Title: Most versatile producer out West???
Post by: Family45 on August 17, 2002, 12:52:04 PM
I've been reading through alot of the "Best Producer of All time posts" and everyone keeps saying Dr. Dre.  I've been thinking that maybe the reason I like Dj Quik so much more is because he seems really VERSATILE.  I mean the guy makes R&B, Jazz, and smooth and gangsta rap beats. And they are well above average.  He doesn't sound out of place when producing out of RAP.

Can anyone correct me because I really only hear Dre producing in one genre of music. RAP (Besides those couple songs on Truth Hurts album)

So if Quik can't get best producer out West recognition, can he get most versatile???

Well Hi-Tek has been working alot with the west lately.  He's pretty versatile.  Or Quick, Dre, and FredWreck would be on the list fo sho.....It's hard to pick just one tho, ???

thats true. and from what i hear, quik plays most of the instruments in his music. and i've never heard about quik having a ghost producer, like dre.

but my favorite & most under rated woud be dj daryl. i mean he's poduced alotta shit, from hard core tracks for c-bo to down south tracks for master p & no limit. and some hip-hop type tracks, like "i get around" by 2 pac.

I notice Hi-Tek dippin with the West too.  He's sort of broken away from Kweli not being on his next albumat all and has been recruited by Dre & Snoop.

Dre has used himon "The Wash," "Truthfully Speaking" and he will be on "Oh My God" and Shaunta's LP.

Snoop also used him on "Dueces & Trays" and a lot on "Welcome To The House."

Word. Quik has to be one of the most versitile. He can make soft R&B beats to hardcore shit. He's my pick.

If I had to name the most versatile hiphop producer of all it'd be the RZA, fuck that he's as good as only the Wu producer, he's extremly creative. In the west I prolly gotta go with Quik though I don't feel everything he produced.

;D ;D ;D
I agree with the majority, its definitely Quik
C'mon he goes from making a gangsta beat to r'nb to a laid back beat.
Of course I would say Quik cause he is my favorite producer, even over Dr.Dre ;)

I def agree, RZA is such a dope producer, but if we talk about West-only, it ll probably be DJ Quik. Warren G is second.

I wasn't thinkin of Warren but yeah, he got alot of diversity. He can never show off his skills or either holds back though.
