Title: MP3 Burning/Tagging
Post by: *Jamal* on November 21, 2004, 05:09:06 AM
What's the best program to burn CDs? Is there any program that will let me load a playlist (.m3u, .pls) and burn that?

What's the easiest way to tag mp3 files? For example, I have the Nas Stillmatic cd on my computer. The folder is named "Nas - Stillmatic"... and then all the songs inside are named "01 - Intro, 02 - Ether,....etc...". When I use a player (Winamp), it shows the filename as "02 - Ether", and when I check the file info, the tag is blank.
What would be the easiest way for me to tag that entire folder/cd?

To burn audio CDs I used to use Nero.. now i have an CD Unit in the cart that plays cd's full of mp3s i still use nero, but they're burned as data cd's... each directory has an album in, and it uses the number ID3 tags to order them (it doesnt use playlists) it works well..

When I rip stuff myself I use CDEx and have it tag during ripping.. its probably easier for you to do that in the long run

Yeah, I do that now, but I use FreeRip (works just like CDEX)... but I have so many songs/albums from before I started using this method... what do I do for those files?  :(

i dunno.. i have a lot of stuff in that kinda format.. i have got a lot of it on CD now.. the rest i'm sorting through.. Unless you can download it somewhere tagged better.. tagging them up yourself might be the only way

We have fridges that can defrost a chicken from our computer, but we don't have a program that will automatically tag our songs... stupid Japanese...

Using the Winamp Media Library, you can highlight a bunch of songs, and change the tags for all of them at the same time, but obviously I'd just be able to change the Artist/Album...  now I need to find a program that would enable me to retrieve the track title using that info...  >:(

That's the reason I want my songs tagged; I'm getting an iPod in a couple weeks. I don't want it to be all fucked up on there.

2Pac
2Pac feat. Nate Dogg
Tupac
Tupac Shakur
Makaveli
....

shit would be all over the place

GOT IT  8)

Media Tagger... can be found on download.com

Makes it so fuckin' easy.

Let's say you have your files named this way

2Pac - Hit Em Up   (artist - title)

Once you open the program and choose the folder... in the box (it has a key-guide) you would just tell it to TAG the files according to however you want...
Convert Filename > Tag

If %2 = artist   and  %1= title, then you'd just tell it

%2 - %1    (2Pac - Hit Em Up)      and that's how it would tag it.

it reads the track titles from CDDB.. theres a box where u can pick the layout of the filenames too..

if its not in cddb you can edit it yourself

its dead cool :)
