Heard many other reasons but the one I've heard more than once is because Dre was the executive producer selectin what tracks go where to make sure the album had a consistent flow that was straight fire from start to finish. Should have kept Doggystyle though. This was a b-side for a vinyl on one of the singles was it not? I can't remember that far back

i dont think so, unless it was a regional thing.. as far as I know i've got the whole set of doggystyle vinyl singles.. i'm only one or two short for the chronic

i'm still pissed off they never put the x-rated perfecto mix of doggy dogg world on a CD anywhere.. :(

When you said they should have kept doggystyle, you acted like you were talking about the doggystyle CD with 'next episode'... I'm pretty sure "next episode" was one of the tracks that was actually recorded for "The Chronic" and was going to be towards the end of the CD but was dropped.  "Doggystyle" of course was going to be on "Doggystyle".

dont think so cuz there re doggystyle 12"s, tapes and cds out there that have next episode on the tracklist/backcover.

the chronic track u talkin bout was bitches aint shit which was pulled. but it was placed on the re-mastered disc now. i think all the chronic cds without a deathrow logo dont have bitches aint shit  but the ones WITH dr logo have that track....

Hey all you OG board members remember that Big Jake Doggy Dogg (I think he posts as some Jake Coleone name with a bunch of Godfather pics in his sig) said he has a SPECIAL EDITION OF DOGGYSTYLE with NEXT EPISODE ON IT. He says it has red cd art rather than blue & it was from next door neighbor, he bought it from a swap meet, He bought it at HMV fuck sorry dont know where it was from coz Jake gave so many different answers over the years

Hell it was only a year ago Jake posted here still claiming to have the cd. His excuse for not ripping it back in the day was his PC wasnt good enough & didnt know how. Now that things are so advanced & user-friendly I wonder if Jake would be kind enuff to rip it for us since he used to swear to god up & down that he wasnt lying

So Jake aka wanna be Don, how about coming out of the hiding & proving it to us once & for all

I always thought that The Next Episode was meant for Doggystyle, but Dre took it off as he wanted to have Snoop be the star of the LP and not have to use Dre's name on his own release. He was then going to release it on another LP that was a Dr Dre Presents or something (loads of guest emcees spitting over Dre beats).

And back in like 1995 or something i could have sworn everyone was saying that Doggystyle was a Daz produced track recorded after Doggystyle.

now that i think of it.....maybe it was daz.....daz sopposedly did aint no fun wit warren g so maybe they both made dis song....espcially seeing how the beat sounds similar to that song on warrens first album........CHUUUUUUCH!!!!! 8)

Title: Re:O.G. Next Episode
Post by: Trauma-san on February 25, 2004, 12:59:57 PM
I'm still almost positive "The next episode" was a chronic track, does anybody have a cover pic of the tracklisting with "Next Episode" on doggystyle?  Dre's production followed a timeline, his production on the Chronic sounds totally different than his production on Doggystyle, and you can listen to his production and tell about when the song was produced.. .there's a direct line from Efil4zaggin to deep cover to Chronic to Doggystyle to Dogg Food.  Even Snoop's flow is different from the Chronic to Doggystyle.  Maybe it was once considered for release on doggystyle, but it was definately recorded before the Chronic was finished.
Title: Re:O.G. Next Episode
Post by: Don Seer on February 25, 2004, 01:22:40 PM
dre didnt produce a thing on dogg food, just mixed it ;)

but i agree with there being a line.. for example.. the 'next episode' theme was mentioned on efi4zaggin..dres concept..

i have that doggystyle, but not scanned

my hunches are as follows..

hohopper - chronic sessions, notice at the end of rip theres a few seconds of let me ride. no doubt really on this one.

Next episode - from chronic sessions or early doggstyle sessions
gz up, hoez down - early doggystyle sessions

doggystyle - doggstyle sessions (gc says '93 in it..)

well looky here.. from oct 98...

