OK.... i've been doing some investigating since my last post
I hope to upgrade WCC to Yabb SE PHP/MySql what this means is...
- WCC will be moved to www.igangsta.com (www.dubcc.com will also work)
- WCC will be faster in many ways from loading to searching etc
- The new script compresses output. This means WCC will use around 1/3rd less bandwidth than it currently uses. (the limit is 30 gigs, we're shifting about 32 gig a month - i pay when it goes over. it will drop to around 15 from reports i've seen :) )
- WCC will not lose any of its 'history' (e.g. Old Posts)
- Users will have the ability to create polls (yippee)
- People will be redirected to the new location via a page which will also contain the new rules of wcc (we discussed these a bit before) - forum template will also contain a link to rules
- I want to fix the header at some point (the layout and its colours are not up for change)
- WCC will be less prone to data errors because forum data is stored using an SQL database
- WCC will be faster to backup (good for me)
- foreign users can switch the language, but they still have to post in english
- At the moment yabb se (like yabb cgi/pl which we use now) doesnt support 'extra' smileys, but as its being worked on (unlike yabb for which the project is frozen) this may come as a feature in a future upgrade.
- the board software is free.. which means we're legal (i refuse to pay $200 for vbulletin or ubb)
only thing is... once we've moved over.. we cant go back ;o

Dont worry, i'm gonna practice first + backup wcc first so dont fret... wcc will not get lost :)

The thing i want to fix with the header is where it changes when u move the mouse over the 'west coast connection forum' text. I just want it to act like a normal link.
I still have the original .PSP file with all the layers and transparencies from when I made it. If i chop it right i can do what I want easily.. i think :)

update: i managed to get a 'test' version working on the server....
next step (mayb tommorow) is a practice upgrade run with an old copy of wcc
only problem so far... the buttons that come with it are straight WACK so i'mma have to sort something out.

Sound dope seer mate. Just keep WCC here and I and I think everyone else will be happy. Just 1 problem tho, what wil Yer and Nar be translated into?
