Post by: topshotta on November 03, 2004, 02:52:44 AM
"Encore" is just as great as I hoped it would be, I ain't saying i was EXPECTING
a great album, I really wasnt expecting nothing, cause after "Eminem Show"
I thought Eminem abit lost his touch, but this is a great mix of tracks, he could've
cut down on the goofy-vibe, but except from that this is solid Slim Shady shit.

Post by: 7even on November 03, 2004, 03:08:51 AM
Im very disappointed.
He just sings all the time, even when he raps it's almost like singing.
The lyrics hardly have dope rhymes or content.

Best Track: Like Toy Soldiers

Worst Track: My 1st Single. This is the worst Track I ever listened to without skipping after 1-2 minutes.

Just listen to "We as Americans" and "Love you More" or what the fuck it's called.. this is how rap songs should be, and there is not one fucking song on  Encore that is even a little similiar.

you know the worst thing about all this is, that I think he does it intentionally. Im sure he is still capable of making awesome RAP tracks.

but instead, he sings all the time, farts and burbs and raps in spanish accents. horrible. just horrible.

its kind of the comedy/humor from SSLP mixed with the topics & seriousness of TES

lol what's also crazy: I was shocked when I heard 50 Cent was on 3 Tracks because he sucked so much lately. Now, compared to the rest of the Album, Im glad that he at least doesnt sing in 2 of 3 cases like Em does.. LOL!

I have to say it again: Sold Slim Shady shit!
It should be flipped-out/serious/funny/good delivery/good flow/nice beats/sometimes clever/sometimes dumb/
I even like "My 1st Single", the beat is on some innovative shit!
Title: Re: Eminem-Encore-2004-RNS is just at great as I hoped + more!
Post by: Kill on November 03, 2004, 03:38:47 AM
my impression, only judging from "Just Lose It" and what people say tho, is that the maturity he showed on TES is kinda lost again, and he's gotten back to farting, burping and non-sense humor like you say and then throws in a political track or two, plus doesn't make an effort to rap no more. for those reasons i just don't even feel like listening to it, cuz i'm surrounded by good music here lol. i will force myself to tho, so i can talk about it, but now i'm at a point of not being able to have any real hopes anymore... :-\

that Em Calls Paul track is hillarious

i'd say its a 4 outta 5 album.. nothin classic, still worth the money though

Yep, my thoughts. I don't feel this shit. Like many of you said: Em singing is just shit, lyrics are not eye-openers.

ok, i haven't listened to it all but to most and i doubt i will go on anymore. shit's very disappointing. "My First Single" fuckin hurts my ears, worse than "Just Lose It" did and the rest is mediocre-ok, the only track i liked was "Like Toy Soldiers". "Mosh" is boring without a video, too. Didn't like it

Big disappointment, some funny moments in 'Ass Like That', 'Big Weenie', 'Rain Man' and the 'Em Calls Paul' skit cracced me the fucc up. My favourite tracc that I hadn't already heard was probably 'Never Enough', but on the whole there were far too many joke tunes for my likin. But the delivery was good.

He will never ever top MMLP. Last 2 LP's have been big disappointments imo

This...

is the fucking worst album 2004 will bring!?! What the fuck's wrong with a CD when fucking JUST LOSE IT makes it to the top 3 of its tracks?

I heard ONE song I liked, the third track "Never enough" with 50 Cent and Nate Dogg, and that song is WAY TOO SHORT to fully enjoy it... and it only gets good after Eminem shuts his mouth after 1:19. Nate and 50 are flowing like crazy. Still, they only get 1:20 to do so. Such a waste.

Fucking worst album of the year.

Buying this? There's millions of ways out there to spend your money, better than this.

Damn you guys are a bunch of fuckin haters.  I can understand the hating on Snoop's album because it was something different, and you might not have felt it, but this CD sounds just like the other Eminem CDs, except with more Dre and Dre-type production.  How can you like "TES" and not like this?  The sound is the same.  WTF.

I've only heard Just Lose It and the three tracks posted at DubCNN, and I'm not excited about this album at all anymore. "Never Enough" is the shit though, that's the kind of stuff I was hoping to hear. On the reast I've heard Em's raps fuckin suck. Judging from the comments here he's on that shitty comedy mode for the most of the album. This time I gotta think twice wether or not I cop the newest Eminem.

