I'm not going to lie on this one... Real Brothas is a great record but Dogg Food is just one of the Chronic follow ups in the westcoast classics department so when compairing both, I have to honestly say Dogg Food but when comparing Daz with BGKO, I'd say BG Knocc Out for sure...

back in the day, i woulda said dogg pound, only because that was the side i chose when i was younger, but overall i would have to go wit real brothas, dont get me wrong tho, both albums were classics in my opinion

The dogg food album was better because it had better beats but BG Knocc out and Dresta are better then Kurupt and Daz. The had the Chemistry together.

Real brothas....thats a pure westcoast album listen to songs like "take a ride" "compton hoe" "lifes a puzzle" "compton and watts" "compton swangin".

dogg food is a great album, but real brothas had better beats, better lyrics. knocc out & dre are better lyricists and also better song writers in that they actually stick to a topic and develop a theme. every song had a theme. the themes for the songs progressed consistently throughout the album. the songs themselves in terms of the energy, tone and mood progressed consistently throughout the album.
it's the better album.

definently Real Brothas.. it had hard beat shit (Down Goes Anotha N, Compton & Watts) & sum summer shit (Real Brothas, Take A Ride) and BG Knocc Outs flow is better than Kurupts IMO... Real Brothas is more my style... Dogg Food is tite but no comparisin to Real Brothas for me

Dogg Pound also dissed my favorite rap group, Bone Thugs, and I still listen to Tha Dogg Pound. Hell Kurupt even did a track with Krayzie Bone.

even when the albums first came out it was definitely "real brothas". "real brothas" dropped over the summer, it had the summer jams ("take a ride", "compton swangin'", "life's a puzzle"), it had the west coast funk sound that everyone wanted. it took dogg food a while just for people to appreciate it, it was really death row's first album that moved away from the g-funk sound for the most part. i know a lot of people that were disappointed with dogg food at first, but then came around after a while.

ultimately it's about taste. i listen to real brothas more than dogg food to this day. both are great albums. "real brothas" is the only album from b.g. knocc out & dresta, plus maybe a dozen or two or so cameo's they've done over the years. when i want to hear knocc out & dresta, i'll probably listen to real brothas. in contrast, dogg food isn't the best work by the pound, but it also isn't close to their worst. when i want to hear dpg i'll listening to some blend of "kuruption", "streets iz a mutha" and "revenge, retaliation & get back"...plus other stuff. other than "new york, new york" or "smooth" there aren't a whole bunch of songs on "dogg food" i feel i need to hear regularly. "dogg food" is just a weird album because dpg has better material out there and over the years, but it's still much better than their recent work over the past 5 years, so you'll listen to it and think they've fallen off and you aren't even listening to their best work.

Dogg Food is over-rated. But the proplem with RB is that A) the production is a little on the generic side, and some of the hooks sucked, and went on too long. There were some 5 min songs on RB that could've been pared down to 4 min easy. Also RB didn't have any guests. DF had Snoop, Nate, etc...
Also, Def Jam dropped the ball on pushing a westcoast act like BGKO & Dresta.
So in short I voted DF.

Also, I wouldn't rate either album as CLASSIC.
The only Dogg Pound related album (beside's snoop's) that I would rate as a classic is Kurupt's "Streetz iz a Mutha (with Calling out Names)"
