Title: Doggystyle All Stars sold only 35,000 copies?
Post by: Juice on August 20, 2002, 11:07:56 PM
Is this confirmed? I've read this in the DPG Forum:

"Snoop is on top huh-what a bunch of bullshit. This motherfucker has a major label(MCA) putting his shit out, TV ads all over, ads all over magazines, a music video and diss songs on Kay Slay.Yet all he sells is 35,000!!!!!!!Sad shit.Where are all you DPG/Dogghouse riders at now.Snoop aint shit, he is played out, his label is wack.Snoop better push major units with his solo LP or his ass will get dropped by MCA records.I predict Dogghouse will be gone in 2 years and SNoop will go to Def Jam, mark it down.Since DPG/Dogghouse is finished it is up to Crook, buy that shit Sept.24th, buy 2 copies fuck it buy one for your girl too.As for all that shit Snoop and his dickriding fans were talking all I have to say is this- and   and how about"

(that's not a post i made so dont hate)

::) FUCK NO!!!
The albim is really tight!
To sell more it needs a tight single like Don't Fight The Feelin'

Don't Fight The Feelin' - Snoop Dogg, Soopafly, Nate Dogg, Cam'ron & Lady May
Produced By: Meech Wells

who would be happy of this, but expect the solo albums to sell more, except latoiyaS' one, the album is class on the oldies categorie on some site, people don'T really like oldies , so if they think it's an oldies album , they won't buy it , until they heard it from someone ...

Actually this album sold 49,000 copies...Still not great but considering no promotion and no MTV support it isn't that bad...And its not like this is a Snoop solo album so it's not gonna sell 400,000 the first week out...

I doubt 213 will sell big.  Look @ "Return Of The Regulatpr," "Music & Me," "Street Fractions," "Under The Influence," "Knoc's Landin" and "Welcome To The House."  None have sold well at all.  The only one pushing units from the West is Dr. Dre, and he didn't even push big units with "The Wash."

I don't know, the West is in a slump just like it was in '97 - '99.

yeah i thought it sold 50k, but anyway the album was good could have been better but there are three things that fucked this album up..............

1)bad single should of been "not like it was"

2) not great promotion most people i know never heard of it, but that goes back to the bad single

3) people don't buy compilations much anymore, especially if they never heard of it

sales dont mean shit.  I thought the album had it's good moments and bad moments.  I thought the rap sons were good, but the r&b stuff was weak.  but i really liked the beats.  in this day and time of hip-hop to get good record sales you have to make songs for the white people.  no disresepect to anyone but it's the truth.  outkast had three bangin albums but the one they make with all the rock&roll shit goes 3platinum.  if you notice all the singles out right are either produced by the neptunes, or some other kinda sing-a-long shit.  thats just the way it is.  if it was 95' this cd would have done good.  but times have changed.  if your shit is not cheesey dont expect plat. #

WORD!! Thats some real shit!!! When Dre dropped that Aftermath Comp. to promote his label every1 thought that Dre had feel off 4-ever!!! Now look at Dre and Aftermath!! They got Em, X, Rakim, Truth, 50 Cents, and they runnin' shit on tha west.(sales wise)......I think that Doggystyle Records just need to sign tha right ppl. and they can run shit!! I still hope that Snoop can push it to sign Warren and Nate!!! Yo, he need to drop a few catz too.....just focus on yo man talent and drop tha rest! This is what Doggystyle needs to look like to run shit:

Snoop
Daz
Warren
Nate
Tha Locs a.k.a. Tha Twinz
Soopafly
Butch Cassidy
Bad Azz
Tha Eastsidaz

He is tryin to concentrate on too many ppl. at once!!! Keep it O.G. and go wit tha talent that u know will work!! Snoop needs to just focus on 1-2 Doggystyle Records releases a year!!

not to pick on you or anything, but I know that if it was Tha Row that released this compilation, everyone would jump on them for how little they sold, despite how hot the album may be.

Not really. They all bad numbers for a Doggystyle All Stars Compilation. And the promotion shit is just an excuse! Until The End Of Time of 2Pac sold 3-4x platinum with no singles in the USA and with the shittiest promotion ever! Dont say it's all about promotion, and dont say it was worse than the one for Until The End Of Time.

He sold bad. Period.

Yo, I aint tryin to say Pac aint tight but tha main reason Pac sells is he dead....and not even that, Until The End Of Time did have a single dogg....they played that shit all tha time on MTV and BET...it was "Until The End Of Time ft. RL....and like BpG and em said they did have tons of promotions for that album!!! Since Pac died he could release anything that has his name on it and it would sell!!! Of course Until The End Of Time is gonna sell when tha video is played and it gets major play on tha radio.....does Doggystyle All Stars get hardly any airplay on TV or radio....no!!!

Anywayz the only thing that can save the album is release "Dont fight the Feelin" as second single because the beat iz tight & because Cam'ron iz on the track..for me this is the greatest beat on the album and it could make noise in the club just like "got beef" did back then..or if they dont release a second single now they should do a remix of fallen star produced by Fredwreck or Meech

People waiting to hear something diffrent for a change thats why his label not selling good.

actually there wasn't any airplay homie but there wasn't airplay because it was a crappy song it didn't deserve radio play, i never even heard the single here in the bay area, i only heard doh doh like twice, it probably got played a little in la just cause they rides snoops cock just like you say the people on this board do.......it did have promotion to me it was all the doggystyle reords executives (snoop) that fucked the album with bad desicions

Until The End Of Time never had an US Single! That's what i wrote! Read it better, pls. It had a video released worldwide (UTEOT), and 2 singles released only in Europe. And another video (Letter 2 My Unborn) released only in Europe too.

So NO FUCKING US SINGLES and just 1 video in the US.

Dont cuss antonio,pls!

Fallen star is the worst song to go out with a single.
They would have to go out on tour again, cuz its the only way to get more exposure.
A very bad start for doggystyle records with mca!  :(
