I don't know if reading makes one smarter, but no doubt it increases your knowledge.

I'm currently reading:

"Islam and Revolution":  By Imam Khomeni-  Khomeni was the architect of the Islamic revolution that overthew the Shah's Western backed dictatorship in Iran.  In this book he discusses his thoughts on Islamic law and the establishment of an Islamic government.  There's one piece in particular where the Pope writes Khomeni a letter pleading with him to release American Embassy hostages in Iran, and Khomeni sharply responds educating the Pope for about 4 pages deep, like "Where were you when our people where being brutalized and tortured against the Shah?", and "Did you know that these hostages where spy's, conspiring against us for the purpose of maintaining Western interests", and "Shouldn't the Iranian people be able to decide the fate of the man who has oppressed our country for nearly 30 years?"  Very interesting read, although it's not easy to read because Khomeni does not speak English so his words had to be translated.

"Die Nigger Die"-  by H. Rap Browne-  This book was written by the man "rap" music was named after, H. Rap Browne.  He was a popular civil rights activist in the 50's and 60's, there is one piece in the book where he talks about "playing the dozens" as a youngster and he drops a rap (this was 50 years ago) that is iller than anything written today.  He was a leader of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee and worked with the Black Panther Party.  This book however, doesn't describe the man he is today, after spending time in prison, around 1970 he converted to Islam, changed his name to Jamil Al Amin and has since written the book, "Revolution by the Book", which he says more closely portrays his current state of mind.

Hey, you never responded to that post; I wonder why.

By the way, reading might help you with the language, you know?... seeing that you can't spell worth shit.

Really my new thing is I'm trying to study the etymology of words.  Like, it's interesting to me when I find a word like "cotton" has Arabic roots, that the word "America" was taken from the old Keltic language and meant "warrior", or that the name "Marcus" came from the worshipping of the planet Mars as a God.   I love that.  That's my new hobby, going to the library and looking at their reference material on the origion's of words and names.

reading a book , mostly interested about books about music.. i forgot what its called. dont have the book on me. in an internet cafe right now.. but somethin like "it aint about a salary:rap race and resistance in los angeles" excellent reading material.. quite pricey though.. but has OLD school interviews with everyone before they blew up.. this islike pre 92, pre The Chronic era... like old school interviews with quik, boo yaa, kid frost, dre, ice cube, eazy e, and all that shit. Great shit.. but the book costed me like 70 bones.. and it wont really cost any cheaper than that.. i also reading the ego trip rap list book.. excellent reading materiall. not really a REAL story/book.. but has tons of knowledge... it'll striaght up increase ur knowledge on hip hop by like 2000 fold..

i just started reading Empire by Niall Furguson, about the british empire which was the largest empire every at its peak controling 1/4 of the world from a small country called england with very little beuracracy many countries could take note at our previous administration, promotion of free trade etc. even tho it did have its darkside which most people know about and can't be forgotten but everyone seems to forget about its positives including trying to stamp out slavery once we came to our senses and gracefully giving up our empire while others thaught to keep or increase theirs.
