in 1993 a german guy (gatenbrink) self funded the exploration of the secret shafts in the pyramid. when he found the 'door' he couldnt get further permission.

(snip - quote from Robert Bavual author of 'keeper of genesis')
National geographic channel are opening the door live in 1 month. the head of eygptian archaeo stuff todo with permission- Dr. Hawass  has said in the past stuff against the german guy, and now...

Not only Dr. Hawass and Mark Lehner (a professor friend if his) have completely taken over his discovery (how many other discoveries, I wonder), but they have handed it to Fox and National Geographic for milking to the last drop. Hawass and Lehner both 'happen' to be the official 'reps' of National Geographic in Egypt. The real imfamy is that Gantenbtink did not even get notified, let alone invited to attend the event in Egypt.
(snip - back to me)

the 'original guy' isnt even being recognised for all the hard work he put in.

the petition is to get him involved for 2 reasons.

1) to credit him for the original discovery in the program.
2) to invite him (and his 1993 team) to comment on what is found.

it is known for a fact that the guy hasnt been asked.

eygpt is very corrupt :/

Overseer, what's the deal with Buvaual or Handcock getting Gantenbrink in trouble?  I can't remember the details, but I heard the reason Hawass won't talk to Gantenbrink is because of something he told Buvaul or Hancock in private, and they wrote about it in a book... Hawass punished Gantenbrink for it, so he kinda took the fall for something Buvaul or Hancock did.  Just what I heard, is there any truth to it?

Oh, P.S. I agree Gantenbrink has done nothing wrong, and should definately be able to be involved.  He even built an advanced robot that could do the things needed to 'open' the door after his exploration was cancelled.

bauval leaked the news about the 'door' to the press after gatenbrink told him about it.. they cool now though.
bauval isnt behind this, but he supports it and helped revise the letter to NG.

Hawass is a trip.  On one hand, I like what he's done for Giza, and his love for the country.  But on the other hand, whether it's him, or the council he's head of, there's a lot of funny politics going on.  Hawass also has a history of saying one thing, then changing his mind.  He's said this door is gonna be opened for about 3 years now, then he said there was no formal proposal submitted by anyone, now he's doing it on national t.v.   Not to mention, he always does it at like friekin' 4 in the morning in Egypt, for the American market to watch it live.  I don't understand that....

Remember when he was going to place a golden cap on top of the great pyramid, to mark the millenium? That fell through, too.  There's also been tons of explorations in the g.p. that found sand and hollow spots within, and he won't allow any further work on any of that.

What do you think of what Kent Weeks is doing in the Valley of the Kings, particularly his search for Nefertiti's tomb, and also his work in KV-5?  Do you get into that much? It's just as fascinating, I could type a rundown if you want.

^^ I don't understand what you're askin, Sikotic

Overseer : - I kinda stay away from his forum, because like you said, a lot of it's really out there.  The one I usually go to is Guardians.net, but it's pretty starched, they don't even entertain wild theories, so it's not perfect either.  I wish their was one with like a traditional board, and a fringe board.

Kent Weeks has been looking in the Valley of the Kings for more tombs.  Everybody thinks all of them have been found, but Akhenaton (The Pharoah before Tutankamen) changed the relgion from polytheism, to monotheism, and made a new capital city, Armana (I think was the city name).  He said "Aton" was the one true god.  After he died, Tutankamen restored Polytheism (which is what the masses wanted), and got rid of "Aton"... rumour has it that Akhenaton is his father, though nobody knows for sure.  Akhenaton was a very peculiar man, he's even drawn strange in paintings, he may have been deformed, even, or partially blind.

Well, anyways, They found the city, but no burial of Nefertiti (Akhenaton's wife), or Akhenaton.  These are more "Armana" royalty missing, also, and records around this time are REALLY strange, because he switched the religion, and afterwards, Pharoah's tried to act like he didn't exist.

In one tomb, right next to Tutankhamens, which was buried deeper than all other tombs, A Sarcophogus was found trashed, and the body inside had been desecrated.  Since then, the body has been partially destroyed, etc.  Nobody has id'd the body yet.

Kent Weeks Theory is this:  Tutankhamen, loving his father and mother (Who presumably, but not positively were Akhenaton and Nefertiti) had their bodies dug up @ Armana, and secretly buried in the Valley of the Kings.  Later, he died prematurely, and was buried in one of his priest's tombs next to them.

Even later, workers digging a tomb nearby, accidently dug through to KV 55, the tomb with the Sarcophogus.  Discovering the body of Akenaton, who they thought was evil (since he practiced monotheism) they trashed the body, (there was a rock through the chest, names were scratched off, etc.), and sealed the wall back up (to kill his spirit).

Kent weeks thinks that Nefertiti must have had another tomb in the valley, and he thinks that since Tut's was dug so deep, that in that general area, if he digs deep enough, he may find more tombs.  The tombs were numbered centuries ago by Priests, they placed markings above where tombs were located... there are markings in the area, but no tomb has been found yet.

so, it's a far out theory that may not be true, but it's exciting, LOL.

KV5 was the tomb of Ramses' sons, it was lost, and when originally 'discovered', it was only about 20-30 square feet large.  Through digging, Reeves discovered it was Ramses's sons tomb, he had over 50 sons... he's been digging and clearing for years, and now it's HUGE, the largest by far in the valley, with them finding more rooms deeper and deeper every year.  They're hoping to find some intact burials.

I doubt it.  I've signed dozens of them, and never seen one work.  If I was in a power position, I wouldn't care about a petition.