PS: I'm listening to The Slim Shady LP as I'm writing this, and the comedy stuff that's on there definitely isn't the same type of stuff I heard on the tracks so far. Slim Shady LP's stuff sounds good, at least Em got a killer flow on all the time, the new shit sounds just dumb. That shit with the accent for a whole song is straight up wack.

Guess I'll make an exception to my rule and download this one and keep the "4 or 5 tracks" peeps here have been liking.

So roll on, new year. Bring on The Game.

I don't like it so far. Unless it really grows on me, I have to say this is his worst album. I thought SSLP was his worst album, because of too much comedy. He showed a little growth with MMLP and then showed a lot more with TES, but now he went right back to the comedy, but it is nowhere near as funny as SSLP, and it doesn't even sound as good. I also don't see any hits on this album. Both MMLP and TES had The Way I Am, and Cleaning Out My Closet. I knew both those songs would become huge. I don't think this album has that. I'll have to wait and see, but so far I really don't like this album. This may be the first time I will not show up on release day to buy the album. Em was the only guy in hip hop I could still listen to and enjoy, well not anymore. Of course I could change my mind after a few more listens.

My favourite track is Mocking Bird, and Yellow Brick Road, because they sound real. His old stuff didn't always sound real, but atleat it sounded good. This just doesn't even sound good. It's almost as if he's in denial about his aging and wants to be young again.

ive listened to 8 songs.

Mosh ive already heard before (i like it). Yellow brick road is decent.

the song puke....wtf is that. He's singing. I dont know maybe he wants to become a pop star, or maybe hes trying to sell these records to 14 year old teeny boppers.

I think ur not the only one who predicted a wack album, I did too, and a lot of people with us. But still, this beats everything. One song which would be worth listening is quite pathetic for a generally much anticipated album.

Also, I wonder... The people who say they really like this album, are those the same people who bump for example Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique or Wu-Tang?

It's a shame that so many of you decided you hated this album before you even heard it.

I don't understand what the problem is. I really like it.. there are a few tracks i'm feeling less than others, but overall it wa sa great first listen, and getting better the more i listen to it.

Stop reading other people's fucking posts about this, and listen to it with your own two ears..

(and by the way, puke is FAR from a fucking pop song.)

and everyone saying "Em calls paul is the best thing on the album" ... your logic is confusing.. you hate the humour in the songs on the album, but you like this skit ?

                                                           ???

4 / 5

listened to it about 6 or 7 times, growin on me with each listen

i think it might be his 2nd best album.. im REALLY diggin it. im more for the comedy/humor on here, never was one for all the seriousness of his latest tracks..

his flow is CRAZY on alot of the tracks, and while he's subject matter isnt the best, the lyrics are dope

favourite tracks: evil deeds, never enough, yellow brick road, like toy soldiers, puke, spend some time, one shot 2 shot, encore. damn near the whole album. Obie KILLS it on spend some time

people are crazy....i will say this album did not live up to my standards for eminem....yet....the eminem show needed to grow on me too. in time i feel like this could be a great album....

people have been talking about the album like the entire album is fart noises and burping....only 2 songs had that...and puking in the beginning of puke....yeah that was lame...shoulda been left out...but those were in all the songs that would've been lame in the first place. as for the singing...you cant tell me that he didnt do that in the eminem show (hailies song anyone?). or how about the accent that was used on ass like that....IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY!!!....you guys act like he rapped the entire album with that accent and then inserted random farts, burps, and pukes in every song. get off of it and give the album a chance. people have been doubting this album for months...if you think about it negatively months in advance of course your gonna think about it negatively while listening to it.

The "Ass like that" beat is BY FAR one of the craziest I've heard in a long time...

But whats up with the rapping though? lol

The way I see it is that whole song is a parody of Triumph the comic dog. I think he's trying to show the double standard people have when doing parody. He gets hated on for doing the same shit the comic dog does, but it's OK for triumph cause it's a puppet on a hand.

But this Album is nothing compared to his other 4 Albums. Nothing.
When Obie & 50 shine Em out on his own shit there must be something wrong dudes.
Im totally suprised that people like this Album.
And Im sure that the people who like this Album either like it for
1) the beats
or
2) the singing (which includes most of his raps too, since he never really raps)

Don't be such a hater. Just because it wasn't what you were expecting, or you don't understand the point he's trying to make with the songs doesn't make it bad.

He took it back to some Marshal mathers LP type shit. Thats the kind of eminem I like. Not that "Look at what a hard life I had" type shit. It's funny, It's got great beats, he's got fucking AMAZING flows, and it's a nice album to listen to. What more do you want? I wasn't expecting shit from this album after his last one, but it's really nice.

