Title: Rakim article in Source magazine
Post by: gdjone on September 05, 2002, 07:31:48 AM
Did anybody read this article. If true, it was very discouraging. Rakim gave no info on the album and it was mentioned that only two songs were semi-complete. Now that contridicts what was been mentioned on this board and even what rakim and dre said about songs being complete and what mellowman said about the albums progress. Nobody knowns sh$t. SMOKE and MIRRORS

Ya' know Dre keeps shit under wraps that's important. Like Chronic 2001, it leaked, but only closed to release date. Most news changed as time went on. Rakim and Dre plain to blow the whole hip-hop industry up in one album. They ain't saying shit for reals.

Yo.  I'm not the least bit suprised.  This proves both my theories.  A- Mellowman is full of shit.  B- Rakim ain't ever coming out.

So the source is always right?.........

You guys are idiots if you cant respect someone who goes out of they're way to post exclusive news on some of your fav artists. He doesnt have to do it and if you dont believe it then shut up and dont read it.

And if anyones wondering I dont really care about Aftermath that much but I respect Mellowman and I hope hes not reading this because someones dumb comment could make him leave and never come back and that would piss quite alot of you guys off.

::)
Dr. Dre & his camp usually give out less information than what is available, meaning that they usually keep everything a secret (or throw you off with misinformation) to give themselves extra time to finish their projects.

Yeah, I know all about Dr. Dre and his camp.  Unless it's Eminem, it ain't comin out.  Shit, the only reason "2001" even dropped was because Eminem breathed life into it.  Eminem himself said the album wasn't much till him and Royce started writing for it and gave Dre a kick in the ass.  It's a miracle that the Truth Hurts album ever came out.  It only dropped because the propularity of the DJ Quik produced single.  Rakim will have a similar fate to that of King Tee, Eve, The Last Emporor, and even outside aftermath fam like Knocturnal.

Who knows. Dre knows people have been waiting for this CD more than any other Aftermath release. I mean King Tee it great, but his not even half of Rakim. Same with Eve, or Last Empiror. We'll see, I've been waiting, and waiting. They've had the title forever, let's see if they can live up to the hype, or not and cancelle the CD.

they are working on the album to produce an album.....dre has to b comfertable wit rakim and ra has to be comfertable wit dre.....dre is goin to b bringin shit outa ra, that nobody includin ra himself ever knew he had.....so wit that, that takes time to bring certain emotion, or feeling....as a mc myslef that shit aint as easy as ya'll think....a individual has to go thru experiences n things of that nature....so b patient....plus they may have done the article just so peeps readin the article, iz like, damn rakim's comin out with album under dre....and some cats may not know that shit, so then the buzz begins.....know what im sayin

The Source obviously hasn't heard "Cold Feeling" yet then, and that track has been recorded since his signing with Aftermath because he mentions Dre & Aftermath in the song.

It's like M Dogg said, they could be holding vital information back so they can drop a load of information on the album when everyone least expects it, or they might not drop any or little information and just let the music speak for itself WHEN it finally drops. This is not gonna be your average release, this is gonna be something special, I can feel it.

I just read the article and it's what I thought, they are trying to mislead us.  So many sources provide different info.  It's true, no one know what the hell is going on.  Not The Source, not Mellowman and certainly not any websites.  And that's what Ra and Dre want.

I'd say the only confirmed aspects on the album are that Dre will be producing and Ra will be rhyming.  Em, MOP, Primo, Hi-Tek...etc., I'd say none of these guys are on for sure.

I wouldn't be suprised if Dre is the only producer.

Aftermath album failures...

Dawn Robinson
"Thy Kingdom Come"
Eve
The Last Emporer
"Hitt's Big Score"

All of those people are pretty much little known MC's/singer, with the exception on Eve, but she was even unknown back then.

I can't see how Dre can let one of the greatest slip by.  Plus, he's said he has always wanted to work with Ra, and in interviews he always talks about the album, and how they are vibin' in the studio.  Dre never really spoke of the other artists that way.

One thing in that article that I learned is that Big Daddy Kane and Rakim almost had a beef going.  They were going to battle live one night, but it didn't go through.
That would of been an historic moment in hip-hop.
I would pay good money to see that happend now, 12 years later.  It would still be dope.

oh hell yeah homie....that shit iz true, but its funny how when kane heard ra's 4 bars he told rakim that his song wasnt meant for rakim.....which means kane must have heard what rakim wrote and was like, this cat's got somethin on me

IVE NEVER SEEN SOMEONE TAKE SO LONG ON A ALBUM.  WHAT'S FUNNY IS HOW EMINEM ALBUMS GET PUMPED OUT AND EVERY THING ELSE ON AFTERMATH GETS PUSHED TO THE SIDE.  LOOK HOW THEY DID TRUTH HURTS  SHE CAME OUT MONTHS BEFORE EMINEM BUT SHE HAS HAD ONLY ONE VIDEO EMINEM ALREADY HAS TWO VIDEO'S.  I USED TO THINK DRE WAS THE BEST PRODUCER AND COULD DO NO WRONG BUT LATELY I HAVE NOT BEEN FEELIN DRE AT ALL.  HE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO STEALIN BEATS CUZ NOW WHEN I HEAR A BEAT FROM HIM IT'S DISAPOINTING.

Y'all are just like women, all worried and shit.  What's the point?  If it never comes out, what are you losing?  nothing.  Dre isn't stupid, he made 51 mil. last year for a reason.  Everyone is saying that this album is taking so long to make, but it's not like they record the album 9-5 everyday.  They do other things too.  Just fuckin relax, and watch what happens.

Im so sick and tired of Dre!!He takes fuckin forever to produce a track, let alone a whole album. He needs to wake up and stop being such a perfectionist.Ive been waiting for the Rakim album since november of 2000 and here it is going on 2003.Is it just me or is something seriously wrong??Dre said that they plan on releasing it in november yeah right!!I HAVE THIS STRANGE FEELING THAT THIS ALBUM WILL NEVER COME OUT AND RAKIM WILL END UP LIKE KING TEE AND EVE.What do you guys think??where in the hell is mellowman/please shed some light on this album please.
