Title: Opinions on King T's "Kingdom Come" (please?!)
Post by: Lord Funk on September 16, 2002, 08:15:28 AM
Hey all - just a favour to ask anyone with an opinion. Is King T's Thy Kindom Come worth my £16??

I was hyped for it back in 98, but now that it's actually available after all that time I'm just not so eager. I can't find any snippets to check on the net, so if anyone here has it (I'm guessing a few do), could ya spare a minute to recommend it or warn me off?

I want it to be some rugged beats with above average lyrics - would I be disappointed?? Oh, and what's the Quik track(s) like? In short - IS IT A DOPE CD?

Thanks in advance all - I'll let you know if I stump up the cash if I get enough recommendations  ;)

the king t album is a bit confusing....  :D

is the ruthless version and aftermath version the same?  :-/

the version that is out is dope.. one cool thing is the samples.. some songs reminds u of classics like "whats my name" and "california luuv"  8)

It's in my local HMV, but from the different covers I've seen on the net it seems like some independent companies have got hold of the masters and put it out themselves - the copy I've seen looks vaguely professional, but it's still clearly not authentic (not that I care too much - if Dre didn't want to put it out himself, he can't complain if someone else takes the initiative)

Can anyone list the credits?
Title: Re: Opinions on King T's "Kingdom Come" (please?!)
Post by: Celtic_Fan on September 17, 2002, 04:25:36 AM
The album is a solid 4.75mics verging on 5 the Quik track is bannanas the beat swithces up about 2/3rd's of the way through the song. There are credits on the album from what i can remember

Battle Cat does 3 tracks
Buddha does 2 tracks
Mike Dean does 1 Track
Dj Quik does 1 track
Fredwreck does the intro
Ant Banks does 1
Stu does 1
The doctor laces 8

Now the Dre beats are off the hook as is the Battlecat tracks as a mater of fact the album bangs there are guest appearences from Kool G Rap , Tray Dee, Dj Quik, Shaquille O'Neal, Mc Ren & more. Can't post up a tracklisting just now cause at work. The only thing that stops me giving this album top marks is the fact that some songs just cut out at the end which i find irritating. Definently worth the money though cause it ain't as if it will be easy to pick up in a couple of years i imagine.

The credits are wrong dre only produced 2 cuts on the album king T said so himself many times, so i was wondering if anyone knew which 2 he did produce? (and who produced the ones it claims he did?)

well King t said there were 3 Dre produced tracks on the final version of the album, but since there were 3 different versions of the album I guess those 8 or 9 are all really produced by Dre, but not ment to be on Thy Kingdom Come. Its just a bootleg anyway. I could name you at least 4 tracks produced by dre

thats what Im sayin. Im sure they wouldnt put his name on the cd when he didnt even produce the tracks. and when i say bootleg i mean tracks that were released on the underground tip, and not some downloaded mp3z and burned on cd lol. you can tell the record copany wanted to make money, the artwork is very cheap and they didnt even own the tracks, unless aftermath sold the trax

would yall call this his best work?  I would.  But I have only heard this one, Thy Kingdom Come, and At Your Own Risk, and IV Life.  Thy Kingdom Come is DEF a well produced album.  one of the best produced albums out there (that I have heard).  so to me, it's his best album.  what do yall think?

Yeah, I think So.  Why is everybody asking about this all of a sudden, it's been out for MONTHS now, it was posted all over the board, WCKILLAZ had full mp3'z up, etc. etc.

WOAH! There I am, just idly checking the board, and this has 22 replies! Thanks for the feedback all - sorry to Darth and Nima for bringing the topic up, but I wanted some opinions on the CD before copping it.

Got it today, and have listened to it once. I'm impressed. It's pretty raw - as Celtic Fan says, some of the tracks just cut out. Also, one track has T rappin' over Dre and LL's Zoom beat - and not just the beat, but a loop of the original instrumental, complete with Dre going "zoom, zoom, zoom." I really can't imagine that was intended for the Aftermath release proper.

