This is 2pac's debut album. This is a solid effort. Personally its nothing special. It is not the 2pac that people liked so much. His style was much different back in 1991.

One this album he expresses the problems with society. Mostly its based on police brutality. Keep in mind this was during the Rodney King trial.

1. Young Black Male - This is a pretty good opener for a album. Its kind of a awkward track since half of it Pac raps and the other half it is only a bunch of people smoking weed  and talking. If he laid down another verse then the song would be much better.
Rating: 3 out of 5

2. Trapped - This track had a nice feel to it. It is about police brutality. Has a nice message. This is almost a sample of Pac five years ahead in 96 when he was on top.
Rating: 4 out of 5

3. Soulja's Story - Another reality rap song. This is much slower and more emotional than the previous songs.  One of the best songs on the album. The lyrics are superb.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

4. I Don't Give a Fuck - This picks up the pace. Its a decent song. Nothing decent. Nothing compared to the three other tracks.
Rating: 3 out of 5

5. Violent - Well the beat sounds violent. It resembles the Psycho theme with a reggae twist. Another song directed towards police brutality.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

6. Words of Wisdom - This is another awkward track. Its almost poetic. Pac raps and talks. He speaks/raps on civil rights. His flow is tight even though he doesn't rap much. He has a good message but once again we want to hear rapping not someone talk while music is playing.
Rating: 3 out of 5

7. Something Wicked - This is a tight old skool beat. Thats all it has going for it. Pac's flow is nice as usual but nothing that particularly stands out. Probably because the song is only two minutes long.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

8. Crooked Ass Nigga - Decent beat. 2pac comes correct with his verse. I think a member of the Outlawz is on this track. It might be Young Noble but I'm not positive. Sounds like Eazy and Ice Cube are on the hook.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

9. If My Homie Calls - More like a jumpy, party track. Its probably the first track without the reality rap dealing with police brutality. Decent but its not as good as the others.
Rating 3 out of 5

10. Brenda's Got A Baby - Classic song on this album. This is one of 2pac's first hits. This song is phenominal. The story telling is great. The beat matches the mood of the song. This is a very deep, impactful track.
Rating: 5 out of 5

11. Tha Lunatic - Opposite of the last track. This is more a more happy track. It has a party feel to it.
Rating: 3 out of 5

12. Rebel of the Underground - I don't like this song. It doesn't match 2pac's flow or style. Don't worry because Pac makes a good finale with the final song.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

13. Part Time Mother - This samples Stevie Wonder's classic song "Part Time Lover". I personaly love this song. Another story telling track. Pac rips shit up along with the guests that appear on this song. This is a nice finish for the album.
Rating: 5 out of 5

I can't say this was a dissapointment since it is Pac's first album. Compared to his ther albums this record can't compete with them. You can't forget the factor that this was made during a different era of rap. During the time reality "gangsta" rap was blowing up. This is good but of course 2Pac elevates his abilities with all hs other albums.

Overall Rating: 6.5 out of 10

If there are any corrections I need to make please let me know or if there is something yu dissagree with let me know also.

Thank you

yeah 2pac really grows album from album and gets better each time around with the exception with the makaveli album where rather than getting better he's still on par...but still the man had a VERY succesful carreer and can easily be considered one of the best

Usually a rappers debut would be his best album ever, but that just not the case with Pac  ;)

But every rapper gets better on every album they make unless they change their style completely. There are other exceptions too.

R U Still Down is the best post humous album Pac got. All those songs were made when he was on top. Some were sctually changed for the better.
