause I need it
These niggas don't want me ballin', they want me buried
Balled in the dirt, from shots flurried
Layin' with bugs under my shirt
I got plans to hop up in that Hummer
'Cause I'm a stunner, I sit back and wonder
When them angels gon call my number under
My chest is a heart of a lion I ain't lying
Bounty hunters got me flyin' with my iron, high as a giant
I'm runnin' from nothin', my stomach is touchin', what I'm clutchin'
To give you more than a concussion, end of discussion
My blood is colder, so I'm bolder
Hennessey and soda, hood on my shoulder
Look in the mirror, I see a soldier

"We all die one day":

[Chorus: Lloyd Banks]
Niggaz know what I'm about out here
I don't toot my own horn cause I don't have to
You could run your mouth I don't care
But if you get too close I'm gon' clap you
It's too real out here to be scared
A real nigga gonna do whatever he has to
A man is the last thing you should fear
It ain't considered a crime unless they catch you
We all die one day

[Lloyd Banks]
But as long as I'm here I'm gonna grab checks
And make my cash stretch longer than giraffe necks
Poverty make yo ass bet
My words touch niggaz in jail make them wanna finish they last sent'
They say you live by the gun, you die by the next nigga gun
If thats the case then get a bigga one
You don't think I pack the pump cause I'm out the hood
That's a stereotype like everybody that's black and +jump+
I'm in the white mink the fabric is done
Got rings like Mike, Bird, Magic, and them
Out in Dallas in the palace where the Mavericks is from
Living lavish I'm established, so the cabbage'll come
I'm in the cloud you don't see me on the trains
I travel first class you aint even got a TV on your plane
You should be easy on my name cause I aint going back and forth
Your boss and your captain soft

This kid is gonna get BIG, and with 50 on his team.. unstoppable.

He kills everyone he raps with on various freestyles. "Mo' Money In The Bank" is tight as fucc IMO. If he gets the right production behind him, as well as the right promotion, he has a chance to do bigger things than 50 himself.

im not a big fan of 50 or g-unit...but fuck...lloyd banks is one skilled muthafucka...i gotta agree with jome...he kills everyone he raps with. i would say hes one of the most talents mothafuckas in the game right now. although i still think his best verse he's ever dropped was a few years ago on the "Victory" freestyle w/ 50 cent...that shit was fuckin ill

He won't blow up.
His style doesn't appeal to people at all and he'll always stay in 50's shadow.  :-\

He needs to learn to speak up on the mic. Put some life into his voice. Other than that, he's no different than Joe Budden and Fabolous, lyrically. They all got the same style punchlines and metaphors.

Yup I agree...

But his style & concepts is harder than Fab & Joe...dats what seperates him...But lyrically on da same level...yup

Joe Budden and Fabolous? HAHA. Banks eats those wacc dudes alive lyrically. Although I see wha'chu mean with his voice, but I'm feelin' that low, grimey sound of his. I think he can blow up f'sho.

I think he would be better in a group atmosphere than as a solo artist.  I'm not sure how well he could handle a whole album by himself.

Budden got some dope concepts, but he's still wack. Fab doesn't really come with concepts, but he at least has enough charisma in his flow. I can't speak on Banks' concepts, because I've never heard any. All the tracks I've heard him on have been the same shoot em up bang bang style that Fab did before him.

Check his solo tracks, and mixtapes..
If Obie can do a solo on his own, Banks is 10 times better suited to do it.

Word.
Exactly what they said about 50.
Look at how that went.

And LoL @ the Fab/Budden comparisons..
The only similarity is that they're all from N.Y. and all hot on mixtapes.
Btw, Fabolous went platinum twice didn't he, with less skill and charisma than Banks.

One thing I can't say I've heard is a true Lloyd Banks solo song.  That's what I'm waiting to hear, not just some freestyle over an instrumental or a remake.

And I think that the difference between Obie Trice and Banks is that Obie's got a nicer voice & delivery, and that's why I'd figure he'd be better at a solo album.

agreed...i would love to hear a true banks solo...as far as saying he wont blow up cuz his style doesnt appeal to everybody...are you crazy?...i've heard like 1 person say they werent feeling his style...and he cant live in 50's shadow if nobody knows hes in it in the first place...besides the true rap fans...if ppl just hear him on the radio nobody is gonna go "oh that dudes in with 50"...they havent promoted him at all...i think his success will depend on how they promote him...yes i think it will have a huge effect on his career if they promote him to be with 50 on everything...but if they say fuck 50 and just put out some solo shit...dont really mention 50 when they talk to him in interviews and shit...he'll do the same shit 50 did on a much deeper and better level.

Im guessing after the G Unit album drops, the solo album from them will be another 50 album....

Hopefully Banks will drop a solo, but Im guessing it wont be for another year or 2.....But you never know, these guys seem to make a new track every day, there's so much G Unit material floating around, It wouldnt take long for them to do an album I bet.