Anyway, for those who wanted the listing:

1. Intro (featuring Ice T) Prod. by Fredwreck

2. Speak On It . Prod. by Dre

3. Stay Down. Prod. by Buddah

4. Skweeze Ya Balls (featuring Baby S) Prod. by Battlecat

5. Monay (featuring Dre) Prod. by Dre

6. Da Kron. Prod. by Dre

7. Big Boyz (featuring Too $hort) Prod. by Ant banks

8. Lets Make A V (feat. Frost, Quik and El Debarge) Prod. by Quik

9. Tha game (It's Ruff) (feat. Playa Hamm) Prod. by Battlecat

10. Reel raw (feat. Killa Ben) Prod. by Dre

11. 2 G's From Compton (feat. Ren) Prod. by Stu B Doo

12. Shake Da Spot (feat. Shaq O'Neal) Prod. by Buddah

13. 6 N Da Mornin' (feat Dawn Robinson) Prod. by Dre

14. Step On By (feat Dre, RC and Crystal) Prod. by Dre

15. Big Ballin' (Playin' 2 Win) (feat RC) Prod. by Dre

16. Where's T (Feat. Dre) Prod. by Dre

17. Nuthin' Has Changed (feat. Kool G Rap and Tray Dee) Prod. by Buddah

18. The Original (feat Who's Who) Prod by Mike Dean

Here is how i rate the album

Intro - Pretty pointless really, pretty dope bea in the back ground though.

Speak On It - 5/5 Great Beat bye Dre
Stay Down - 5/5 Another Great beat(By Budda)
Skweez Ya Ballz Feat Baby's -  5/5 Dope Beat by Battle Cat
Monay feat Dre - 5/5 Dope Beat Dre comes of nice as well
Da'Kron - 4/5 Another good eatjust not as good as the first 4
Big Boyz Feat Too $hort - 4/5 dope beat again this time from AntBanks.
Let's Make A.V. Feat Dj Quik, Frost & El Debarge - 5/5 possibly my favourite song of the album i love the way Quik swutches the beat up at the start of the third verse dope, dope, dope.
Ta Game (It's Ruff) Feat Playa Ham - 5/5 another dope beat (See a trend here)
Reel Raw Feat Killa Ben - 5/5 Another dope as fuck beat Dre killin it and King T & Killa ben just rip it up
2G's From Compton Feat MC Ren - 5/5 Stu drops a dope beat and T & Ren put out an ode to Compton.
Shake Da Spot Feat Shaquile O'Neal - 5/5 another dope beat by Budda using a Cali Love esque track and samples from the OG Cali Love fortunately Shaq is only on te hook but does it well Great Track an ode to Cali.
6'N'NA Moe'Nin Feat Dawn Robinson - 3.5/5 Dre samples Zoom Zoom Zoom beat and a Bigge Sample and doesn't come of that well, dre's worst beat on the album
although it isn't a terrible beat just not as good as the others IMO.
Step On By Feat Dr Dre R.C & Crystal - 5/5 dope beat Dre comes off nice great hook and king T rips it as usual another contender for my fav song
Big Ballin (Playing 2 Win) Feat R.C 7 - 4/5 dppe beat again by Dre
Where's T feat Dr Dre - 5/5 another sick beat by Dre and he comes of nice again contender for fav song as well
Nuthin Has Changed Feat Kool G Rap & Tray D - 4/5 good bet by Budda all three Mc's rip it.
The Original Feat Who's Who -  3/5 ot the best of beats by Mike Dean really slow beat probably the worst song of the album.

Alltogether this album has banging production great perfomances by everyone who appears how the Source only ave this 3.5/5 is beyond me. This whole revie is my own opinion and some may disagree with some of the scores but this reall is a dope album if you see it pick it up cause i don't think it will be very easy to get a hold of in a year or two.

Ok...for every1 that slept on this...THE ALBUM IS OFFICIALLY OUT IN STORES, NOT INTERNET. it is not a bootleg, its a real album and should be available at best buy and Tower. it is a nationwide release, and i think even worldwide.

Probably none, seeing as how they don't even list it on their websites (not to mention the fact that I've been to many different BB's and CC's, and I've never found it).
