I always used nero and never really had a problem with it... as far as downloads i donno i bought a copy.. you might be able to find a trial somewhere tho

yup nero is very versatile and my preferred choice of cd burning app. you might want to check out something called alcohol too which is a bit more expert than nero and useful if you're doing lots of shit with image files.