BTW, do you really expect the source to give a good review of this album?

i love how people try to justify the wackness of this album.. lol .. i bet the source gives it like 2.5 mics.. they will have fun with this...

BTW, do you really expect the source to give a good review of this album?

mmlp = 4.5/ 5
encore = 3/5 (and thats being generous)

My favorite Eminem tracks are the ones where he doesn't take himself so seriously, and is funny.  A song like "Evil Deeds" is great, because he's talking about interesting things, but keeping it funny and entertaining.  I think what we have with Eminem is someone who is immensely talented, but kind of bored.  I get the feeling that he just fucks around because he gets sick of trying to be 'deep' or whatever.  Anybody who doesn't know by now that this guy is one of the greatest rappers to ever live is crazy.  Lyrics, Flow, he's the total package, I don't even think he has limits, there's nothing he can't do on the mike, but he's just bored.

this doesnt even compare with TES. Ive already had 5 friends hear this and they think its a fuckin joke saying it either cant be real or he fell the fuck off. Im a big time eminem fan and i am dissapointed in this album. Why? because he is capable of doing better. When you know someone is capable of doing better and they release bullshit about gay football situaitons and accidently sticking your dick in a football players ass that is very dissapointing. And to think i almsot spent 20 bucks on this cd for pre-order.

Hey I can admit that all criticism Encore have gotten from some on this board isn't totally unjustified.
It took me acouple of listenings to admit it..
But still: I like the album, but in Eminem-standards, this is def. his worst album!

Still Im happy with the album cause you just have to realize that Eminem ain't the same MC he once was.
He ain't as hungry as he was, he makes music on routine too much now, just following a hit-formula, it has begun to be a bit
boring listening to. Eminem-albums have seen better days and his best-before date expired after "Eminem Show".
But like I said, I like this album, but in Eminem-standards "Encore" is abit of a dissapointment

You dont even understand my discussion son, I ain't tryin to defend the album, like I said I think Encore is Eminem's worst
album, but compared to other hip-hop releases this year it's a good album.. Just take Rhyhtm&Gangsta as an example, although the one leaked
may not be the final version, Snoop fell the fuck off even more than Eminem!

Since you first mentioned Lil Wyte, I've always stated that it was because he's not as good an MC, that his album will never be as good as Ems. This is rap and is based on the MC. The problem is when people take the focus off the MC and place it on the production. I'm sorry but second rate musical loops and samples should never be looked at as more, or even as, important as the rapper. Musically Hip Hop sucks, always has. It was the lyrics, flow, delivery, and rhyme patterns that were supposed to be significant, not the beats. This is why I don't think Lil Wyte's album has the potential to be better than Em's. Lesser MCs can make better albums, but when one MC is light years worse than the other, it isn't possible in my eyes.

Post by: eS El Duque on November 05, 2004, 12:09:01 PM
Not really a review, just going to speak on the good tracks. People are upset becuase Encore isn't as "serious" as TES or as good as MMLP. But this is another Eminem album, I mean..what more do you want? Same formula he's used for every album.

Here are your eminem serious type of tracks

Mockingbird 4.5/5
Toy Soldiers 5/5
Mosh 4/5
Never Enough 5/5 Nate is  :o

Here is your "Kill you" type of Eminem track

Puke 4/5
(This is a great track, jsut skip threw the beginning where he pukes ;D)

Here's your love tracks from Eminem

Spend Some Time  4/5
Crazy In Love 3.5/5

and here's your funny-ass/fucked up Eminem Tracks

One Shot-Two Shot 4/5
My 1st Single 1/5
Just Lose It  2/5
Big Weenie 1/5
Rain man 3.5/5
Ass Like That 4/5
(Just for the hilary duff line it deserves 4 ALONE!)

Eminem growing up as a kid type of ttracks

Evil Deeds 4/5
Yellow Brick Road 4/5

Then you have your Dr Dre Track...

Encore 4/5 Well, this is a Dre track more than anything else..nice to hear him!

Then you got the skits..intro..and outro...not much to say but..well done lol

This Encore isn't garbage..it's 4/5 at LEAST! You throw out somee of the goofy tracks...then you got a great album...but you can't do that becuase then you're throwing out a part of eminem..thats eminem for ya!

So my final rating for Encore...4/5.

