For the longest time I didn't feel any of this kind of pride. I was from Holland and I didn't really care about it. The first time I was really proud to be Dutch was with Graduation in America when I saw my flag that they hung up for me. Just the fact that they did that especially for me, you know... that was really cool... but I also realized that being from Holland I grabbed the opportunity to teach a lot of people in America about Europe cause most Americans don't know jack shit about anything from outside The States.
Dutch people are really open minded. Look at the Dutch drug policies, look at how we deal with prostitution, look at the euthanasia law... how many countries have laws like that? Another thing that makes me proud of my country is when I see artists like Do and DJ Tiesto blow up all over the world. It's just cool when you see a cd called "Tiesto Live In LA" or something :)
I think I always felt that Dutch pride when I was in America, but it wasn't until Graduation till I actually realized it. Maybe you have to live in a foreign country to really feel proud of your own country...
(I think I was looking at that flag for about half of the time lol)

I'm more proud of being from Vancouver than I am of being Canadian. The west coast of Canada gets ignored by the rest of the country, we're basically on our own. I couldn't be more proud of being from here, it's the best place on earth (at least that's what our commercials say lol).

I'm only recently found myself quite proud of Canada, that's why I'm so hard on her. I think part of being proud of your country is being able to critisize what's wrong with it, not being a blind idiot.

I'm more proud of being from my hometown then of my home country,though I am proud of it nevertheless.
But somehow,anyone from my hometown (Breskens, Bresjes in dialect) is proud of it..If I'd start a rap group it would be the Bressiaanders and all the while we would shout 'Bresjes!' like Tray Deee shouts out 'Eastside!' ;D

I mean, okay it's cool, you were born at a place, your parents kick you to school sumwhere and you grow up in a country. But than, so what?
I don't feel nuthin' special for "my" country. I probably could live everywhere and feel at home.
And then, like extreme loving of your country, what use is it? It's only to get more concurention with other countries, in my opinion (our country is the best i am proud of it... "no, bitch. OUR country is the best, so fuck you!")...

lol paying taxes and voting.. that's a thing noone can do ... it makes me feel special. And Im very, very proud of me paying taxes and supporting liars. I'd be even more proud of it if I was an American of course. Then, I would contribute to genocide and political opression with my tax money. Wow. But I only can dream about anything that great :-\.
In other words.. Im forced to give my government money, and they do whatever the fuck they want with it, and most of the time, I dont even like/support what is done with it. Im eligible to vote for a certain politician, but it's always a dickhead.
