so my new neighbor from new york. hes really into hip hop, but hes only eighteen, so he still doesnt really know that much about hip hop... for him mos def talib kweli and them are his hip hop.. and to tell u the truth, he knows a good amount about hip hop nowadays, but he doesnt have a single clue of the history or all the shit that happened before.. like when i play old school shit, he has no idea what it is, even if its a fucking classic like "They reminisce over you".... ... when i interviewed dj quik and showed him the video, he had no idea who Quik even was... i had to tell him that Quik is a legend, and he didnt really believe me, until i started spittin out everyone that quik is affiliated with,.. ... my neighbor is kinda biased with east coast hip hop too, so i basically had to relate Quik in terms of east coast music and say that the real recognize the real, and that Jay-z had quik production the black album, and also talib had quik production on Quality , i was just listing off recent production that he did, that my neighbor would probably know... i always get into crazy ass arguments with him about him sleepin on the west coast music scene. he needs to step his game up if he plans on living in california. like he was amazed to see quik in Game's how we do video with Dre and 50 because to my neighbor, quik is just a nobody.
but anwaysy back to the point.. hes the type of guy that believes just about anything he hears.. so hes always spitting out stupid ass rumors that i never believe... one was that 2pac shot some little girl on accident, and that no one knew about it... but seriously how the fuck would my neighbor know if no one else knew.. plus how the fuck would i ever trust my neighbor when the fool doesnt even know who fucking dj quik is..
so the argument im trying to prove him wrong is, hes brought up several times that Nas supposedly lost his notebook of rhymes and lyrics for Illmatic, and that he had to write all new rhymes for his album after he lost it.. ......... so i believe that this is just another bullshit rumor that has been passed along, and i havent heard anything about it ever before... so if someone could clear this up for me. im tired of him bringing that rumor up everytime we see nas on tv.

well unless you live in cali quick is a nobody. ive known about him for years and i could give a shit what he does next. hes from ny and there are so many good producers upthere. qick is a nobody to me i live in atlanta and we got some good producers in the south as well. so to me hes just another guy
but in order to deal with these up top cats just ignore them its always fun to watch them get mad if you dont respect thier city. theyre all the same

I Have heard that Nas did lose his notebook for illmatic, i know i heard it somewhere on TV too, during a Tv interview or something, dont know if its true or not

ck is a legend in Cali, but that's about it. In/to the rest of the hiphop world, he's just one dope producer out of many...this Illmatic rumour ain't new to me either, dunno if there's any truth to it

Actually someone at the Marin City fair was firing shots at Tupac and hit a 6 year old girl. The crowd blamed it on Pac and they chased him down. This was when he was 17 years old before he even hooked up with Digital Underground. Saw it in the shitty documentary Thug Immortal (Unauthorized).

yeah i actually just read a few 2pac sites, and they all said that he was linked to the shooting of a child at the marin city fair, but WAS NOT involved in it. so my neighbor is Wrong. now time to settle the illmatic rumor. haha

i dont really see how nas couldve lost his rhyme book when ny state of mind was on illmatic. he wrote that when he was 16. not to mention halftime was out 2 years before illmatic...doesnt make much sense...