"THERE'S A NEW SITE ON THA SCENE AN IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S COULD BE ONE OF THE DOPEST AROUND BEFO' LONG. CHECK OUT THE FOEGROUND AZ SOON AZ U CAN. THEY DON'T SEEM TO HAVE BEEN RUNIN' FO' 2 LONG YET BUT THEY ALREADY GOT THEY GAME GOIN' ON. THERE THE FIRST TO BRING ONE OF THE RAREST DEATH ROW TRACKS AROUND, THE NEXT EPISODE. THIS IS A TRACK FROM THOSE CHRONIC DOGGYSTYLE DAYS. IN FACT IT WAS PLANNED TO BE ON THE DOGGYSTYLE ALBUM BUT WAS APPARENTLY CUT OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE. TAKE A LISTEN AN U'LL SEE JUST HOW SIMILAR TO THE DOGGYSTYLE TRACKS THIS REALLY IS. APPARENTLY THE SITE'S CONSTRUCTION WAS HELPED OUT BY THA RUNNER OF SNOOP'S DOGGHOUSE, WHICH IS WHERE THIS NEWZ WAS FIRST PUT DOWN, SO GOOD LOOKING OUT DOGG. THE FOEGROUND ALSO HAS A COUPLE OF OTHER TIGHT UNRELEASED SNOOP AN DRE TRACKS LIKE 'THE HOHOPPER' AND 'HEARD IT THROUGH THE EASTSIDE', AS WELL AS ALBUM REVIEWS AN A LOT OF OTHER TIGHT SHIT. I'VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS TRACK 4 QUITE A WHILE BUT NEVER GOT TO HEAR IT TILL NOW. A SIMILAR THING HAPPENED WITH DRE AND THE CHRONIC WHERE A TRACK CALLED 'MR. OFFICER' WAS CUT OUT JUST BEFORE RELEASE. IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFORMATION ON THIS SONG PLEASE MAIL ME CUZ I'D LUV TO HEAR THIS TOO! "

mr officer was butchered by michel'le for chronic 2000, but is still unrel

I think it was ment to be on Doggystyle, just some mishap. If you look at the original "Doggystyle" with "Pimps Up, Hoes Down" - it says "The Next Episode" but its just not on the cd.

The sad part is - I know somebody out there (and I dont mean just this forum) got that song in if not cdq then better quality.

Title: Re:O.G. Next Episode
Post by: Trauma-san on February 25, 2004, 08:34:08 PM
^ The problem with that is though artists don't think like that.  They don't wanna do interviews talking about old shit from 10 years ago, especially since everybody and their brother knows Snoop was better then than he is now.  You ask him about old shit too much, especially old unreleased shit, he's gonna think in the back of his mind "motherfucker, that was 10 years ago and it didn't even come out.  Ask me about shit I'm doing now".  That's how I'd be, at least....

The doggystyle song was never released because of the sample.

the next episode beat was also used for rat a tat tat og, and later on warren g's album.  who knows, maybe they just were trying to find the right song for the beat.  Who knows, there could be many songs by dre and snoop that are unreleased that we just don't know about.

Snoop was liking the idea of putting out a Lost Tapes CD, but it'd be old stuff from No Limit rather than Death Row (so I'm told)

Mr Officer - Dr Dre featuring Michel'le ~ Heard about this song - never seen it before though!

Yeh there will be someone. Got G'z Up Hoes Down in CD Quality. Aint got OG next episode though. I've got a crappy version of that song! Wasn't able to get my hands on a good version.

The good thing about DeathRow releasing older material is that they re-master they DONT remix, and if they do they only alter the beat for freshness!

that'd be from our dubcnn interview with him ;)

http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/snoopdogg/

"
Rud : There were a few leftovers from your debut album Doggystyle such as "The Original next Episode" & the track "Doggystyle" can we ever expect to hear these released?

Snoop Dogg : Um, i dont own those - Death Row owns those - so, im pretty sure Suge Knight will put them out when my album comes out or something, you know how he work!

Rud : Some tracks were left off The Last Meal such as "Purple" & "No Bacctrackin" do you have any plans to releases something along the lines of a "Lost Tape" collection?

Snoop Dogg : I might put that out, I might put out a "Snoop Dogg - Lost Tapes" out - cause there was a cupla songs that didn't make my album that I thought were real dope - that coulda been great songs for an album, they just didn't make my album - so - yea i like that idea

Rud : A few years ago you premiered the "Street Life" track with Tupac on Westwood's radio show in the UK - are there any plans to release that in the future?

Snoop Dogg : I don't know wassup with that one, cause, you know like I said I don't - me personally - if you know since pac been dead I have not put out none of his music cause that aint how I get down - like other people are using his shit to make money off of him - that's disrespect to me so I wouldn't - I don't think I would do that unless his moms ya know, wanted to put the song out, that's the way I would do it.

Yeah the other version (re-mastered) is on the DPG 2002 that Death Row released in 2001. Yeh the original is tight. Doesn't have more emphasis on the guitar instrumental, instead you can hear the bass line better (unless the quality you have of hte original is shitty - you have to turn up your headphones)

I got that 187um in about 2 or 3 different r&b/hip hop compilations. all the same though

The doggystle tape I got just had the recent tracklist (even though I bought it when released) but I have G'z Up Hoez Down in CDQ, I guess it came from the limited editiion of doggysytle.

those live versions are on the doggfather single too..

yup you got it.. my doggystyle vinyl doesnt list next episode on the label, but does with gz up hoes down.