PS...I like the title of this thread Jome, The Lloyd Banks "High Profile Verses".......LOL, thats dope man...

Thats the new shit, it aint dope no more, Its "High Profile"

You gotta Love it!

Banks is dope as a lyricist, however he lacks any identity. The verses are great, but there's now ay I'd want to listen to a whole album of them. I thought both of his mixtapes were boring.

Checc out "What Goes Around" with 50. It's more of a Murder INC diss tracc, but it's still hot to def. And of course you gotta listen to "Money In The Bank" and "Mo' Money In The Bank". It's not all freestyles and remixes.

I love how you block it out. How are they not the same? Lazy flows. Fab & Banks are both very monotone. All 3 of them have raps filled with punchlines. Fab & Banks always have some sort of metaphor or punchline that refers to their being gangsta or their ability to shoot. There is no difference. And, if Banks got more skill and charisma than Fab, then you're listening wrong. Skill is debateable, since they're virtually a mirror of each other. But, charisma, maaaaaaaan. Banks puts me to sleep with his lack of life. At least Fab brings something more than just lyrics on tracks. Poor Jome. You hate Fabolous so much that you don't realize your two favorite rappers have some Fabolous style in them.

in style i would say they are similar...in lyrics banks is better but thats because i feel his lyrics are just a bit more clever and (forgive me for saying this) a bit more complex (i dont mean complex like smart i mean complex like more to one line that just a punch line if that makes sense). and i agree...banks is very monotone and i could see how it would bore some people...but thats one of the reasons i like him...same reason i liked shyne...his voice...they both have similar voices and i think they sound great.

i see what you are saying with those 2 songs...but its rare to find a song by fab where he doesnt rap about throwbacks and whatnot...whereas i dont think i've ever heard banks rapping about that type of shit (or atleast not excessively like fab does)...fab is just a bit more materialistic in my opinion.

Yea, he's more materialistic. But, that aside, all they talk about is their gangsta-ness. And, lyrically, both of these verses are the same. There is not much difference. You could change the "Fab's livin' la vida loca" to "Banks' livin' la vida loca" and most wouldn't know the difference.

why yall even comparing Banks to Fabolous, while ur at it, u mite as well compare Banks to Mase n Loon....LOL.....Banks raps bout totally different stuff then fabo...lately fabos been all bout the ladies, and Banks all bout the gunz.....sure..they sound alike, but Banks style is more street n hard..while fabo is smooth n laidback......I dont see Banks blowin up big time, just cuz his image is pretty much not unique...but i could be wrong.....but then again he is on 50's team....but being on a team with sumone HOT doesnt alwasy mean success......its all bout the "1st single"... if ur up n comer rapper, and drop a CRAZY CLUB single, u have a good chance at blowin up, and having sumone like dre,50 or em on a hook wouldnt hurt.....look at knocturnal...he had a chance, wit Dre n Missy on a track......its all bout 1st impressions..

Everyone is blowing him totally out of proportion.  He has got sum nice lyrics no doubt but his voice and flow ain't all that good.  His verse on P.I.M.P aint all that.  If he wanted to blow up in the same way 50 has then the only advice I can give him is he needs to get a new face because no teenage girl is gunna want a poster of him on her wall.

Banks is 10 times better than Fab? LMAO. Prove it people. Show me a verse that doesn't look like something Fab would spit. Because with those two verses I put up, they came to me with the quickness. I knew exactly the verse that proves Fab and Banks are the same style rappers. Bet, if Fab was riding with 50, and Banks with Clue, this thread would be the other way around. How do I know? Banks is 10 times better than Fab? LMAO. Prove it people. Show me a verse that doesn't look like something Fab would spit. Because with those two verses I put up, they came to me with the quickness. I knew exactly the verse that proves Fab and Banks are the same style rappers. Bet, if Fab was riding with 50, and Banks with Clue, this thread would be the other way around. How do I know? Look who started the thread.

Peep the 1st post.
Find a verse where Fab spits like that. That's right - you can't!

Yayo and Buck is riding with 50 too.. why amn't I giving them props if I'm such a dickrider ??
That's right, I'm just recognizing talent.
You're just throwing cheap punches.

And LoL @ the girls wouldn't want Banks on the wall, what do you know about it Bez.. ??  :P

I actually think Yayo has just as much as talent as banks does. Once he gets outta the 'pen he'll show everyone his skill.

But bacc to the subject at hand: First of all, I've never heard Budden spit a hot verse ever so I'ma DQ him automatically. Anywayz, although Fabolous can come tight on freestyles and what not, his albumz are wacc as fucc like Jome said. I'm 100% sure Banks would never make a tracc about throwbacc jerseys and fitteds. That's complete garbage IMO. Fab is kinda like the pretty, materialistic dude, while Banks is like the grimey, keepin' it gangsta dude. I just don't see how one could say they basically the same.

What so bank aint never materialistic?..