.everyone's entitled to their opinion...so what do you rate the album? track by track? if you liked it or hate it...speak!

while encore is certainly not as good as its predecessors, there are a few cuts i just can't stop bumpin':
- ass like that (fuck the lyrics! dre's beat is crazy 8))
- encore
- like toy soldiers
- never enough (it's too short, though! :/)
- spend some time

i just listened to jay-z's track renegade ft. eminem. em's verse murders everything on encore.

eminem can't complain about benzino giving him a low mic rating this time. he brought it on him self. the best track on the album(like toy soldiers) still ends up coming out fucked up, because eminem has the worst drums in hip hop. he should've just stuck with the original ones.

So: Scarface, Bun B, Juvenile, B.G., Lil' Wayne, Curren$$y, Magic, Fiend, Lord Infamous, Trick Daddy, Big Gipp, Khujo, Chamillion, Magno, Killa Kyleon, Foul Mouf, 8-Ball, MJG, Big Boi, Dre, Mac, Bubba Sparxxx, Pastor Troy, Kamikaze, Slim Thug, Lil Keke, Killa Mike, Paul Wall, E.S.G., Playa Fly, Little Brother, Deuce Poppi, etc. are jokes? LOL. You're a fuckin' clown and a dickrider. You don't know about Southern Hip Hop, just keep hating you idiot.

I love Scarface, 8 Ball MJG, and Outkast. I didn't know Little Brother was from the south, but I like them. I kind of like the Nappy Roots, and Dead Prez  (if they count as South). Bubba's okay sometimes. Everyone I mentioned counts as the few I said weren't a joke. I don't care for the rest of those you mentioned and I don't like their music. I consider it a joke. I don't have a problem if you don't. I think Bruce Springsteen is one of the greatest artists of all time. You probably think he's a joke. No big deal.

shallow i see what you are saying.. but the funny part is.. eminem has so much skill.. and puts out such a garbage album.. and u cant judge lil wyte without hearing it first..

I agree that this is a joke for an Eminem album, but it's still better than a lot of other Rap albums, just because of the few songs it does have. As bad as Encore is, I still think it's better than the Game is To Be Sold, anything from Cash Money, and every single recording from No Limit, except for Snoop's Topp Dogg.

As for Lil Wyte;
Well I'll give it a listen, but unless it's 1000 times better than the one I did hear from him I can't see me liking it. You're right though, I can't judge before I hear it. What's it called?

Okay to be completely honest I've heard a lot from the following;

Bun B, Juvenile, B.G., Lil' Wayne, Magic, Fiend, Trick Daddy, Pastor Troy,

Expcept for one or two Trick Daddy songs, I hate everything that has come out of these guys. So if the others mentioned are significantly different than these few let me know, and I'll give them a listen. But most South Songs sound bad to me and I hear a lot with out knowing who the artist is. I just know I don't like the songs.

Didn't think their were many Bruce fans on the forum. Well there's gotta be something I like that you think is stupid. That's all I meant. How about pro wrestling?

^^^If that's all you heard from the list, don't you think you should NOT generalize? That's my entire point here, DO NOT GENERALIZE. Make a statement like "What I've heard from the South has been garbage." That's cool, that's an eduacated opinion. Generalizing just makes you a hater. BTW, you're the only person to ever say they hate everything Bun B has done. I'm curious as to what you've heard from Bun?

Wrestling is HORRIBLE now. I'm old school. I'm talking, The Rockers, Mega Powers, Andre The Giant, Hart Foundation when they were with Bobby Henan, Hercules Hernandez, Akeem The African Dream when he was One Man Gang, Harley Race, Rock n Roll Express and Midnight Express, Barry Windham etc. All the new Wrestlers are lame.

I apoligize for gereralizing. So point me in the direction of South Rappers that don't sound like that. I also didn't mean to keep Bun B on that list. I've always liked UGK.

As for wrestling, Chris Benoit is just as good in the ring as Harley, and better than everyone else you've mentioned. I agree wrestling isn't as good now, but I'm a sucker for the old NWA. Ric Flair and the Horseman vs Dusty.

Chris Benoit is boring to me.

I liked the fact that a cat like Harley Race personified a bad guy and someone like Hogan personified a good guy. There wasn't this jumping back and forth, they kept the illusion up better then, as opposed to now.

In today's wrestling world, what's fuckin' with the Skywalker matches?

I wonder how the mainstream takes this CD, and how "official" it'll that this is his worst  Album by a mile. I hope he just sells like 4x plat or something, then he and Jimmy see what they got from and make a fucking rap record next time.
