Public Enemy is just as consistent as Gang Starr and better (IMO), so I'd give it to PE then Gang Starr at #2.

How on earth are Gang Starr, Public Enemy and Redman considered underrated?  They are considered some of the best EVER.

I'm going with Devin The Dude.  (probably more slept-on then underrated but I'll go with him anyways)

i think so too. they just don't have as much mainstream popularity as the likes of Ja Rule or Luda or whatever, but among hiphop heads none of them is underrated

I agree with the Khujo/Cee-Lo stuff, One Monkey Did kinda Stop The Show tho, still Khujo's tight

true, but you can't deny that he has talent. Unless you aren't into political rap, of course.

That's the first person I thought of.  I mean, he's popular and everything, but I think he's at that level where he should be a household name.

i def don't deny he has, but some people act like everytime he makes a political statement it's some kind of revelation and pure genius. which it isn't

i don't know why y'all say Common. He don't do the kind of hiphop that'd appeal to the mainstream, but you need to see the brighter context of over- and underrated. Many of you think you can measure that merely by the average pop listener's awareness of the artist, which IMO you can't. You need to look what kind of audience an artist tries or should appeal to and then take a look at what this audience thinks about the artist...and if you do that, don't come up and say Common's underrated...people who don't know you won't rate you at all....
