i just got mine and i'm listening to this cd for the first time and it's :o
damn, this is some deep shit and the production is real tight...i really hope this album does well, this is hiphop at it's finest, peace.
-
sounds tight. I'ma cop this
-
I picked it up today too...
Really tight
-
Its not bad...The lyrics are really deep and dope...I think the main reason is because I'm really not a fan of DJ Premier and his beats...
-
^^^ Premier only did one track.
This album is better than Kanye's IMO. It's more of a complete album and comes together nicely. I just see Kanye's album as a bunch of really nice songs.
-
i love this album...the only thing i think is wierd is the amount of tracks that are the same beat as an older track (by another artist)...for example "T.O.D.A.Y."s beat was originally a track called "Still Got Love For You" by Beanie Sigel...and then "Regardless" sounds a lot like P. Diddy's "Let's Get It"...
then the other thing i thought was funny was on one of the tracks (forgot which one) royce uses some pac lyrics...for one its kind of contradictory considering in a previous song he disses people for biting pac...then a couple songs later he uses the lines "this is the truest shit i ever wrote"...thought it was funny that he bit pac and it was even a line sounding like he wrote it lol
-
I bought it too... Very nice album! Yall gotta pick it up :)
-
I dont care if they use samples that folks already used ! All the beats are mad tight , the lyrics and flow :o is just crazy shit . Crazy , raw hip hop album . I picked it up !

It was killing me when I couldn't figure out where I recognize that "T.O.D.A.Y." beat from. Then I realized I recognized it from "Make The Music With Your Mouth Biz".

He said they were "on his nuts", not biting him. He "bite" KRS-One, Easy-E and Chuck D too.

lol i didnt even realize that beat was redone by beanie lol...either way as far as the pac thing goes it still sounds very contradicting.

nothin has fucked with death is certain thus far this year, it's gonna be hard to top, peace.
-
on Beef he starts it just like biggies "wats beef"
-
he turned Em's "His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy" into "My arms are heavy, knees weak, palms are sweaty".. he's probably just paying homage to his fav emcees..
I don't like the album as much as yall do which may have someting to do with the fact that I don't like his voice all that much.. he's definatly dope and skilled though
-
easily best album of 2004 so far...but then..not many good albums have been dropped ;D ;D (kanye who???)
throwback is my fav
-
a lot better than i expected.. i kinda wrote royce off when they relesaed that screwed up version of boom
-
I wasnt to confident wit that album, probably cause I considered me a royce fan beforehand and expected way to much of a classic from the dude :D
however, I think it's very impressive royce doesnt have real feats on the lp. that's kinda rare nowadays.

When did that happen? And what version?
It appeared on the 12", the Rock City album, and the OST to that MTV movie and it was all the same version, wasn't?
-
I think the original from a few years back didn't have a chorus and was just one straight verse. That's what I remember anyway but I'm not 100% sure. Can anybody confirm this ???
PS: Tight album by the way. Better than 'Rock City' by a long stretch and still manages to eclipse 'Rock City: Version 2.0'. Royce is an up-and-comer for sure but I feel that he needs the power of a more powerful label who can unlock his full potential and maximise publicity for his career. Maybe Royce on the Roc? Would be nice and I would certainly like to hear 5' 9" over a Kanye beat.

Royce Da 5'9" - Heart Beat (Produced by Kanye West)

man i aint even peeped this yet.. damn
-
no the original boom beat is the one you are used to, it's the one that was released as a single and the one that appeared on 2.0...the only real change which appeared on the original rock city was on the chorus, they edited out premo's scratched chorus and edited in something like "ooh, somebody better duck and run, sombody better watch out cause he's bout ta blow" and at that point the lady or rage sample comes back in like originally "boom boom bam goddamn"...it wasn't much of a change but it pissed off alot of people, peace.
-
yeah i went out bought the original 12".. got all hyped.. they made a video.. wtf. its got this wack hook..
good album tho.. but i listened to "the bad half" bootleg after.. 'the desert' is still my shit :)

yup, he also quoted eazy from boyz n tha hood, and redman from his verse on an mc eiht album, i forget the name of the song "oh my god i destroy cities like the blob"
-
Very nice album...
-
I see...I never listened to the Euro version of Rock City. I guess you guys got screwed.
