Now, if they were muslim that would be normal, but I've seen this numerous times. Non-Muslim blacks talking about not eating swine. Xzibit has mentioned it, he says something like, "mother you taught me better than to waste my money on swine". MC Ren says something along the same lines. Another mention of it is in Boyz N the Hood. When Tray comes home from the BBQ he brings back some food for this father and he says, "this isnt no swine is it". Anyone know the history behind this?

It's a result of the Nation of Islam's influence upon Black america. Even those that don't wholly believe what the Nation of Islam is pushing, or even those that are Christians and not Muslims, still adopt some of the ideals of the Nation of Islam to help set themselves apart as conscious objectors to the status quo in America.

That method involves the knife cutting across the jugular vein, so that all the blood exits the body of the animal in such a way that none of it gets to the meat. That way the meat stays clean, but this is not possible to perform on the pig due to its natural anatomy.

Thank god i wasn't there to witness it. The tragic genocide you're talking about occurred between 1915 and 1922. My great grandfather's family were victims though. pigs are clean animals in the wild, they use mud to protect and clean their skin... only in pens or farms wateva they live in shit... no different to any other animal... pork is cheap meat, damn good and healthy as fuck.

ahh cool, u stay true to ure religion, thats cool... ive met a couple of muslims that refuse to eat pork (we had to make em seperate meals at the dinner table) but then they were drinkin whisky like water... i thought it was hypocritical, if you gonna follow a religion you may aswell do it right imo....