"i wear your advance on my neck"
"blue yankie fitted,G unit sneakers"

that whole victory freestyle...

that gangsta song wit ludacris...

nah llyod aint materialistic... ::)

ROFL...if you're gonna reply to something make sure you pay attention to the little words that make the sentence mean different things  ;)

Quote
i dont think i've ever heard banks rapping about that type of shit (or atleast not excessively like fab does

yo Sicc_Wit It...you said you've never heard joe budden drop a hot verse...have you ever heard the song 10 Minutes? that is one of the dopest songs to drop this year in my opinion...the dude is nothing special but he isnt bullshit...if 50 cent could flow like that for 10 min i would be surprised...if he could flow like that for 30 seconds i would be surprised.

Quote
Everyone is blowing him totally out of proportion.  He has got sum nice lyrics no doubt but his voice and flow ain't all that good.  His verse on P.I.M.P aint all that.  If he wanted to blow up in the same way 50 has then the only advice I can give him is he needs to get a new face because no teenage girl is gunna want a poster of him on her wall.

LMAO...P.I.M.P. is one of the whackest songs i've ever heard...chorus should go "I dont know what you heard about me, but my style isnt any better than nelly's, i have no talent, im famous cuz of dres beats, and im a muthafuckin F-A-G!"

and is 50 really that good looking...he kinda looks like a rat to me...lol

How is this different from Fab? It's talking about materialistic objects. Makes a cheesy sports reference, has gun play.

Difference? None. Only affiliation.

Even on Fab's poppy stuff he has gangsta lyrics. How is Banks gangsta and Fab not?

i never said he was gangsta...i just said he had better lyrics...fab is played out and he changed his style way too much...his first cd was dope...that was more the type of shit that lloyd banks is like...so if you wanna say lloyd banks is like fab was on his first cd i totally agree with you...but fab bitched out and started doing pussy tracks...now they are nothing alike.

The gangsta comment was directed at Sicc. But, pussy tracks? How so? Remember, "Trade It All" was on his first album. Just because it's geared towards women, don't mean they're pussy tracks.

yeah but that was about the only track like that...and i didnt say just cuz they are geared towards women they are pussy tracks...when you do half your album like that they become pussy tracks...the first album was much more gangsta and i can see comparing lloyd banks to fab's first album.

Almost every girl I know, knows that I like G-Unit. They all say "Whos the one that rhymes after Snoop in the P.I.M.P Remix?" and im like "Lloyd Banks". They all say "Id fuck tha shit out of him".

...But I dont see how his looks are gona matter. 50 Cent has scars on his face and 2 buck teeth and everyone loves him.

Biggie was overweight and cock-eyed, but every chick wanted him. Why? Fame and money.

@ Breezio: Nah, I've never heard that Budden tracc. Maybe I should checc it out.

@ SGV: Wha'chu say is totally different from wha'chu do. I could rap about shootin' niggas but I've never even pulled a trigger before. I could rap about slangin' yay, but I've never even snorted coke before. See what I mean? I look at how they act. Fabolous looks like a pretty boy, Banks looks more like a thug. Plus...I can almost bet we'll never hear a tracc from Banks talkin' about love and wifin'. This is the last time I'ma say it cuz obviously we ain't gonna agree, but IMO I can't see any similarities at all between the two.

I agree that Banks is gonna blow up.  AT least Platinum.  But, I have to disagree with this statement.  He'll need a solid second single.  A "Thug in LOve" track is always the best option.

I been sayin this time & time again...Tha only reason y'all think Fabolous aint shit is because of his weak ass commercial singles his label picks 4 him...Lyrically (as in his multis & punchlines) he's 1 of tha best...he pulls it off real clever...reminds me of Lloyed Banks...I would bump Lloyed's shit more tho, because his shit's harder...his style, voice etc...but lyrically Fab is on tha same level as him, if not better...

@ SGV: I'm just sayin' that just cuz Fab raps about bein' gangsta doesn't mean he is one. WHAT they rap about shouldn't make them similar IMO, it should be HOW they rap about it. And IMO they don't rap about it the same way as you're sayin'.

@ Rodzilla: I hope Game blows f'sho. He sounds like a West Coast version of Shyne to me. Similar shit to Banks though too. If he stays with Aftermath we might be able to see some G-Unit/Game collabos. That'd be tight.

They both rap about guns and shooting people etc. What's the difference? You can say the same for Banks that you did for Fab. Just because Banks raps about being a g, doesn't make him one. Explain what you mean by, "How they rap about it," that makes no sense to me.

speakin of banks, he'll blow up fo sho, cuz of the ppl behind him and his got good lyrics no doubt.............but his vioce is sooooo low..........and he lacks charisma.....makes me wonder if he'll be able to carry a whole able keepin a nigga listenin.........thats were prodction comes in to its fullest i guess............but like yeah homies gone blow up, but he can get borin, but he'll be fine............

Ras was wack on that track.. and the beat was too bouncy for him to flow properly on it..
