Quik's 'Dollaz and Sense' - effortlessly cool, with humorous but still hard lyrics over an amazing beat. Need I say more? ;)

Hit Em Up is just a classic, even tho Pac wan't actually good at dissin people but he still kinda spits pure venom on this, so in a way the song's still intriguing to me today. Drop A Gem On Em was a hard response, P's verse lyrically kills (or would've killed since it was already november 96) Pac IMO and the beat's amazing

Dre Day and Real Muthaphukkin G'z were two hard disses too, also DPG Killa and What Would U Do were nice

A personal fav of mine is also Callin Out Names, the beat's mad hot and Kurupt came out with this around a time everybody was shook and afraid of beef and spit sum real hard lines, dunno how many times I bumped this

Nas vs. Jay-Z was more of a fun battle, but Ether was definitely a dope track

The Bridge Is Over is another classic

well, that's sum shit I can think of at the moment

Kool Moe Dee - "Let's Go".
Moe Dee really beat LL Cool J with this one. The best part of it is that it never gets brutal or obscene. There is always dignity: "Make you say daddy I don't want none!".

DJ Quik - Dollaz + Sense.

"Givin' your set a bad name with your misspelled name/ E-I-H-T, now should I continue/ yeah you left out the G 'cause the G ain't in you/"

Damn that line is dope.

I like Bomb First (My Second Reply) by 2Pac. It was just a hard, lyrical diss to Biggie, and even though it wasn't as raw as Hit Em Up, it was one of the best lyrical disses, full of punches, and direct disses.

Ice Cube-No Vasiline-He ripped NWA to shreads especially Eazy!

Em-Quitter-Oh Boy,I've only read the lyrics and I say Its the worse tongue lashing anybody would want to get.

Esham-Gloczup-On a album full of Em disses, dis one stands out, very good diss nonetheless.

ICP,Twiztid-Nothin but a bitch thing!-This is a funny dis song,check it out!

Eazy-E-Real Mf'n G-Good but could have been better.

Dre-Dre Day-Even I have to give It up for bitch-ass Dre for this one!

It's a strange coincedence that Cube fell the fuck off right after this. Seriously, if I was a rapper and that track was directed at me it would totally destroy any shred of ego. Common called out every single hypocricy Cube rapped about.

in terms of the effect the disses had on the other dudes career the 3 best disses of all time are:

cube - no vaseline: the worlds most dangerous group gets murdered by a former member after pickin a fight with him, they broke up shortley after

quik - dollarz n sense: eiht just wouldn't leave quik alone and the disses on here would rip anyone apart, eiht never stood a chance after this

common - bitch in yoo: cube picked a fight and common served him worse than anyone ever, called him on everything, lyrically checked him, its true cube hasn't been the same, how could he be

i'd say they were all likely underdogs too, even quik cuz eihts disses before dollarz were all tight

JUST THOUGHT OF THIS ONE

Ja Rule - Loose Change

Even Though He Mispells Murder (M-u-r-e-d-r)...he still comes with one of the best lines ever, This line knocked Em to the canvis IMO

"Em u claim your mothers a crackhead and kim is a known slut, so whats hailey gonna be when she grows up?"

RBX-AWOL

'Dr. DRE,do you remember you were broke and the whole rapgame thought you was undope?
Me and D-O-G came and wrote lyrics to replenish your name like Gatorade. But you got thirsty for the money!
Punked and disrespect the three that put you back upon it.
Allways talking that your word is gold...WASH,fool,put it out to dry cause you lie!
I put that on my momma and if I'm making this up let my momma...'

Very dope IMO!

Then of course, DJ Quik-Dollaz & Sense

Kurupt- Callin' out names
and many others.

2Pac- Hit Em Up- this really started a new trend in rap, cuz this was so raw and personal

DJ Quik- Dollarz N Sense- "Ima call u theo, cuz yo ass weighs 92.3 lbs" and "ima boot yo muthafuckin ass 2 the moon" these lines are the hardest quik ever spit

50 Cent- Backdown- This track is kinda slept on, this Dre beat is hard as fuck and the line "u sing for hoez and sound like the cookie monster" crack me up

Jay-Z- Takeover (Nas Diss Verse)- Jay-Z just needed one verse 2 get Nas heated

Honorable Mention- Kurupt-Eat a Dick- This is the best song Ive heard from Kurupt in a while the opening line is classic (Daz, Eat a dick and shut the fuck up) and the one line (U need 2 go back and listen 2 all eyez on me, 2 study who the fuck u used 2 be) prolly got Daz pissed, cuz he sucked after 96

"2nd Round KO" is classic, but I also loved LL's comeback...

Canibus said "99% of your fans wear high heals"

LL said "99% of your fans don't exist"

LL said "99% of your fans don't exist"

When you actually think about that, it doesn't make sense. How can 99% of something not exist?

Maybe he was tryna' say that Canibus doesn't have any fans...That would make perfect sense.

Dude, I know what he's TRYING to say. The fact is that, the way he said it, it makes no sense. That was the whole point of what I initially said, and you take it back to square 1.

You can't say "99% of SOMETHING, doesn't exist". It's like saying "oh look there's 100 cars, but 99 of them aren't there".
Title: Re:Best Diss Track Of All Time
Post by: Now_Im_Not_Banned on April 07, 2004, 03:28:02 AM
He can be saying that Canibus doesn't have 99% of fans, because he doesn't have fans at all, therefore making it impossible to have 99% of fans...Get it?

^^ i think you guys are analysing it a little too much...we know the point he was making.

one of my favourite lines is from DJ Quik's Dollaz & Sense:

E-I-H-T, now should I continue
Yeah you left out the G cause the G ain't in you

i thought that was dope

Funk-U-Up youre the dumbass here, not LL or anyone else. It's so obvious how it's meant and so objectively funny, get outta here. Saying that you think and that it doesnt make any sense doesnt make you lookin smart.

that's what a lot of people think, it's not really 'subliminal' by definition just cause his name ain't mentioned, but fuck it

and LL's 99% line don't make sense, even tho u get what he's tryina say. but Canibus murdered him with the counter-attack

Good List. I would add Let's Go - Kool Moe Dee, The Bridge is over - KRS1, & Eminem's Nail In the Cofin "I don't want to be like this. I don't really want to hurt no fellings. But, I'm only being real when I say nobody wants to hear their Grandfather Rap!"
