Title: One day left, who is gonna win?
Post by: Lincoln on November 01, 2004, 06:20:39 PM
Well, the campaigning is over. Who will be the winner? My money would be on Bush but I'm not a betting man  ;).

I'll say Bush, I'm curious for everyone to post up who they think will win, not who they want. Then we can see who was right or wrong.

It's too close to tell... I guess we'll see tomorrow.

^^ you know.  I wouldn't have your hopes down too far.  I can't call it either way, but I'm happy about our chances.  If you look at the long term trend for Bush it is just down down down down down.  Remember he once had a approval rating in the 90s its been slowly plummeting.  There was a time when most democrats liked GWB, now there are lots of republicans who are questioning him.  In fact I know at least 5 republicans personally that are voting Kerry.  Consider these numbers too:

If you average all polls together 43% of the country says we are heading in the right direction; 51% say the wrong direction

Clearly there is a strong downward trend for Bush and clearly that trend is unstoppable.  When you look at the long run and ignore weekly fluctuations and occasional highs and lows, Bush's numbers drop 1-2 percentage points each month on avg.  Now if you realize he was once at above 90% approval rating the only question is if the country has had enough time to digest his failures and see him for what he is.  Eventually its inevitable almost that GWB will have absolutely horrible numbers, it just might not happen soon enough, but its certainly close.

BTW... I bet $200 on Kerry to win today at about 50/50 odds.  If he wins I make $200 if he loses I lose $200.  So maybe i'll have a lil extra fun tomm.

I was thinking about betting on Bush to win for a bit.  I figure if I bet say 1k on Bush winning, well then if Bush does win at least i'll have something to be happy about, and if Kerry wins then I won't mind missing 1k lol.  Political hedging :) but I have some last minute confidence in Kerry.

That wouldn't be so bad... what goes around comes around.

But anyway, Kerry is running away with the election... he will accept victory tonight at Copley Square in Boston and I will be there to see it.