Im positive someone would have it if it were created (kinda like the Nate Dogg album)

Seriously, I think thats BS...

the ppl claimed they had it just wrote up reviews on amazon.com (coz they left the link on their site for the album). Most of the ppl who claimed they had it said 'Has to be a classic with these artists'.

I reckon the album was never pressed, but was near completion. My homie Nino has heard the Danny Boy song 'Against All Odds', and half the compilation turned into 'Chronic 2000'.

On the same theme, Ive heard someone had a pressed up copy of Michel'les 'Single Black Female' DR album from a fairly reliable source.

bullshit or not.... i doubt that theres a doggumentary Ep out there, a inside out comp (tho there is single promo), a red artwork doggystyle (lol), let alone a single black female album.... damn why are peeps claim that they have the inside out tracks or a cdq next episode or stuff like that when they cant prove it?.... they need a fuckin life.

The inside out Compilation was never out on CD. Only vinyl but that vinyl was never released to the public either or even radio stations. But I think someone did leak it out of the studios and was able to then promote the thing, make artwork (as I've seen in older sites) and even tracklists. TowerRecords.com had this listed. They only deleted it last year after I had e-mailed them explaining that the title has never, and will never be released.
A guy who helped me post news on my page claimed to have this and the tracks mentioned were the same as the tracklist I had saved.

Doggystle with red art work??? totally false!

Yeah, he's probably just got a bootleg.  Half the stuff yall mentioned coming out in Japan and crap sounds like bootlegs.

Do any of yall collect autographs? I've got all kinds of autographed shit.  I've got an autographed Ice Cube drum head and shit like that.  An autographed by MJ copy of their first LP as the Jackson 5, an autograhped Willie Nelson "Blue Skies" album, etc. etc. etc.

So Jake aka wanna be Don, how about coming out of the hiding & proving it to us once & for all

yeah i remember that too

Speakin of that doggystyle cd, i got 2 cd versions with gz up hoes down on it, one of the 2 cds is the us import and next episode is on tracklist of the backcover. The other CD, the european release, has the complete tracklist including the skits printed on the cd. I also had a Doggystyle vinyl with Next Episode on the cover and on the label of the vinyl., but it didnt appear on the vinyl though.

This perfecto remix thing is kinda strange, SUES, you checked your vinyl already about it?

a couple things about OG NE

1.  If a mastered CDQ version came out, the song could be better then Nuthin but a G Thang

2.  I'd take a mastered CDQ version on this song over Detox

\
He doesn't. The Next Episode was recorded After The Chronic during the Doggystyle sessions. Its a reference to Nuthin but a G Thang's line from snoop "Tell the next Episode". That's why the OG has a similar laid back beat as Nuthin But a G Thang.Sadly, while Pressings for the Album with the Original Track listing had it on the back it was taken off because the sample they used wasn't able to get clearance. As Such it wasn't on the released version at the time..It was taken out at the last minute, so its not really leftover and was going to be on the album. Just they were forced and it got cut.

As for Gz up Hoez down. This was on the original album, but for the rerelease again a Sample clearance issue forced them to take it off. If I remember correctly they said the artist they sampled didn't want to pay some sorta Studio payment or something

Also because the album's time wasn't a full LP because of The Next Episode being taken off, Dr. Dre had to cut in all those Interlude type intro's in the tracks to make it a full LP time (which is about 45 or 55 minutes I think) at the last minute, or else Interscope was going to cut the deal off with the album. Those Skits, weren't apart of the song and were listed. For the release they just put em in the track if I remember right. lol

DoggyStyle had other cuts also (eventually released off other death row compilations/unauthorized albums.Dead man walking was one of em).

what DEAD MAN WALKING songs were doggystyle cuts??

Anything released by snoop by suge was cuts from either Doggystyle, The Doggfather or even Dogg Pound sessions. All with out snoop's blessing, usually why the title was said to be a warning to snoop.Cause snoop had recorded these tracks under his timebased ironclad Contract, Suge owns the rights.

After The DoggFather was released, he refused to cut anymore, because of the death of Tupac, Dre's departure. He stopped recording cause his contract was up and was mainly done with Death Rows dwindling destruction, only few tracks, the Fuck Death Row is said to be the last thing he recorded under contract. That's when he left 4 No-Limit.
